is there anyone out there that knows something about these Lathams

This latham family is looking for a cemetery that should be somewhere around Cascilla and Rosebloom communities, we are missing six members of this family, all passed in this area,, the graves are could be on the 80 acres Zorada j Smith Latham owned. the Latham family moved to Pope county after 1910 and have established a cemetery there with the rest of the family. the graves we are looking for between 1877 and 1910. If there is anyone out there that can answer these questions. Names we are looking for, James Latham, Stephen Latham ,Hattie latham and sister mattie Latham, Zorada jane Smith Latham

What shame are you referring to? I think we may have some of the same blood line. Just found a distant cousin who is also linked to to the "Jack" line. Our Latham (John) was in prison for a time, is that the shame you speak about?

I have tied my family to this Enoch Latham as well. I have that Enoch and Nancy Gardner had a son named Enoch in 1813. He married Nancy Waldrop. I have them on an 1850 census in Sabine, LA stating Enoch was born in NC. My third great grandfather is William Bailey Latham listed as Bailey on this census. Hope this helps!

bethanykendal@hotmail.com

In the early part of the 20th Century, these folks were in Kingman County, KS. Rose was born in Missouri and may have been Rose Huffman before her marriage, which would have made her my Grandmother's cousin--which fits with where my Grandmother lived.

I believe Ed and Rose lived in Denver in the 1930's, as my Dad stayed with them when he was going to college. It is possible that Rose and Ed are simply the names they went by, using middle names. I think Ed may have been Edwin. They just aren't showing up as they should in either family trees or any series of censuses. Because my grandmother and Rose seem to have been close and because we have many pictures of the Lathams, I would like to learn exactly what the connection is and find out what happened to them.

I am looking for my husbands biological father and Grandmother. Charles Wilson Latham lived in Fresno, and was married briefly to Judith Nelle Pickup (Reynolds) in 1966 in Nevada. His mother is Lee Foster and step-father is Jim Foster also both living in Fresno. I believe Charles birth year is 1935 but that's all I know. I know Lee and Jim Foster sent flowers (and I believe attended) the funeral of Theodore Pickup in 1967 because there names are in a book that is a keepsake book with everything to do with the funeral and events around it.

I can't find any information of these people and could really use help if anyone could give me any more info to use in locating Charles and Lee and the family tree.
Re: Lucretia (Latham) m1.Belaver Britt; m2. Joseph Nichols

pruf4it, Boliver BRITT married Martha GRAY on 29 Jun 1825 in Amite Co., MS and was in Copiah Co., MS for the 1830 Census. Lucretia (LATHAM) NICHOLS, in the newspaper interview, says she had three children by Belover/Boliver BRITT. I am trying to determine when and where the marriage between Lucretia and Boliver occured and what happened to the three children.

There are NICHOLS all over Owen Co., IN but I've seen nothing about Joseph NICHOLS except his marriage there to Lucretia in 1830. Do you know anything of his movements prior to 1830? When and where did Joseph and Lucretia meet? When and where in Tennessee did Joseph die? What is his relationship to the other NICHOLS in Owen Co.?

Lucretia settled in Macon Co., IL in 1856. What drew her there? William Gillespie BRITT, son of Boliver (b. 1825-'29, Copiah Co., MS) moved from Washington Par., LA to Macon Co., IL after the Civil War. What drew him there? Was he aware of Lucretia's presence there?

If William Gillespie BRITT was born in 1825, as some researchers believe, it is possible that Lucretia was his mother and Boliver abandoned her for Martha GRAY and kept the child. I am truly confused by the evidence and hope you can straighten it and me out.

Hi I do have some information on this, some match yours. Hatherop is only 20 minutes drive from where I live. John who married Sarah Edmonds was born about 1750 in Hatherop to John and Dorothy. This John was born about 1728 in Hatherop. He had 10 children. His father was John born 1698 in Hatherop, who married Cecily Cull. They had 3 sons. It is this point where you come unstuck. Well his father was Roger Latham who was baptised in London on 29th June 1610. He married Winifred and died in Hatherop on 1st May 1708. You can then trace the family via St Mary, Aldermay church in London. They are on my tree, so we are related. I dont have the American data so would be interested to hear more!

Hi,

I'm looking for any information relating to John Latham. Apparently his father was also John, and mother Hester. He married Mary Cooper c.1718 in USA. I can't find any records to confirm these links however, no marriage of John and Hester, or baptism for their son John.
John and Mary remained in USA and both died there, but their son John (b1730) returned to Hatherop and married Sarah Edmonds in 1772, this marriage I can find documented, but nothing else for any of the other relatives. I feel like I'm going round in circles a bit!!

Thanks in advance,
Crista

Hi Stuart
Thanks for the response and the additional information. But now it seems I have it all wrong. Last night I went through my mother and her sister's birthday books - the ones where you enter friends' and family members' birthdays. Well, in my Grandmother's own writing is an entry indicating her birthday as being on 13 June (b 1882) so she cannot be this Ada Latham that I had originally thought.

However, the birthday books bring up quite a bit of information. In my aunt's birthday book (in her own hand) my grandmother has entered on 8 May - Aunty Janet; on 10 May - Aunty Laura, England (and in my mother's birthday book next to 10 May she has written Aunty Lol, Liverpool, England); on 18 June - Little Leo; 18 July - Darling Little Ruby; 19 August - Aunty Gerty (in a photo albam I have a picture of Aunty Gerty, and in brackets written mother's sister, Jackie's mother (Jackie's surname was HARRISON, which means that his mother must have married into the HARRISON family); 19 October - Uncle Jim; 30 December - My dear mother and Wina's (my mother) grandmother, and in the other birthday book she wrote "Grandma Leatham (dear old soul) God bless her - but the spelling is Leatham and not Latham.

So it seems I might be back to square one! However, I do believe that the families could well be related. Ada, William and George seem to be family names that were handed down in both families. My grandmother's eldest son was George William (although I knew him as Uncle Willie) and my grandmother's eldest daughter was also named Ada.

What made me think that I had traced the right family was that I recall mention of 'our Florrie' - which made me think that 'this' was the 'right' Latham family as I assumed that Florrie was the youngest daughter. However, it might have been a cousin.

I'm getting more and more obsessed with trying to get to the bottom of this riddle! All and any help will be much appreciated.

Cheryl

Hi Ada's Grandfather was William as you say. He was born in Liverpool in 1850 and in the 1851 census was living at 10 Mann St, Toxteth Park. He had a brother named Edward who was born in 1848. Their parents were Edward Latham born 1816 in Bolton and Margaret born in 1823.

I am looking for information on my grandmother, ADA LATHAM (b 1874?) and her family - past and present. She migrated to South Africa early in the 1900s. I have established that she lived at 167 Leyden Street, Kirkdale, Liverpool. Her father was WILLIAM LATHAM and her mother, MARGARET. Her oldest brother WILLIAM GEORGE LATHAM was born on 22 OCTOBER 1870; and she had siblings SARAH (b 1872), RICHARD (1875), JAMES (1876), MAGGIE (1878) and FLORIE (1879). The only date of birth which is certain is that of her brother WILLIAM GEORGE. I would appreciate any help in tracing my maternal ancestry!

Sue,
Google Rootsweb.com and enter Andrew Jackson Latham - look at family tree belonging to David Fant - WC CCGEN DATABASE. David also lives in Atlanta TX I think. Info on web is David Fant, Rt 3 Box 199B, Alanta, TX 75551, 903-796-4535, Tammdave@txk.net. I added postems to his site - please read. His site has a picture of AJ and MAE.
My interest in the Lathams was I was trying to prove that Anglo and Dora imigrated with them to Marion County. I have never been able to prove this theory so if you have something that might help let me know. Have you downloaded everything relating to the them from the web? If not let me know and I will send you what I have. Many seem to think that David is his father but I have not researched it in anyway.
This is my hobby and I really don't think anyone in my family is too interested in what I find, so I like to correspond with other researchers when I have time. I have relatives buried in Morris and Titus Counties and I guess in Cass County.

Janie Latham Walker was my grandmother. I am trying to trace back further than Andrew Jackson Latham and Mary Ann Elizabeth Stephens Latham.
