Hello, my name is Regina Reiter, nee Regina Oliver. Gerertrude LeBrun was my grandmother on my father's side (Paul Oliver). Gertrude's husband was Jesse James Oliver, my grandfather on my father's side. Blanche and Doris were my great aunts. I do not know much about that side of the family, but do know some and am in touch with Gertrude's daughter Jeanne Sherman.

Moise Lebrun/Olivine Daneau Families - Quebec Canada

Moise Lebrun was born in 1896 in Quebec and adopted by Gilbert and Cordelia Parenteau. He married Olivine Daneau in 1919. They had at least 5 children: Edgar, Germain, Eliane, Rosaire, and Solange.
Gilbert and Cordelia Parenteau also raised Hector Theroux (Cordelia's Nephew) after his mother died in 1900. In 1923 Hector moved to the United States with his wife and 2 children. Settled in Massachusetts and raised a family of 11 children.
Hector's sister Antoinette (raised by another aunt) moved to the US and started a family here also.
I'm hoping to make contact and find out more about Moise and his family in Canada.
In addition, according to a family account, by Meletime's granddaughter, about Meletime (Militine) Lebrun Roussin:

"She was our French Grandma who was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. Her mother died when Militine was very small so her father placed her and her brothers and sisters in a home where they were cared for by Catholic nuns. Her maiden name was Le Brun and she claimed to be related to Madam Le Brun the famous artist from France. She spoke English well but with a French accent."

I'm also looking for information on that family. I have found Michel Lebrun on a 1911 Canada census, I think; here are some links:

http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census11/View.jsp?id=11995...

http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/pdf/e002077259.pdf

His age is right, although he's listed as the father of Alphonsine Maillot, born November 1872. Could be a child of a second marriage, or typo/one of Meletime/Militine's sisters.

I also have a Rose Belanger listed on an 1852 Census of Canada, who would be approximately the right age, but as I have no idea what her birth date is, I'm not at all sure this is her:

http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census52/View.jsp?id=20305...

Anyway, if you've found anything else, I would really appreciate any help you could give me on tracking this family down.

I have the homestead papers for the LeBrun homestead. It is filed in Mary E LeBrun. She signed an affidavit testifying to the death of Louis on 27 Jan 1886. She swore that her name is Mary Evalin Myers LeBrun. Also their wedding date is 18 March 1870. This affidavit is signed 12 June 1890. He died on the homestead. Before living on the homestead they lived on Sabine River - he was a tanner. Her testimony 27 Jan 1881 states that at that time they had 9 children.
Nat'l Archives, LeBrun Mary E,La., Section # 27, Township9-S,Range 10-W, Patent 3106, Land ofc N.O.(81+49onehundredths acres.

Michel Lebrun, born 1848, Quebec

Looking for information on Michel Lebrun and his wife, Rose Belenger (Belanger). They married about 1867, Quebec, and had 3 daughters. The older two are unknown to me. Rose died giving birth to Meletime (Meletine) Lebrun in 1871. After their mother's death, the 3 girls went to live with an aunt in a convent. Meletime married M. Francois "Frank" Roussin in Minnesota in 1887. Anybody with information about Meletime's sisters, mother and/or father, please contact me.

Kathy

Hi,
I am leaving on the North shore coast of the St-Lawrence river ,Province of Quebec, Canada.

I am a french speaking canadian. My parents were both speaking french only even if my grand grand father Lebrun was appearently more english speaking than french.
I have also been told that my ancester came from Jersey or Guernasy island. These islands are located between France ans England.
He would have come to Canada witth his 2 brothers by the early or /mid 1800's.
They would have been coming to Canada on a boat belonging to the healthy cod fish merchands that were then doing good business with the fishermen of Newfoundland, New-Brunswick and the North coast of the St-Lawrence river in Quebec. The Robin family was then one of the biggest , if not the biggest, cod fish merchand crossing the ocean.

My ancester's name could have been Frank, Francis or John.
One of his brother would have been captain and the other one, Charles I beleive, was teacher.

My ancestor settled in Rivière-au-Tonnerre and his 2 brothers in Pointe-aux-Esquimaux now called Havre-St-Pierre. Both localities are on the North coast of the St-Lawrence river in the Quebec Province.

That's about all I know and I have no writng on that. I got that from my father who passed away 10 years ago. I don't know how this is really accurate.

I am also trying to get more information on my ancesters and especially on the ancester from my father side. Could you help me ?

Merci beaucoup et au plaisir de vous lire bientôt !.
(Thank you. I hope having the pleasure to ear from you soon ! ).

Harold Lebrun
Thanks for the reply and glad to assist. Since posting the previous, I've come across some added info you might be interested in:
Mary Jane LeBrun, John Sohier LeBrun's sister, who married Merideth Ackland McCrory, died in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado, on 12 Sep 1933 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery (Sec H) in Salida. She had been receiving a Civil War widow's pension. I found a record for Ackland McCrory serving in the 16th Michigan Inf during the war. (Merideth commonly used Ackland as his given name).
Mary Jane's son was George Ackland McCrory, born 6 Dec 1882. He ended up in Santa Cruz, California. He died in Santa Cruz on 16 Dec 1956. I plan to do a little more research to see if I can come up with a family for George.

Yes, we are still looking for information on John Sohier LeBrun. Lately we have been stymied about any more. But what you have given us is information we didn't know about. His family was from the Isle of Jersey. I don't know what information we could give you. Let me know.

Is anyone out there still looking at this family line? In research the McCrory family from Wright County, Minnesota, I found a Mary Jane LeBrun, born Apr 1860 in Minnesota. She is, without doubt, the sister of John Sohier LeBrun. Mary Jane married Merideth A. McCrory on 19 Mar 1877 in Wright County, Minnesota. They had two children, Mary J. and George. At some point they moved to Colorado. Mary Jane appears in the 1920 and 1930 censuses, widowed, living in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado. Although the 1920 census shows her parents as being from England, the 1930 census indicates her parents were from the Isle of Jersey.
