Samuel Lawley (of west bromwich, England?)

I have been researching my family history over the past few days, and have had tremendous success with the research on my fathers side but I am struggling to get any further on my mothers side. I was wandering if anyone would know any information regarding Samuel Lawley? All I know so far is that he married Florence briscoe in 1936 in west bromwich and had a son Kenneth Samuel Lawley born 1939, who just so happens to be my grandfather. Any information about Samuels parents would be much appreciated

Sorry I realise my last reply may be confusing ..my greatgrand father moved from Shropshire as he gained an apprenticeship in a butchers in Bangor in Northwales. The story my father told me was that he had 2 days off work and took a trip on the train to chester boarding in a pub/Inn on the townhall square of Chester because its was and was till called recently The Shropshire. Working there was a girl he took a liking to and when he left promised he would return to see here which he did and married her, she was my greatgrandmother and that is the reason for the Lawley family connection in Chester, the railway in Chester on the main holyhead line was where a number of men found work including my grandfather and his brothers. and thats how I was born a Cestrian and as I said there is definitely a Shropshire connection

Thank you for your reply Iknow from Northwales it was transient work which brought the family to Chester originating from Shropshire my Grandfather fought in the first world war in the cavalry and his family had railway connections though it appears the Lawley family name definitely has its origons from Shropshire where there is a hill and villge whith the name Lawley. As I understand during the industrialisation of the country Lawley family moved towards the midlands where the is more occurrences of the Lawley name though that is a different branch from my grand fathers who moved and married in Chester But I love to hear any more information that you have

Hi chrislawley1, I'm sorry we can't help you at this stage as we're also just starting our Lawley research. Our Lawleys were blacksmiths in Shropshire over three generations that we know of, including John Lawley, b. 1785 Grinshill, John Lawley b. 1814 Stokesay, and Joseph Lawley b. 1852-54 Hopesay. I can't find any Lawleys in Wales in our BD&M charts but if I do in the course of our research, I'll let you know.
Regards, rmg1901

Im related to the Lawley's from Shelby County, I traced it back to John Jackson Lawley who is buried there in Shelby County, Al. There is actually a whole cemetery there called Lawley Cemetery next to a church called lawley chapel. I've visited a few times and have pics of the place on my profile. Seems like I remember seeing a henry lawley there.

Dear Sir,
This may sound silly but I am trying to locate someone who is related with last name Lawley who was a Missionary, Preacher and lived in India aound late 1800's and early 1900's in Waltair-Bhimli (in the State of modern day Andhra Pradesh) and Paralakemedi-Berhampur in (modern day Orissa).

My grandfather was named Lawley (His full name was Mahendra Lawley) and I believe it might have been done to remember this Lawley who came from England to preach the gospel.

I understand it is tedious and long as there are many people with their lastnames being "Lawley." It is like trying to find a needle in a haystack but if someone remembers if their grandparents were in India a that time and connected with the church.

Thank you. God bless you the Lawleys in the UK.
In His service,
Winston Kumar/Mahanti
winsvinod@gmail.com
winsvinod@yahoo.com

I don't have too much contact with other Lawleys in my family....they and I are from Alabama. I now live in Michigan and have for almost 13 years. I am basically looking for some family that live good clean lives and are interested in the same. I haven't been able to introduce my kids to any family on my side except for my mother. She lives in Alabama with all of the Lawleys. She was once married to my father and he is my connection to the Lawley family...Richard Lawley. If any Lawleys are interested in knowing me and my family please e-mail me!

Oh how exciting!!! You have made my day! And, today is my father's 79th birthday! This would be his birth great, grandmother. I want you to know that my daughter, born May 3, 1995! same birthday as Laura Catherine, has long, wavy, bright red hair! I have been trying to research since two years ago when my father shared with my sister and I that he was adopted at six days old and wasn't told about it until he was in his twenties and married. He finally decided to share the info. with my sister and I. I know I have finally found the family. There is more to tell but I'm running out of room. Thank you so much!!!

I am sure you are related to the Lawleys I am researching. (My daughter married a Lawley!) Farthest back I can go is John Lawley b. 1750 d.1832 in Alabama. All of the Lawley men I have found ARE red-headed and I was lucky enough to get a red-headed grandson. As far as I know the red hair came from Mary Cowen Brownlee (from Ireland) My tree is online: Lawley---OKeefe family tree. Hope this helps

I have a photo of Sarah A Tindall, wife of William Lawley, but I don't know how to get it to you through this list. I can e-mail a scanned copy directly if you want to contact me at janetmadd@aol.com. I have Lawleys back to 1750 in So Carolina, and some female lines back to 1532. If I could print and send you the data we would avoid any typos. I am happy to share, and Lawley information came from the Lawley family bible.
