Was Simon in the US in 1910? I found a Simon Latter, b. 1880 Eng-CAN, living in MA. Would this be him?

Ancestry has him indexed as Lemon Lattea but the image clearly shows Simon Latter.

John lived in Nova Scotia. He was born in 1823 but I am not clear where his place of birth was. His children included Henry W. Latter, Clarence and Bessie Latter, Simon I Latter (who moved to the US). There was also a Joseph and Abner Latter but I have not been able to find any records on them. I am a decendant of Henry Latter. I am unclear whether Joseph and Abner were Johns children or brothers that he was raising, as they are on the cencus records prior to John'n marriage to Sarah Fraser. She also appears as West on some documents which leads me to believe she was a widow ( West).

Since my email I have done a bit more research into Henry and his full name is Henry George Latter born 1869
father a Newman David Latter and mother Francis Latter.
They lived in Wateringbury Kent. From what I can find out (through here say) he moved to Canada but returned to the UK for the war before returning to Canada.
He was the black sheep of the family so as I said not much to go on.
However This does not now tie in with your birth dates for your Henry so sorry.

I'm the daughter of Richard Thomas Harold Latter, b.1916, son of Cameron Latter and Esther Swanson Latter Rogers, both of Chicago. My research goes back to Thomas E. Latter, Haltex (?) Nova Scotia, m. Mary Ann Lane, b.1838, Topsfield, MA, dau. of David S. Lane. They were parents of Thomas Lane Latter, b. 25 Apr. 1866/9, Glouster, MA who married Margaret J. Cameron, d. 24 May 1940. I would like to go back further and to determine if Cameron and Esther ever married. My father lived with his grandparents Thomas and Margaret, attended Hyde Park H.S., and graduated Purdue University.

Thank you for your message. I do not have any information about Henry Latter's parents or family. He is my brick wall. All that I have is an approximate birth date (4 different ones on different records) and an approximate date of immigration to Canada (1867--on the 1901 Canada Census). All of the records I have so far simply state that he came from England. My mother thinks that it was the southern part of England (which is where most of the people with the name Latter are concentrated). Do you have any record of your Henry being married in England? I have not yet found any marriage record on either side of the Atlantic for Henry Latter and Mary Carne. My Henry was a landscape gardener in Montreal. Do you know the occupation of your Henry? Also, what is his date of birth? I would really appreciate any information you might have. Thanks so much.

While doing research on my family tree on my mothers side.
We do have a Henry Latter only problem, he was the black sheep of the family so not much known or spoken about him other than he went to Canada.
Our Henry we do know was born in Wateringbury Kent UK
but from my reasearch there were a few Latter family,s in Wateringbury area. Do you know names of parents.

thank you so much for your reply, that has got to be the mary and henry i have in my tree, i didnt get any further, with mary and henry,i wanted to find mary and henrys father, so ill have a look for (rich) and if i find anything ill let you know. they had their first child henry 1764, i thought id missed a generation with me thinking they was born 1700.i do have a toulson tree i just needed to make sure im following the right tree, iv hit a brick wall with mary and henry. thomas toulson is my GG grandfather, his father was william,(B)1821, and his father was also william (B)1801. so i do hope i have the right tree.

I have a Mary Latter born 1738 in Gravesend and married to Henry Toulson on 26 Oct 1758 at St Peter and St Paul Church, Milton, Gravesend, Kent. Mary Latter was baptised on 5th November 1738 at St Georges Church, Gravesend. The record reads "Mary daughter of Rich Latter". But I havent found anything further on Rich Latter.

We searched the 1852 and 1853 birth indexes but only found the following two Williams in Kent in 1854:

March 1854 quarter William Latter Sevenoaks
June 1854 quarter William James Latter Malling

In 1881 he married Isabella Elizabeth Barrett from Ireland, in Montreal. William had a brother Leonard C. Latter. I believe I may be related to the line that included Annie Latter through one of her younger brothers, Thomas, b. Apr. 1869 in either MA or N.S., and I am looking for more info on her parents. The 1881 Canadian census includes Thomas and Ann Latter and their children Annie, Lizzie, Ellar, Thomas, Wm., and Leanord. In 1890, both Thomas and William are printers in Boston, MA. By 1920, Thomas and his wife Margaret had moved to Chicago with sons Thomas Cameron (my grandfather) and John W. William was still living in Boston with wife Stella and son Leonard. Please reply if you have any further info on this Canadian Latter line.

My grandfather was William John James Latter who in 1919 married, on the certificate he was a widow aged 52 I am assuming that his marriage to my grandmother was his second marriage and my father came from this marriage. my Grandfather's father was listed on the marriage certificate as James Latter a shepherd (deceased) the marrriage took place in Caterham, Surrey.
I know my grandfather had children from the first marriage however I can find no trace of him or my great grandfather, Caterham is litterally just down the road from Kent and Sussex and therefore he could have come from anywhere.
Question do these perhaps fit in with your family tree?

Ellen came to live in Canada with my gg granfather Ralph. They appear to have married in England about 1875. They also had 2 children while in England Herbert J, Cloudsley Brereton born 1877 and Cecil G. born 1881. Ralph Fihser was the son of William Fisher grandson to John Fisher who came to the US via New york Date of birth about 1794 All I have is family lore that they may have come from the London area.

I am trying to find my gg-grandfather and his wife. We know Enoch; possably Wm Enoch Ruff born 1805 to 1810 SC married a Mary and we have Mary Polly Ann/ Mary Ann Polly Lawter/Laughter and have seen Louther/Louter. I found Enoch and Mary in the 1850 USA census for NC and in that census they had their children plu a John Latter age 7; Walter Latter 6 and a Nancy Latter 2. This makes me beleive that Mary's last name was Latter when she and Enoch married. They lived in the Polk District of Rutherford Co., NC in 1850 and they may have lived in Polk Co.,NC after the area was broken up into several counties.

I am looking for information about my great grandparents, Henry Latter and Mary Carne, who immigrated from England to Canada ca. 1867. Henry was born on Dec. 13, 1835 (1838?, 1841?) and Mary on Dec. 5, 1841 (1838?, 1839?). I cannot locate birth or marriage records for either of them. Family members think that they came from southern England. They settled in Westmount (Montreal), Quebec and, between 1872 and 1887, had nine children. Just started to research and stumbled across your mail, my Father Fredrick William Latter was born in Wateringbury around 1920, his dad was Alfred Ernest not sure if there is a connection but it is a very close coincidence
