Well, I'm Catholic and never believed in confession. I believe I can get forgivenes from God w/o a priest's intervention. 3 Hail Marys and 4 Our Fathers don't fix major screw ups. Nothing in this worl is ever really confidential unless it's being kept from the people by our governments.

I don't really know much about adoption records. A lot of information can be found in church records. I was amaze to read entire confessions written among marriage records of the Catholic Church. Doesn't this supposed to be confidencial?

How you got a genealogist to do your research w/o requiring payment up front is beyond me. Yeah, I think I'm dealing with similar issues, where women were orphaned and they are hidden by the surname of the head-of-household on censuses before 1850. Some may simply be illegitimate and living w/ single mom and/or grandparents. Impossible to determine that without serious $$$$ and someone with inside leades. Adoption records are very confidential.

I absolutely agree with you. The few moments I hired some one to do any kind of genealogical research I demanded copies of records I could verify before I paid the person. My LEMA research was a disappointment it ended with two single sisters that had 12 children with unknown fathers. The elders in my family are still not talking to me because I exposed a family secrets. I was hopping to descend from Alonso de Lema of the "Reinado de Galicia" well this will never happen now!

Thanks! All the more reason why I won't shell out $50/hr to a stranger to do my genealogy. It's so easy to scam someone, tell them you think they're related to someone famous, get more money and when the truth comes out, your money and the genealogist are gone. The genealogist is likely working under a different name by then.

I have contacted every person with a tree that has the same problem than yours and the only ones that answer said they copy from some one else. I was able to locate the person that created this problem, she is a hired genealogy researcher. Until now it was very difficult to research the Lema family from Galicia so this person took the information from my tree and change the dates to fit hers. I just feel bad for the person that pay her.

Wow, I don't doubt your info. You would know your family history better than a stranger like myself. The names you list are spot on with what I recorded, only I copied it from various ancestry.com trees. I don't have documentation beyond Victor Bello. Unless your eternal, someone must have mistakingly tacked your Aqualina Lema to the wrong Bello. The parents I'm trying to I.D. would have been born sometime between 1660 and 1680. I hate sloppy trees and have tried to verify all a could lately, as mistakes like this happen a lot.

What it shows clearly in my line and I have the records to prove it that Jose Timoteo Lema (my great-great grandfather) born in Spain married Ramona Suarez also born in Spain. They had boys and 3 girls, one died as a child, the other was my great-grand mother MARIA LEMA SUAREZ, and the other one was AQUILINA RAMONA LEMA SUAREZ. This Aquilina Married a BELLO. I personally met 2 of their children on a trip I made to Galicia a few years back. The purpose of the trip was to do family research and at no moment these Bello relatives said their ancestors were from Italy. But as you can see the Bello married in to my family and I am not interested in them. <br>

As far as I know the BELLO married in to my family and for at list 4 generation back they were born in Spain, not Italy. It is possible that they came when the Romans invaded Spain, but I am not researching this family.

I paid a relative in Spain to go to the physical office ($1,000.00), but I have requested similar information from the Diocesis of Granada for my husband's family and they were willing to email a digitalize certify photocopy of the record of what I requested for $30.00 a piece. But Granada is not Galicia, to star with the Mormons were allow to photograph the church books in Granada, but were rejected in Galicia. This is why it has taken me 20 years to find more information about my LEMA family.

I don't know about dates being correct. What I do know is that my wife descends from Major Donato Bello, from Naples, Campania, Italy. He was sent by France to command an infantry post in Opelousas, LA. He was born in Italy 1730-40. His line descends from Victor Bello and Maria De La Maro. His mom supposedly descended from Antonio Bello and Aqualina Ramona Lema. Aqualina's parents were supposedly Jose Timoteo Lema and Ramona Suarez. I can add more names. Does any of this show up in your line?

For those researching the surname LEMA from Galicia Spain I am happy to inform you that the Diocesis of Santiago the Compostela has open 6 months ago their Parroquial records. The only problem is that they would not let you do the research on any off their books that contain information less than 80 years old. So, even if your ancestors might have being born in the 1800s the Docesis will not let you look at the book if there is one page with records younger than 80 years. GOOD LUCK and be prepare to pay.

Do you have their birth certificates? As a mathematician it is hard for me to believe there is another line of "Lema" with the same names but being born 150 years earlier. I have seeing your LemaS and family in about 12 trees in Ancestry, it looks like some one copy the names from my tree and changed the dates of birth, none of them have provided any birth or baptism certificates as evidence for their entries. This problems is compounded by people that copy trees assuming the information is correct. So "I WANDER "
