Lived in Bombay India from at least 1900 - 1925.
Had a business as Housing Agent in Bombay India certainly around 1907- 1917.

I am looking for Ferdinand Laurent, sometimes called Frederick, of Allen Co., Indiana. He had siblings Victor, Virginie, Josephine, and Auguste. His birthdate is a little shaky, prob. in the late 1820's, in France.

Jean Baptiste Laurent b:1842 married a Theresia Wery in Lincoln, WI....and one of his children Louis Laurent b:1879 who married Merence Guelette in 1901 in Algoma, WI was my great grandfather....and their son Arthur Laurent b: 1912 Algoma, WI was my grandfather...

I know this is a post from time ago, but if you are still looking for Jean Baptiste Laurent from Belgium I may have him in my tree. My great grandmother was Marie Catherine Celine Laurent b.1848 in Belgium. I have her father listed as Jean Baptiste Laurent b. 29 Apr 1812 in Namar, Belgium and d. 03 Apr 1899. He married Catherine Jadot b. 20 Aug 1821 in Belgium and d. 24 Dec 1894. Does this fit in your tree? I know the family did live in Kewaunee
county, WI. My Grandmother married Theophile Kaye in Belgium and they came to the US in 1871. They lived in Green Bay, WI.

Born 1865 Quebec although we have also seen him use Rouse Point, NY. Son of Theodore Edouard Laurent & Mary Clement, St Justin, Quebec. Youngest of 10 children. Graduated McGill Univ 1885. Married Anna Willora Box 9 Dec 1890 in Tacoma Washington. Son Theodore Box Lawrence was born 4 May 1893 in Tacoma. Divorced Willora, 1912. Remarried French woman , Marie B in 1918, perhaps while serving in WWI. (Served in US Army,maybe Headqquarters Company, 49th Engineers). Marie B immigrated to New York 1919. US Census 1920 NY, NY has them living in New York City .
Pierre used various names: He changed his name from Laurent to Lawrence before graduation from McGill 1885. Used Perry B Lawrence, Pierre B Lawrence, PB Lawrence
What happened to him after 1920 in New York City?

Alphonsine and Joseph Laurent

Here is what I know:

Alphonsine was born around 1891 in Pennsylvania (1930's census)
Alphonsine's parents immigrated in 1888 (1930's census)
Alphonsine was married to a Joseph Laurent (Born approx 1889 in Belgium, immigrated in 1910 and naturalized about 1919) the 1920's Census, with 3 children (ages 4,5 and 9).
Joseph Laurent was from Herbeumont, Belgium and came through Ellis Island in 1910 on May 4 (I think with other family members if I read the record correctly on ellisisland.org)
Joseph Laurent is not included in the 1930's Census and it appears Alphonsine is listed as a widow.
Alphonsine's parents lived with her at the time of the 1930's census.

What I would like to know:

What is Alphonsine's maiden name?
The listing ancestry.com has for her parents last name is "Gurdmanlin", but the name cannot be correct (even google doesn't find a single entry for "Gurdmanlin". I'd like to go further back, but am stuck by the last name.

What happened to Joseph Laurent?
I can't find any records or him other than the census from 1920 and the ship manifest from ellisisland.org

I am trying to locate descendants of Arthur Jule Gagne, and his brother Anthony/Antoine Gagne,to share some old letters written by their mother, Emelie Laurent Gagne, wife of David Gagne. These letters are dated from 1897 to 1905 and were sent from The French Hotel in Minneapolis, MN (owned by David Gagne) to Emelie's aunt in France.

Anthony/Antoine Gagne was born Oct 3, 1889 and Arthur Jule Gagne was born Oct 3, 1893, both in Hennepin County Minnesota.

Arthur Jule Gagne was found on the 1930 Fed. Census living in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Leone and daughter Julie. Arthur studied art in Paris and New York and settled in Los Angeles in 1920. He designed costumes for the movie studios and taught at Chouinard Art School until his death from a heart attack in Feb 1936.

Arthur's daughter, Julie, was born in Los Angeles in 1925. Did Julie Gagne marry and have children?

A little less is known about Anthony Gagne, but he supposedly was married to a woman named Pearl and had at least one child, name unknown.

The letters were written in French but have been translated to English and I believe these should be shared with living relatives of this family. Any help or information is appreciated.

born 7 Dec 1915 in Michigan to John W and Nellie M Werner.
She married Mr Laurent...and I can not recall if his name was Alfred or Arthur Laurent.

Aunt Vivian died 2 Dec 1991, and her husband died 12 July 1989.

I do know they had two daughters, Pat and Jackie.

My husband was in the Navy for over 22 years.
When we returned, almost everyone in my father's side of the family had passed away.
There is no one left to ask.

It had been a long time since they were in Flint. As you probably know Tom's mother is not well. She is being cared for in one of our local convalenscent (sp?) homes. The information I have for Elemie Haydel b. 05 Sep 1891 in Edgard, St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana, parents are Stanislaus Haydel b abt 1860 in St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana and Emelie Himel b. abt 1861. I hope this helps.

Do you have citations for this? And do you have any more information on Elemie's family? I found the Laurents without any trouble once you made that first connection for me, but not so the Haydels. Someone else had suggested her family might have originated on the German Coast...?

Pierre Paul Laurent b. 9 June 1858 married Alphonsine Oubre on 31 Jan 1882 in Edgard, St John the Baptist Parish,, Louisiana would be the parents of Noe Jean Laurent. He was married to Elemie Haydel. I have more information if needed.

I think several others were blacksmiths.

In St John the Evangelist Cemetery, in Plaquemine, Iberville, is another Laurent Haydel couple of that generation. Keep an eye out in case you have two brothers marrying two sisters. I checked their names/birthday in Baton Rouge books. I found nothing. You probably need to next check Hebert South Louisiana books for all four people.

Two plots over are Mr & Mrs Gerald Victor Laurent and Mr & Mrs David Victor Laurent no dates. (May still be living check phone book. Local tradition to put names on tomb when built & dates upon buriel.)

Haven't found his registration, I'll try looking with the names you suggested.

As far as family trade, I'm not certain. Noah Sr. is listed in the census as a blacksmith, working on a sugar plantation; as far as I'm aware, none of his children ever studied his trade, and I have no info on his parents or siblings as yet.

He is not in Baton Rouge books 1880-1891. Look for Jean (or Joseph) N???. Name was usually flipped.

Can someone get his WWI draft registration? This is the period when people "Americianized" their names. Using the birth(/Baptismal?) date from a card I found a Joseph Anthony who was born Jean-Baptist (in a different family name).

Haydel implies (started in) German Coast St Charles & St John the Baptiste civil Parish (counties)

The Laurent line(s)I chased, would move every generation. Was there a family trade/business or profession where one son would stay at home & the others moved to different locations?

Noah Sr. first appeared in the 1910 census in Iberville, and again in 1930 census. I have been unable to find records of him before this period, or after; other relatives I'm in contect with have had the same problem.

Yes, I am looking to go further back with Louis Laurent.

I have his father down as a J.B. Laurent and his mother as a Theresia Wery. That is as far as I am....
I know he was born in Lincoln, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin...which is where a lot of the Laurents are from as well...
I would look forward to any help you could offer....
Louis's place of death, date of death...his siblings? More info on his parents?

What information do you have? Are you looking to go farther back in your family history or move forward? The 1900 US Census had information that you may find useful (although you may have already seen it) and there were several Laurent families living next door.

My husband has Laurents in his family from Kewaunee. I am currently working on another branch, but will be working on the Laurents next. There is a possibility they could be linked considering the proximity. If you think it's worth a look I can send you information that I have so far.

Myron "Mike" Laurent, 81, Green Bay, died peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2007, with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Green Bay, to George and Ida (DeCramer) Laurent. Mike served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Northern Paper Mill for many years. Mike later owned and operated two Texaco Service Stations (Velp and W. Mason locations) and owned Mike's Self Service on Oneida St. before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Patrick Parish. He enjoyed golfing and loved going to his cottage at Kelly Lake for more than 60 years. A special joy for Mike was when he was able to spend time with his family especially around the holidays and special events.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Diane and Dennis Christie, Nancy and Randy Carpiaux, Mike and Lynn Laurent, all of Howard; Julie Laurent, De Pere; 12 grandchildren, Tammy (Dave) Fabry, Tracy (Mark) Callesen, Tess Christie, Stephanie Carpiaux, Tim Carpiaux, Brian Carpiaux, Christie (Jeremy) LaHaye; Mikie Laurent, Tommy Laurent, Chad VanArk, Brandon VanArk, Cameron Zasada; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Allie, Cooper, Colten, Breanna, Chloe, Lily.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Laurent and Ida Gillis; a brother, Jerry Laurent; and his former wife, Joyce Laurent.

I don't believe he is related with the LA Laurent's unless it is back to France. He came straight to America and signed up to fight in our war to get citizenship. That's what we have heard. He arrived in the Bellingham, WA area. We're trying to find out more about that as well.

My cousin is trying to find information regarding his grandfather. He was first husband to Mary Regina Phillips from the Snohomish County area in Washington. Paul was in WWII and was sick when he came back. He was sent to Medical Lake in Eastern Washington where it is believed that he died. My cousin would like to know where he is buried and if there is any information regarding his military service. If anyone has anything on this person, we would like to hear from you and/or if you can tell us how to research records from the Medical Lake Hospital.
