Hi, I have a puzzle to solve. Isis Lennox was born in Carlise England in abt 1845, and married Thomas Wallis in 1879 there. She is the Grand Daughter of James Charles Contantine Lennox B.1791 Cumberland England and his Wife Mary Gillespy B.1805 also Cumberland England. I have found Aunts and Uncles, as well as Children for Isis, but NO parents. Is there anybody that can enlighten me. I don't know where to go from here to find information.

Was Aunt Margaret born deaf? How did she die? Do you know anything about her marriage and divorce from Mathew Lapore. I know that he was pretending to be deaf and then was accused of polygamy. When he was in court he shoked everyone and talked. My freind's dad is their child, but he was raised by William and his sister.

Hi Murray,

Thank you so much for this information. We were always told my grandfather was an only child (and so was my father, Dr. Robert Henry Lennox). Obviously that was untrue.

It is ironic that Thomas H. Lennox, whose mother was Annie, then married an "Annie", and I was named after her. Three "Annie's" in a row.

Looks like John Lennox must have died at some time between the Census of 1881 and 1891. I wonder how my grandfather ended up as a high school principal in Saskatchewan. It seems odd that he would have left there to become a doctor, graduating in 1913. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, Order of the Scottish rite of Montreal, which I have also been reading about.

Anyway, this isn't even your family that I am boring you with. This all started by way of saying thank you for providing he information so quickly.

Anne

Thomas Henry Lennox was born 11 Oct 1877 in Mulmur Township, Simcoe County Ontario to John Lennox, farmer, and Annie Lennox nee Burnet. The Ontario registration number is 1877-027515.

In the 1891 Census we find Annie age 49, a widow, and her daughter Louisa 15 along with Thomas 14 living in Nottawasaga Township, Simcoe County.

John Lennox, 23, of Mulmur Township and Ann Burnett, 22, of Mulmur Township were married 20 Jan 1864 in Muskoka District, Simcoe County. John’s parents are listed as Joseph and Mary Lennox. Ann’s parents are listed as John and Elizabeth Burnett.

The Index of the 1871 census shows the family living in Innisfil, Simcoe County.

Hope this helps
Murray Lennox

PS I am not related to this line of Lennox. My ancestors came from England in 1907 and settled in Belleville, Ontario.
Hi,
I have been trying to trace my family pedigree. My grandfather was Thomas Henry Lennox, born 1878 in the area of Londesborough, Ontario. From what I have been able to gather, his father was John Lennox, possibly from Londonderry.
My grandfather later moved to southern Saskatchewan, and became a high school principal. Later, at about age 30, he went to medical school and became a physician, practicing in Montreal until his death in 1951.
If you know anything about him, or if his father was John Lennox, I would be interested in hearing from you.
With kind regards,
Anne Lennox, his granddaughter

Paula,

Dorothy was my great-grandmother. I have been looking EVERYWHERE for someone who might know about the family as they were split up. I do know that Sidney and Dorothy were adopted and moved over to the Americas at some point in their early childhood, but I am still researching the details on that one. I did just make a contact with Florence's grandson in England for the first time. They are researching also. She should be getting me some information, but is also confused as to what happened during the adoption/immigration years. PLEASE, if you get this, I would LOVE to talk to you!

Hello

I have just read your message on ancestry forum regarding David Lennox. My great grandmother (Janet Lennox) had a brother called David (b. 1865 in Larbert). The dates would add up to being married in 1888 as you mention in your message. I do not however, have much more information on him as I am currently researching my direct ancestors rather than their siblings - although I am happy to share what little I have.

Kind regards

Martin

Somervell/ Lennox married at Glasgow 1806

My ggg grandmother was Janet (in one record probably inaccurately listed as Mary) Lennox. She married John Somervell at Glasgow in 1806 and is described as a resident there on the marriage record. Her husband became a brick manufacturer (Borland and Somervelle). I have a will for John Somerville or Somervell (b ca 1780) dated 1849. According to the will, the (surviving) children of John Somerville and Janet (or Mary) Lennox were as follows:

Mary, wife of Robert Todd;
Robert Somerville; (may have been second born)
William;(may have been first born)
James;
David; and
Janet.

Would appreciate any clues concerning Janet Lennox's family of origin.

Hi,

Are your Somerville connections in North America or in Scotland? My Scottish grandfather had gg grandparents named John Somerville and Janet Lennox who married in Glasgow in 1806. They remained in Scotland, as did their children, though I lost track of one son after 1851. I'm guessing you are from a different line but thought I'd respond just in case...There was another Somerville/Lennox couple in Campsie, Stirlingshire in the 1830s, or thereabouts....Regards, MH

Looking for information on Stewart Lennox born in Ireland 1836

I am looking for any and all information pertaining to Stewart Lennox, who emigrated to Canada, more precisely to around the Peterborough, Ontario region in 1841 or even up to 1846. He married Angeline Robinson in 1861 and had six sons, one of which is my grandfather George Washington Lennox. The other sons names are William Donald, Frederick or Fredrick,Edward Wallace,Harlan Wellington Leana (I found him down in LA,Calif under the name Harold) and lastly Stewart Ottis. Stewart Ottis went to LA in 1909, I have documentation of that, but that is where his trail comes to an end. So I don't know if he died there or not, I'd like to hear from anyone who may know what became of him.
As well I would like to hear any word of the rest of the sons. William was living around Norwood, Ontario in 1913 when his father Stewart died and that is the last information I have on him. The others (other than George)were around the Peterborough area up until 1911 and from there I have no idea. So if you are ancestrally related to these people, I would like to hear from you. Maybe you can help me, I could most surely help you with what i have already dug up. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thank you,

Kevin

Having tracked my 3xgreat grandfather Adam Pickett back to Kilrea from Greenock, I can find his parents and siblings in the records of the First Presbyterian Church in Kilrea, but no trace of either Adam's birth or first marriage to Mary Brady, or of any death record for her either.
I know she was deceased by 1850 as Adam went to Greenock with his two daughters Ann and Mary at that date.
I am certain that I have the correct parents as their names appear on his death certificate in full.
Any help please?

POW/MIA Korean War LENNOX

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Oakland County, Michigan as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: RICHARD NEAL LENNOX
Born: December 6, 1932 Caucasian
Date of loss: November 28, 1950 POW
Service # 16328282
C Co 7th Inf Rgt. 3rd Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Lennox family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Recent discovery of the Johnston link to some very old Gravestones in Monaghan mean that we are searching for the Lennox connection & who from the Lennox family married a Johnston from Derryhollagh, Tully or Fort Johnston in County Monaghan. We know that there was a strong Lennox family link to the Johnstons & we're trying to discover the exact relationship. This Lennox family had a big Department Store in Armagh & a specialist "Babyneeds" Store in Belfast in the early 1970s & earlier.

I looked on the 1881 census and they are about 58 years old. can't pull up the 1891 census for Ontario.
Jane was in Melrose tyendinaga hastings east. I am not familiar with the area. nor do I know what cemetery she is buried in. are there many? Robert and Jane I believe came from Ireland and Scotland in 1865. If I could find his death certificate then maybe I will be able to find his parents and go on from there. thanks for any help.......
