Looking for information on my father, name above. He came from Connecticut and lived with my mother in Nutley, NJ and Hanover NJ up until his death. Believe his mother was Charlotte and father might have also been named Frederick.

I am a descendant of John Ledgard (Ledger) he was my great-great-grandfather. I know nothing of his life in England however I did find on the web the following:

Sorry, our Ledgers were from Ontario, Canada as far back as the 1850's. We haven't been able to find any records of where they were before that. Good luck in your search.

Memorial organisers from Markelo in Holland are appealing for information about Sergeant Roy Victor Ledger from Mitcham, Surrey who was shot down (and killed) over the town during the Second World War. Hi Helen - thanks for your message. You are quite right about young Alice only being John Ledger's (b 1808)great neice rather than his neice. William Ledger (b 1803), John Ledger (b. 1808) are both elder brothers of Henry Ledger (b.1815) that you mention. Thus both John and Henry were Uncles of your husband's Gtx3 Grandfather John Ledger (b.1832). You will know that this John married twice. His first wife was Eliza Moore - she was the sister of my 2xGt Grandfather James Moore. He married Sarah Ledger, sister of John Moore, so it may be that your husband and I are doubly related if he descends from John's first marriage. My James and Sarah had a daughter, Annie Moore who married Alfred Tidy and it was his sister who married Lewis Ledger (his mother-in-law's cousin!). Does ger very confusing but it seems the Ledgers. Tidys and Moores were quite interconnected. Took me a while to sort it out!. I have updated my Genesreunited family chart but not yet my Ancestry chart. Lewis Ledger's grandfather was Henry Ledger. His youngest son, another Henry, married Louisa Forge and they lived in St Martin's/Covent Garden area of London.

I am interested in them, because my husband's gt x 3 grandfather John Ledger also lived in Covent Garden/St Martin's. John was born in Cobham, in 1832, his parents were William Ledger (1802-70) and Sarah Colvin.

I am trying to find a link between William Ledger and Henry Ledger. I know that John Ledger's daughter is staying with your Lewis' parents in 1871, she is described as niece - but this surely only works if she is a great-niece, as John wouldn't have a brother with the same name?

He was married to my grandmother for a short time, they had a daughter together, Her name is Bonnie Jean My grandma divorced him, and Married my Grandfather My grandfather considered Bonnie as his and she went by the last name of Dowdell Not Ledger - she was born June 1 1949 in Martins Ferry,Belmont County, Ohio, She died November 25 1997 in Jefferson County Everything on her says her fathers surname is Dowdell but actually it wasn't

I just need to at least know when and where he was born and when and where he died, So i can add it to her part of my Family Tree.

He was married to a lady called Jane b.1791 who had two children:
Edward b. 1827 d.1895
Jane b. 1830
Any information about any of this side of the Ledger Family would be grateful but I am particularly interested in his parents!

William Ledger married Mary Ann Wright

William was born at Halstead in 1826 and married Mary in 1849, the year they migrated to Australia. I have had great difficulty in finding out any thing prior to his marriage, except that he may have been a natural child of Mr Jemson, and Mary Ann Ledger, I found a Mary Ann Ledger who married Richard Lewington in 1830, 4 years after William was born.I also found 4 William Ledgers in the 1841 census,and was particularly interested in the entry in the Chatham Barracks, listing him as a soldier, as Lewington was said to be a captain in Wellington's Army.
There has been some mention of a distant relationship with the family of Heath Ledger, and photos of my Grandfather show an amazing resemblance to Heath's daughter, Mathilda. I would be really grateful for any information that may tie up with what I know.

Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the SoHo apartment that is believed to be the home of the "Brokeback Mountain" actor, Browne said. The massage therapist and a housekeeper found his naked body in the bed at about 3:30 p.m. They tried to revive him, but he was already dead.

Paparazzi and gawkers gathered outside, and several police officers put up barricades to control the crowd of about 300. Onlookers craned their necks as officers brought out a black body bag on a gurney, took it across the sidewalk and put it into a white medical examiner's office van.

As the door opened, bystanders snapped pictures with camera phones, rolled video, and said, "He's coming out!"

While not a marquee movie star, Ledger was an award-winning actor who chose his roles carefully rather than cashing in on big-money parts. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain," where he met
Michelle Williams," who played his wife
in the film. The two had a daughter,
now 2-year-old Matilda,"
and lived together in Brooklyn until they split up last year.

It was a shocking and unforeseen conclusion for one of Hollywood's bright young stars. Though his leading man looks propelled him to early stardom in films like "10 Things I Hate About You" and "A Knight's Tale," his career took a notable turn toward dramatic and brooding roles with 2001's "Monster's Ball."

"I had such great hope for him," said Mel Gibson, who played Ledger's vengeful father in "The Patriot," in a statement. "He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss."

Ledger eschewed Hollywood glitz in favor of a bohemian life in Brooklyn, where he was one of the borough's most famous residents. "Brokeback" would be his breakthrough role, establishing him as one of his generation's finest talents and an actor willing to take risks.

Ledger began to gravitate more toward independent fare, including Lasse Hallstrom's "Casanova" and Terry Gilliam's "The Brothers Grimm," both released in 2005. His 2006 film "Candy" now seems destined to have an
especially haunting quality:
In a particularly realistic performance, Ledger played a poet wrestling with a heroin addiction along with his girlfriend, played by Abbie Cornish.

But Ledger's most recent choices were arguably the boldest yet: He costarred in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan - as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

And in what may be his final finished performance, Ledger proved that he wouldn't be intimidated by taking on a character as iconic as Jack Nicholson's Joker. Ledger's version of the "Batman" villain, glimpsed in early teaser trailers, made it clear that his Joker would be more depraved and dark.

Curiosity about Ledger's final performance will likely stoke further interest in the summer blockbuster. "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan said earlier this month that Ledger's Joker would be wildly different from Nicholson's.

"It was a very great challenge for Heath," Nolan said. "He's extremely original, extremely frightening, tremendously edgy. A very young character, a very anarchic presence that taps into a lot of our basic fears and panic."

Ledger told The New York Times in a November interview that he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping
while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."

"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told the newspaper. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted,
and my mind was still going."
He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.

Ledger was a widely recognized figure in his Manhattan neighborhood,
where he used to shop at a home and children's store. Michelle Vella, an employee there, said she had frequently seen Ledger with his daughter -
carrying the toddler on his shoulders,
or having ice cream with her.

He was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Calvin Ledger and Rebecca Manora.

He was employed in maintenance for Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, retiring in 1989. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1965 to 1967.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mesopotamia.

He is survived by daughters, Deborah Harris of Cleveland and Annette Bond of Stafford, Va.; sisters, Ida Biggers of Cleveland, Rosie Harris of Cleveland, Ella Johnson of North Bloomfield and Pearl Ledger of Cleveland; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents.

Services will be noon Saturday at the church, where calling hours will be one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends at 8325 Bridgen Road, North Bloomfield. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangement were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.

POW/MIA Korean War, LEDGER

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave ***** as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: ERNEST WALTER LEDGER, JR
Born: Jan. 19, 1932, Caucasian
Date of loss: November 29, 1950, Prisoner of War (POW)

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Ledger family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

My grandfather Harold Ledger moved from Sheffield to Leicester in abt 1926. The family kept in touch with my grandmother's family but not the Ledgers.

My g-grandfather was Thomas Ledger born abt 1865. He was a postman and lived in Hoyle St. On retirement (and demolition of Hoyle St for redevelopment) he moved to Ridgeway Cresc, Intake. He married Elizabeth Hartley or Bramhill in 1881 in the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district.

They also had 2 daughters, Gertrude an Beatrice. Beatrice I knew.

Any pointers to before that would be welcome.

My 4xgreat grandfather was Robert Tripp who married Sarah May Ledger (1821-1912/13). They are both buried in the North Pittsfield Cemetery in Brown County, Wisconsin. Based on land records, Robert Tripp's land in Pittsfield was eventually sold to Francis Ledger (based on the 1889 plat map of Brown County)- who I assume is part of Sarah's family. Does anyone have any connection to Sarah?

Researching the LEDGER family, in particular Joseph Ledger, born about 1840, allegedly but not confirmed in Philadelphia USA, described as an African American,Nubian descent, therefore almost certainly a slave.
He attended Professor Beard's College and said he was brought up by the HOLLINGER family.
On leaving college he became a soldier, fought in the civil war before leaving America to go to Germany where he trained to be a lion tamer with Carl Hagenbeck.
Joseph married Anna Kreutzberg, born 1843 Posen and travelled all over the world exhibiting his lions.
Was ledger his name, or was it Hollinger ? Has anyone heard of the college ?

They were married possibly in Ilion, Herkimer County, NY. William was 23 and Myra, 19. William is/was my grandfather--his date of birth was 11/18/1896, date of death was February of 1956/57. William was married to Myra before my grandmother Mary(Colby). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

William Ledger b1811 Limerick, author and poet and graduate of Trinity College Dublin married Sarah Finucane b1813 Ireland, possibly Dublin.
They lived in Limerick in the 1830's. By 1841 they had settled in London and were raising a family of 7: Jemima, Sarah, Frances, Jeanette, William, Edward and Caroline. I am directly descended from Sarah.
Would love to hear from anyone who has any information on either my Ledger or Finucane families.

The Herbert Ledger I have was married to Martha Wright and had at least one child, Ada. Herbert's birth was registered in the 4th quarter, 1862 and their marriage in the 3rd quarter 1888. Ada was born about 1892-1893. All in Sheffield.

I have no idea and no way of knowing. The connection here is the Ledger/Crook marriage and I know none of the Ledger sibling's descendents.

William is my grandfather. He was married 2 times. The first time, I do not have any information on....the second time to my grandmother Mary(Colby). The family came from Canada to NY. Posssible Cree Indian. William and Mary have 2 children, William(deceased) and Roy, my father. has anyone got information on a jack charles edmund ledger who married a emma ada bailey seem to have come to a dead end. my father has the same name as his father jack charles and was born in croydon on 18 feb 1916.
please can any help, also it would appear the emma ada bailey died in suspisous cercomstances but cannot frind a date for this.

Hi, I am trying to trace the birth of Joseph Ledger born about 1805 in Attercliffe. He married a Mary bc 1806 from Sheffield. in 1851 They lived at Park Hill Lane, Sheffield. As far as I know they had their first child in 1825 Sheffield Park area and the last child was born about 1841 of the same area. In total they had 7 boys and 3 girls. If anyone can throw some light on this family I would love to hear from them. Thankyou, Melinda
