Hi,

My Grandmother on my fathers side was one Sarah Leetch, Married to John Leetch in Ballymena, I am not sure of her birth date, your Sarah might be a bit earlier. My grandmother passed away a good few years ago now. Sorry I can not be of more help, I do not see much of that side of the family. Sarah lived in Gracehill, probably most of her adult life. If you want to follow up, please add another post and I will answer any questions you may have.

Best Regards
Hello,

I believe you and I may be 5th generation or so cousins. My research indicates that my great great grandfather was William Leetch. I believe he had at least one brother, and that brother's name was Richard H. Leetch although he used R. H. Leetch. They were in business together with offices in New Orleans and Minatitlan, Mexico. I also believe that R. H. Leetch settled in Minatitlan and died there in 1895 based on an obituary notice I found.

I would like to compare notes with you if you are still around.

John Howland

Who was William Leetch? born abt 1811

I would appreciate your help about a William Leetch. The 1870 Census indicates he was born in Ireland about 1811 and had a wife Margaret (born in Ireland) and four children Eliza, Jane (Jennie??), William and Margaret. They were living in New Orleans, but some if not all of the children reported being born in Texas. I'm assuming he died in the 1870's because his wife reports herself as a widow on the 1880 Census. He and his wife are a mystery to me prior to 1870.

Thanks,

John Howland

Robert LEETCH, b. 1820, New Brunswick > NY > NJ

Robert LEETCH was born about 1820 in New Brunswick, Canada. His parents were also born New Brunswick. He married Elizabeth SCHOALS born about 1826 in New York and by 1859 they are living in Manhattan, New York City, where Robert is a grocer. Three children were born in New York - Edward H (1854), Eliza or Lida R. (1860) and Minnie Ella (1862).
By the 1880 census, Robert is living in Jersey City, NJ and is a carpenter. He is Presbyterian. His wife and 3 children still reside at home. Robert probably died in Jersey City.
I seek information about ancestors or descendants of these Leetchs. The name may have been LEITCH at some point. Family stories suggest that the Leetchs lived in NYC and fled to Canada as Loyalists during or after the Revolution.

I am interested in your LEETCH family. My great-grandmother Minnie Ella Leetch (1862-1951) was probably born in New York. She was the daughter of Edward H. LEETCH (born Canada or New Jersey) and Elizabeth SCHOALS (born New York State) They had at least one son, also Edward H., and at least one more daughter, who may have married ESTEY in New Brunswick, Canada. Most references I find for Edward H. Leetch place him in Jersey City, New Jersey, working in New York City.
I have also found mention of an Edward Leetch in the Brockville Township 1848 census for Johnstown District, Ontario, Canada. This is located on the border with Maine.
Edward H. Leetch, the elder, had at least two sisters. Isabella (1810-1894) was born in Ireland and married William H. ANDERSON. The Andersons lived in New York City. Isabella's sister, Martha A. (1812-1893), never married.
Both Isabella and Martha are buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York in the impressive ANDERSON plot.

If any of this fits your family please let me know. This Leetch family is my biggest and highest brickwall.

As I understood it, my maternal great grandmother, Minnie Ella Leetch ,was born in St. John, New Brunswick Canada probably in the mid-1860's. Subsequently, she married Joseph E. Heath and moved to Brooklyn, NY and later Bloomfield, NJ. I cannot find a record of her birth in St. John. Also, I know nothing of her forebears so any information would be appreciated.

Would welcome information regarding the Leetch family from Kilkelly Co, Mayo Ireland who immigrated to the United States before 1900. My father, Thomas J. Leetch left Kilkelly along with his brothers, John and William during the period of 1922-1928. A generation before my father also emmigrated to Canada,America and England. Family names of that era would be John Leetch,Tom Leetch,William Leetch or George Leetch
