I was always told that Charles and Matilda (McKenzie) LaRue (my great grandfather and his 1st wife) had only 1 child ... Henry, who lived with us until his death in 1966. Charles' 2nd wife, Mary Elizabeth (Hutzell), were the parents of my grandfather, Emerson Richard LaRue and his sister, Nellie LaRue. I did find some information that said that Charles died in 1936 in Kingwood, WV and was buried in what was referred to as the County Home Cemetery (essentially, the state paid for his burial). My husband and I traveled to Kingwood today (coincidentally) and went to the office of the county clerk to inquire about this cemetery and was directed to the only one of which she was aware that was nothing more than a small plot of land outside town near the high school with a lone marker listing names of those who were buried there, but my great grandfather's name wasn't listed. It is a very good possibility that his grave was never marked. The clerk said that there could be some names missing from the marker. I have no leads (yet) as to the burial site of either of his wives.

Do you know of a Rose Arene Larue B 1892 D 1945 as being a child of Charles and Matilda? Rose is my great grandmother, her death certificate shows Charles Larue born in WVA and Matilda McKinsey as her parents. Rose was married to William Thomas Spiker. Her last name when she died in Jacksonville NC was Dunmyer.

W. G. Lerroy (Larue)

I am trying to find a link between a G.W. Lerroy and a W.G. Larue. I have a marriage liscense for a G.W. Lerroy ( William Lerroy)in 1875 in Lafayette, Louisiana to a Evelina Hebert. G.W. Lerroy (William Lerroy) disappears before the birth of his daughter in 1879. Family story is that he up and left and they assumed he went back to New York - where he was born in or around 1854. I noticed everytime I do a search I come across this W.G. Larue - who coincidentally married a girl from Minden, LA in 1888 and is born in or around 1854. Does anybody know if this could be the same person ? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this family mystery ? Please help. Thank you for your attention.

I, too, am looking for information about Charles E. (Edward?) LaRue, who was my great grandfather. He was born 01/03/1858 and died in 1926. He was married twice: 1st to Matilda Ellen McKenzie, then to Mary Elizabeth Hutzell. Charles and Matilda had one child, Henry, my great uncle, who resided in my grandparents' home and later in our home until his death in 1966. My grandfather, Emerson Richard LaRue (11/11/1900 - 12/03/1958) and a great aunt, Nellie (LaRue) Sliger, were children of Charles and Mary Elizabeth. I have few family records of my great grandfather and great grandmother(s). I know nothing of his wives' dates of birth/death or their birthplaces, though I have suspected that Mary Elizabeth came from Somerset, PA. She and my great grandfather did, in fact, live in Mona, WV at one time, according to the address I found on a postcard. How/why they were there, I've no idea. According to my grandfather's obituary, his parents had been residents of Barnum, WV, which is nearby. I've searched several cemeteries in this area with no success. It would also seem very reasonable that my great grandparents resided in Piedmont, WV, which is also a local town, at a point in their lives. Any additional information or clarification that you may have found since your post of 04/30/2003 would be appreciated.

We are third cousins (I think). My great-grandmother (Margaret Jones) and your great-grandmother are sisters. I don't have a ton of information, but I'll give you what I've been able to find. I can't guarantee that it is 100% accurate, though.

To the best of my knowledge, our great-great grandmother's parents were:

Edward Tyler LaRue (1/4/1859 - 1/19/1934)
b. Marshall County, Alabama
d. Bassett, Mississippi County, Arkansas
son of Abram LaRue (app. 1825-1898) and Emilia Noble (app. 1828-1862)

and

Rydonnie M. McCulloch (app. 1861 - app. 1924)
daughter of Frank McCulloch and Mtilda Jackson.

Abram's parents were Jacob LaRue and Margaret P. Neal.

Jacob's parents were Abram LaRue (app. 1802-1835) and Nancy (maiden name unknown). My information says Abram was born in South Carolina.

I hope this helps.

Margaret LeRoux (LaRue)'s father was Jonas LeRoux and her mother was Catharine LeGrand. Margaret was born in Hemshof, the Palatinate, in 1712.

The source is: Friesenheimer Bürgerbuch, Die Einwohner von Friesenheim, 1584-1814, Poller, Oskar, 1989, p. 105.

You can find this source at the Mormon Family History Library, I believe on microfilm. The original records are also available through the FHL on microfilm, but are nearly illegible.

Margaret LeRoux married Nathaniel Ignatius Lightner in 1731 in Leacock, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

indioscopper,

Francis I was born in 1494. Henri La Roux is claimed to have been born in 1502. This would mean that Francis I was 8 years old when you claim he had Henri. Also, there is no good historical evidence that Francis I had any illegitimate children. Sorry, but none of this adds up right.
