HISTORY
Tradition has it that four brothers, Jean (JOHN), Edward, Benjamin and James La Velle were Protestant “Huguenots” from the Normandy Province of France who fled that country for the freedom of worship around the middle to late 1600’s for England, due to being persecuted by Frances Catholic King, King Louis XIII.
Jean (John) and Edward came with English Colonist to America (Virginia) around 1690-1710 and settled in or near what is now Orange, Spotsylvania, York and Culpepper Counties perhaps near the Rappahannock River.
A lot of the information on this chart is obtained from the following sources:::
Abridged America Genealogy; The Leavell Family of Va.; Henery Hardin; Nine Leavell Brothers of Georgia; Descendants of R. Leavell Wills and Records; Letters and Family Group Sheets from various researchers in Various States and US Census, plus Morman Records.

Bessie Margaret Leavelle, born Oct 14, 1943 on Galvestion Island, Tx and Died Nov 7, 1988 in Houston, Tx from a motorcycle accident. Body was cremated as she wished. Also, Dale Charles Lachausse was born Dec 22, 1954 to Vera Erma Boss and Charles Lachausse. He has since passed on. I'll have to verify the date. Will post later.

I am Hebert Leavelle grand daughter. My mother was Bessie Margaret Leavelle born of marriage between hebert and vera erma Boss. they were 1st cousins. So i am a descendant on both sides. Donna Boss Leavelle was my great grandmother.

I am from the Allen family line and have been working on my family history. I recently found a picture labelled as Aunt Myrt, Uncle John Leavelle, Nelson & Arnold (their sons) and Monez Allen(baby). Monez's mother passed after childbirth, and the baby was passed on to different members of the family so that F.M. Allen could still work. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. N.A. Kirby officiating.

Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gamble Funeral Home, Hopkinsville.

Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I show a Ashley J Leavelle born 1978 and married Bradley C Norman, married Mar 15, 1997. I also show a Bennie Mae Leavelle born Nov 16, 1946 in Amherst, Tx and married Sandra Terrill married in Lancaster, Tx. Father Lloyd Richard Leavelle and mother Valerie Carmen Bibby. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the invite. I am not far from southern Okla. However, I don't recognize any of the Leavelle names listed. I don't have much information on the Leavelle's as Donna is not a direct descendant, so I haven't done much research on her husband's family. I am concentrating on the Boss side.

As you know Dona died very young. The only reason I knew about her children was because of the gravestone, which has their names on it. The stone looks fairly new, so I am sure that it wasn't done at the time of her death (1915). I am very curious about her.

Her death certificate gives her name as Dona Bass, which made me wonder if she had divorced her husband, T. A. Leavelle. By the way, do you know his full name?

My husband, is descended from Dona's brother Marley.

I also have a Livingston Lewis Leavell b: 1807 in Todd County, Kentucky d: November 1860 in Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky. SPOUSE: Mary Ann Buckner b: 1812 in Virginia m: May 26, 1829 in Christian County, Kentucky Father: Frank Buckner.

I don't believe I know of a Maria Pendleton, though a Leavell did marry one Lucy Nelson Pendleton.

In 1958 my father Marvin Cleo Jerls, married Juanita Joy (Leavelle)Medlock in Mount Vernon, Mo. She is from the central part of Arkansas, around the Clinton/Conway area. She has at least 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Her fathers name was Otis and her Mothers name was Osie.

Juanita is my step mother, there is one daughter, Ruth Ann, she is a Doctor of Horticulture at University of Washington, she has been married twice, and the last I heard her and her second husband and one daughter still lived there.
