Hello!

My great grandmother, Helen Rose Martineau (Rabideau - maiden name) is the daughter of Anna Alexandria Carlson who had the children you listed below! My grandmother is 95, born in Cheboygan and moved to St. Ignace when her mother remarried after her father died at the age of 30.

I am just starting to track our family lineage and found this thread. I find it fascinating to know that you have located some sort of book about the Rabideau - can you tell me more? My grandmother may be able to help a great deal. She loves talking about these things and is full of facts and stories about the family and her time in Cheboygan!

My email address is nick.radzely@gmail.com

After searching on my own for years I am hoping that posting to the message boards I might find new leads.

Laura was born in Groveton, New Hampshire Sept 9 1871. I found the family in the 1880 Census for Whitefield, New Hampshire. This is the only census I have every found for this family. Her parents were Jean LEVASSEUR and Mary VERMETTE, both born in Canada.
John/Jean born 1863 in Canada
Mary born 1870 in New Hampshire
Anna born about 1873 in New Hampshire
Napoleon born 1878 in Canada

From my fathers records that he passed to me I have pictures of two people who are supposed to be brothers of Laura, but they do not appear in any list I have found on-line
Louis (photo is of him in a military uniform)
Peter with photo of his wife, Maggie and an unidentified daughter. I have no idea where he got the photographs from

++++++++

Below is the family of Laura and Amedie RACINE/ROOT.

Louis Amedie RACINE married Laura E LEVASSEUR on September 9, 1895 in Whitefield, New Hampshire.
I have a copy of the marriage certificate and he is listed as Louis ROOT and she as Laure LEVASSURE. His parents are listed as Louis ROOT and Marie MERIN (Actual names are RACINE & MORIN). Her parents are listed as John LEVASSURE and Mary VERMETTE

I have their children, as follows (All New Hampshire except Georges) - all have the last name of RACINE and NOT ROOT

1 Amos DOB 22 May 1897, Dalton, Died British Columbia, Canada, 1949
2 Lewis DOB May 1989
3 Nellie DOB 5 Aug 1899 , Whitefield Died 26 June 1909 in Lisbon,
4 William DOB 8 Jan 1901, Whitefield, Died British Columbia, Canada, 1980
5 Marie Florida DOB 17 Aug 1903, Whitefield, Died Saskatchewan, Canada, 1989
6 MARIE JOSEPHINE DOB 21 May 1905, Whitefield, Died Saskatchewan 1931
7 Annie DOB 2 Aug 1906, Whitefield, Died 2 Jan 1907, Whitefield
8 Rose DOB 13 Dec 1907, Whitefield, Died British Columbia, Canada, 1991
9 Eva May DOB 16 Nov 1909, Lisbon, Died British Columbia, Canada, 1991
10 Georges DOB 29 Nov 1913 Henribourg, Saskatchewan, Canada, Died British Columbia, Canada, 2009
Margaret Dunphy Levasseur 1951-2010

HOULTON and LIMINGTON, MAINE - Margaret "Mag" Dunphy Levasseur, 59, passed away June 1, 2010, at Mercy Hospital, after a short illness. She was born March 26, 1951, in Houlton, daughter of the late Gerald and Dorothy (Shaw) Dunphy. Margaret graduated from Houlton High School in 1969 and went on to graduate from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She was a physical education teacher for 37 years at Bonny Eagle Middle School and had been a clan leader at the school. In 2008 she received an award from the school for outstanding leadership and service to SAD 6. She had also been a longtime field hockey coach, for which she was the feeder system for many state championship teams. It was her leadership and passion for her students and sports that enabled many of the sports programs at the school to succeed. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, puzzles - especially Sudukos - and being with her cherished friends. Mag was a member of M.A.H.P.E.R.D and Salmon Falls County Club, where she served on the board of governors and held the club championship for several years. Margaret is survived by her brother, Bert Dunphy of Houlton; a cousin, Mary Tilton of Florida; and many beloved friends and students whom she considered family. A graveside memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Jessie Drysdale officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margaret's memory to the Faith Littlefield and Flossie Smith Scholarship Fund, Bonny Eagle High School, 700 Saco Road, Standish, ME 04084. A service of Dunn Funeral Home.
Published in Bangor Daily News on July 8, 2010
Please do not ask me any questions about this family, I am simply posting the obituary for general information.

I know some of my grandfather's half brothers sons - Angèle's grandchildren- perhaps they could help you. I could give you their names if you wish. They run a plumbing company in Montreal called Plomberie Bertrand Durand.
Karen!!!

Geez, I was surprised to get a response from YOU! Thanks for the info! I do remember getting a listing of Merciers, I think on this website from Grandpa Mercier's military records, and, there were a few Merciers listed, however, no, I don't know of any brothers and sisters offhand.

This geneaology thing certainly is interesting! Thanks, very much, for the info.

I'll tell my mom about the get together for your dad. It's a good thing it's not right now, though. Money is more than a little tight right now...strangulating, actually! I'll keep you posted, also.

I'll also ask her about that name you mentioned, because I'm not familiar with it. Thanks, again!

Cherie

Hey Cherie! Just saw this. I posted a little more info but nothing much...do you know if grandpa Fred had any sisters or brothers and whether the names I posted were them? Dad also remembers getting invited to George Stratton's home in New Haven. Thinks Stratton may have been married to one of his aunts...just not sure who..

Hope all is well. Will probably be having a party next summer up in CT for Dad's 80th. Will keep you all posted.

Love to all, Karen D

Hi, in regards to Anthony Ouellette, there was a Tony Ouellette in Limestone that I picked potatos for back in the 1950's. I do have info on where one of his sons live. I was born in 1942 and his oldest boy was about three years older than me so the timeline would be about right. Email me if you think this could be of help to you.
Yes, Aunt Vivian! I recall visiting regularly. Many years ago now.

I have not been to Shreveport in quite awhile but, I have many fond memories of the house at 1034 Pierremont. It always seemed like such a big home in my childhood. I remember my last visit. It seemed small and unremarkable. Except for that steep driveway.

I have lived in the Houston area since 1974 and have twenty-one years with Bayer Corporation behind me now. I work in Human Resources at the company's Baytown chemical manufacturing site. Glyn, my mother, lives near by and is doing well. You may have heard that Paula, her sister, died recently.

I never had children. I have, however, been blessed with the chance to help raise a few. I even thought I was going to adopt a "step" grandchild. Would'nt that be history repeating itself?

I hope this found you well and in good cheer. I'm sure I'll check back in sometime in the future.

Kind Regards,
z

He married Bonnie Bell in the 1960's, in Florida. My Step-Father is
Shaun Fuqua LeVasseur and he is desperate to know anything about his LeVasseur roots.
Zeb Le Vasseur had another sister, Vivian. Her married name was Barnes, and she was the oldest of the girls. She was my grandmother. Okay, I just saw your signature. I think you, I and more cousins played kickball at least once, in the back yard on Pierrmont. I still drive by that house sometimes.

I still remember Uncle Zeb, sitting in his easy chair, reading the paper. And I remember Aunt Peggy, serving fish to us kids. And--I remember you and your sister. I looked for your email here but can't find it.

Very nice to hear from you...

Lenora

To May
The Clariste Plouffe's sister was my wife's grandmother on her mother's side. The name you gave does not show in the family records, is there another translation. So you can see that we do have a substantial collection of data and photos on this family. Yes we do have the death record on Clariste also her parents. You have Clariste & John marraige date so you must know the parents names. I am not fishing but trying to determine if we are on the same track.
send reply to patennis@charter.net

What is your area of interest, on the Ploof side or the Levasseur side.
My wife's grandfather on her mother's side was a brother to John (Jean) Levasseur. Yes we have been finding more on the movements and migrations all the time. Yesterday we visited Bay County Courthouse Vital Records to check on the death records. This message board has many relations to John & Clarice posted. We have marriage certificate for John & Clarice, Baptismal records, census 1881 Canada, census in US. Most of the family moved to auto plants in Detroit. Many photos of the family.
Looking forward to hearing from you
