Hi. This is Jenny. My Grandfather, Louis Fortunate LeComte was Paul LeComte's nephew. You said he died in Casablanca? Isabelle and Arthur are family, too. I am so happy to finally have found family! As you can see, I have been searching for quite some time.
Hope to hear from you soon.
My message is for Nancy, Jenny and perhaps Tom?
Richard, I don't know because my great uncles arrived in NYC in 1906/1910.
Richard and Tom, can you please answer me? Do you know how I could talk to Nancy or Jenny? I'm sure they're family members. Facebook? Are they married with another name as LeComte?
A mistake : Paul died in Casablanca!

Thank you very much

Hi,
I'm Isabelle and Arthur, the brother of your grandfather, was my grandfather. He died in 1972, when I was 1 year old. He lived in Bruay, now Bruay-Labuissière, a city in the north of France. His son, my father, is alive and remember about all his oncles. Your grandbrother (Henry) had 2 brothers in the USA : Germain and Germain (!) which was usually called François. Paul in Marocco died too in Paris between 1980 and 1990, I was a little girl but he cames a lot in France and I can remember of a old man, who reads his newspapper!
I hope I have help you. Ask what you want to know, I can ask my father !I hope to meet you one day!
LeComte in France

Hello. After collaborating with a distant cousin, we have determined that the LeComtes in New York City were descended from two brothers -- Nicholas Lecomte, b. 1795, and Vincent Lecomte, b. 1801. They were from the Bordeaux (Gironde) region of France. We are looking for connections to the LeComte family in Bordeaux. They probably were confectioners. Thanks.

I may be shooting in the dark here -- this post is 11 years old. But I believe this Vincent LeComte was one of three in NY C in the 19th century. Furthermore, I believe he is related to Nicholas LeComte, my great-great-great grandfather, because both were in the confectionery business in lower Manhattan. If you're still around, please contact me.

I'm wondering if it's possible to trace in France one Nicholas LeComte (LeCompte), who was born in 1795 and emigrated to NYC sometime before 1820, when he shows up in the U.S. Census. He was married to a woman named Rachel and had several sons. He was a confectioner and may have brought his skill over from France or even perhaps England.

Hello. I am looking for descendants of Joseph LeComte, who was born around in Manhattan in 1833 and died in Brooklyn in 1897. I have extensive listings for him in Brooklyn city directories as well as historical material from books and a New York Times obituary, but I am unable to find information about his wife and son, who are mentioned in the obit. Anybody have any leads? His father was Nicholas LeComte, who brought French confectionery to New York, and his brothers include Samuel, Vincent, Nicholas, Henry (I believe) and William.

Victor S. LeComte is my great-grandfather. I believe the maiden name of Sarah, his mother, is Sammis, as in Victor Sammis LeComte (married Adele Krey). This family tree does not jibe with our family stories, but that isn't surprising. BTW, it was the Joseph LeComte Manufacturing Co., which made tin cans; it was in existence from 1893 to 1903, when it was sold. Victor S. LeComte then started LeComte & Co., which was in business until 1993.

It's possible that Jean Baptiste Claude LeCompte was an ancestor. I really don't know. My grandmother had said that family papers proved my grandmother's mother was descended from a count. The count gave up his title in the French Revolution in order to keep his head. The family tree was in the possession of her second cousin, Anna Desjardins, but that would have been over 100 years ago. Unfortunately, the wherabouts of the family tree are unknown and my research has not been able to get past Jean Marie Augustine Lecomte. I imagine some distant cousin in France has the documents.

Hello, I am tracing the ancestry of Philias Lecomte, b 30 May 1865, to Ludger-Godfroi Lecomte and Malvina Pare. Futher research has shown her name to be Julie-Malvina Pare. I know from the 1881 Canadian census that they have several other children, and that Luger had died sometime after 1878 (the conception of their last child on the census). Can anyone give me some hints as to where to go with this family?

Thanks, Maureen
