Hi Kelly,

I have not checked this site in a long time. Yes, the store was a drugstore. My Aunt Myrtle has had a longtime male companion/common law husband name Frank. They live north of Barrie, Ontario.

We are looking for our brother, Oliver, who would be about forty now. George, my father was his dad and his mom is Dorothy Carswell. We lost touch with Oliver just after George died on March 12, 1975.

I would like to know more about our connection, Kelly.

Kind regards,

Kathie

I've just started going through ancestry.ca and found this post. My mother (maiden name Leece, daughter of George E. B. Leece, granddaughter of George R. Leece) remembers her father talking about the store on Pritchard Ave. She thinks it may have been a drug store. My mother also had an aunt Myrtle who had two daughter Shelley/Shelly and Robin, and a son whose name she cannot remember. If this sounds right please contact me or reply.

Thanks
Kelly

I actually knew "uncle Willie". When I was young I would go with my father and see him in the park in Baraboo Wisconsin, next to the war cannon. I was only 5, but I remember him as a rather tall, white haired and distinguished looking man. He was very elderly and would spend the summer days on a park bench enjoying the day. I am the great grandson of Robert. My grandfather was Thomas Evan, who was abandoned by his father and lived with Evan, and Willie at times in North Freedom. My father was Willis Earl Leece. I have two sons, one of whom is Dr. Thomas Christian Leece.

Randall Leece

Church records are available through the Mormon site http://www.familysearch.org/ which offers excellent microfilm records and other resources, they may even have a family history center near your location, check the library for the full selection...Steven Leece

Hi Steven, I have just found your records for Leece. I am searching my Leece family.Thankyou it has given me the dates and ref nos for some of my Leeces. My gt grandfather was William Penny Leece bn 1837.died in Ulverstone in 1881 just before my gr father Ernest John Leece was born .I can't get back any further. All I have is my Gt Gt grandfather was Thomas Leece and he was deceased at the time of Williams marriage to Sarah Robinson in 1873.William was living at Penny Bridge at the time of his marriage and apparently my gr father made a point of telling my mother that the name Penny was of significance, I don't know the connection. My gr fathers brother Thomas also had Penny for his middle name and also my gt gt gfatherwas Thomas Penny Leece, I don't know if you can help me with any info , it would be great to hear from you. Kind regards Christine.PS I am curious also to see if we go back to the IOM.

Sounds like we have a match!

I have census (PA and England), christening record of Sr., marriage record with Vanbirtis, divorce papers of same, naturalization papers. More. Have nothing of Sr. after the 1923 divorce - death date is only family hearsay. Did not know Sr's middle name was Gomer. Thought that was only the middle name of his son who I assumed was named after his step-grandfather. No Gomer appears on any of the papers I have seen. Have also the marriage license of his parents Thomas Leece and Ann Moore.

Are you folks related to Robert? Do you know when he came to US? I have seen him only in the 1901 British census.

You can contact me offline at lizpoitras@hotmail.com

Liz

Vanburties and James divorced in 1922 or 1923 so if he remarried you might have a match.
Charles

Children of Thomas Leece and Elizabeth Christian

I am looking for information on the family of Thomas Leece and Elizabeth Christian. Thomas was born about 1842 Marown, IOM. Elizabeth was born about 1848, Onchan, IOM.
They were married 10-10-1864 Bradden, IOM. They had a very large family. I believe these are their children:
1. Eliza Jane Leece b. abt 1865 Marown, IOM
2. Almina or Almena Leece b. abt 1867 Marown, IOM
3. Evan T. Leece b. abt 1868 Marown IOM (Evan came to America and settled in Wisconsin)
4. William Leece b. abt 1871 Patrick, IOM
5. Robert Leece b. abt 1873 Patrick, IOM
6. Elizabeth Leece b. abt 1874 Patrick, IOM
7. Dina Leece b. abt 1876 Isle of Man
8. Willie Leece b. 1878 Malew, IOM (William came to America and settled in Wisconsin)
9. Rachel Leece b. abt 1880 Malew, IOM
10. Edith Leece b. abt 1883 Malew, IOM
11. Marie Leece b. abt 1884 Malew, IOM
12. Joseph Leece b. abt 1887 Malew, IOM
13. Martha Leece b. abt 1889 Malew, IOM
14. Samuel Leece b. abt 1891 Malew, IOM
15. Sissie Leece No information on her
16. Thomas Leece No information on him. Not sure if there was a son named Thomas Leece but some sketchy information says there was.
Does anyone out there connect to any of these people? My husband's great grandfather was Willie Leece who lived for a time in England and then came to America with his family in 1913. He settled in North Freedom, Wisconsin as did his brother, Evan who came over around 1890.
Thank you.
