I think you may be the relatives we never got to meet in our life. My grandfather was Carl Byron and he had a sister that I know of named Melissa, however I do not know if he had any other siblings. He married Eleanor Kropfelt and was a Cincinnati Fireman. They had two children/ George and Carl Levingston. We were told that he was from Newark, Ohio. i wonder if you are related?

Mark: Not sure IF you're still on here or not, but I have the information you're looking for. I've been doing research on the Levingston/Livingston(e) family in this area for 30+ years. We rececently discovered via FamilyTree YDNA that the original name was Liebenstein from Baden, Germany, 1720's & further back to Zurich, Switzerland, 1500's.
Yes, I'm related. He was my great grandmother's half-brother. When you search for the Livingston/Levingston family from Taylor County, you will learn that Randle's father, Matthew Newton Livingston, was originally a Carmichael. Matthew's father is James Barnibus "Barnes" Carmichael, from Telfair County, Georgia. The family story is that either James or Matthew (I can't remember which, although I'm leaning toward Matthew) killed a man in Georgia. Back then, there was no extradition law between Georgia and Florida, so he packed up his family and moved to Taylor County, changing his last name in the process. Livingston is Matthew's mother's maiden name (Mary W Livingston). That threw me off when I first started searching for my mom's grandmother's family, how they were Livingston's but were Carmichael's only a generation or two before.

I don't have a place or date of his death written down, but I will double check my survey book of Taylor County Cemeteries.

Also, there is a genealogist that I recently got into contact with about the Livingston family, Mr. Jessie Paulk in Salem, Florida, and he recently confirmed that he's going to put together a Livingston/Carmichael book. He's a really knowledgeable guy, so you might try getting in touch with him for questions.

The William Randle Levingston that you're looking for is listed in my tree as simply "Randle Livingston". He was born 27 MAR 1895.

He is listed with his family in the 1900 Census (http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/ViewRecordRedir.aspx?tid=235961...) and the 1910 Census (http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/ViewRecordRedir.aspx?tid=235961...).

He also drafted into WWI (http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/ViewRecordRedir.aspx?tid=235961...)

As you stated, he married Beulah P Packard in Taylor County, and they had three kids:

*George Newton Livingston
1918 – 1982

*Inez Mattie Livingston
1920 – 1983

*William Randle Livingston
1922 – 1998

George and Sarah (Nickey) Lebenstein; inadequate facts

BACKGROUND: In 1940 Mrs. Ella Metsker Milligan, Instructor Emeritus in History of the Fine Arts, University of Denver, published “A History of the Nickey Family in America: 1700 A.D. – 1940 A. D.” It states on page 34 that Sarah Nickey, died early, was a widow and married the second time George Lebenstein. Sarah is the daughter of John Nickey/Niecke (born 1748/49 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, died 1788 in Donegal Township, Lancaster Co.) and Mary, (maiden surname, birth and death dates unknown). It also states that the source for the marriage is from the Records of Lancaster Co., Deed Book K, Volume 3, Page 243. Mrs. Milligan’s book can be read on Google and Ancestry.com.

PROBLEMS:

GEORGE LEBENSTEIN: Which George Lebenstein alive during this time period is the one married to Sarah? What are his birth, death, and marriage dates? Where was he born, lived, died, buried, etc.? Who are his parents?

SARAH NICKEY: What are her birth, death, and marriage dates, etc.? Who was her first husband? What are the birth, death, marriage dates, etc. of her first husband? What is the maiden surname of her mother?

Sarah is my third great aunt. I have currently identified the existents of 1,185 surname Nickey’s and spouses. My work is far from complete, but I’m willing to share everything I have. Due to my age, I’m eager to locate individuals that would like the information and possibly continue and is willing to share it with others. Any information/help you can provide on the above problems would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bradley (Brad) Baer Nickey.
Its Livingston Levingston or Livingstone, one name one start

Just wanted to make note that in many years of Livingston family reasearch the variants of the Livingston name most often were on purpose. While the family name and all Livingstons trace back to ancient Scotland. It's said that it starts with Baron de Leving , later his son Leving of Levingstoun, and in the following generation Alexander of Livingston ect. As this noble family grew and divided all egar to be identified individually, the made slight variations to differentiate between the clans.Highlands were simply Livingston, lowlands Livingstone ect.
While early colonial history of the Livingstons is amazing, the scottish history is equally grand.

James Roger Levingston

I am hoping that someone out there might be able to help us. I have been researching my wife's family for several years but have had a very difficult time tracing her paternal grandfathers side. The problem? Well her father was adopted. We have his birth certificate and from that we got both his parents name, or so we were hoping. Mary Naomi Adams is his mother. We have been able to trace her side very easily and have even had contact with one of her sisters just before she passed away. On the birth certificate his father is named as James Roger Levingston. Based on the age listed for him on the certificate he was born abt. 1917. Mary gave birth at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington D.C. (long since destroyed and most documents missing) Mary's father was Nathan Benjamin Adams. We spoke with Mary's sister, Opal, several years back and she knew that Mary had been 'sent' to Washington but she said that she did not know why. At this point I am stuck with namthing but a name and rough birthdate for James Roger Levingston. Any possible help or direction would be much appreciated.

One additional bit, Mary kept her baby for a few months eventually leaving him with a family in Virginia by the last name Drury.

I have information on your Andrew Levingston. He was the son of John Levingston, of Licking county, Ohio. I have some of his siblings as well as other data. Please contact me at 'ronna8@alltel.net' if you'd like. I've been 'chasing' Levingstons of this area for about 30 years. Have compiled quite a bit of data, including your Andrew. There were several Andrew L* in this area; I believe they are all related, either siblings and/or cousins.

I am looking for any info on Andrew Levingston in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio. He was born about 1815 and married Marcia (Martha) Herd in 1842. They had at least three children: Marcia, Buchanan, and Lushis. Andrew died in February 1860. Does anyone have any background on Andrew? It is close enough to Licking County that it seems he could very well be descended from that group of Levingstons. Any info is appreciated.

I am looking for information from anyone who might have relatives with the same last name(s) and whose relatives have links to Jamaica.
Maude (Nash) GORDON-LEVINGTON: Maude Nash (circa 1884- 1965) married Enoch P. GORDON (who died circa 1917) and later married (2) Mr. Levington....

Maude Nash, daughter of William Walter NASH and Lizzie REAGAN, was born in Water Valley area of MS sometime between 1884 and 1887. Maude married Enoch GORDON in 1901 or 1902 and had at least one son (son possibly named Edward?) and a daughter named Elizabeth Gordon.

The family may have moved to Texas briefly before Maude's husband Enoch P. GORDON died in 1917 or 1918. However by the late 1930s, Maude had remarried to a Mr. Levington and was living in the Los Angelos area of California. Maude's widowed father William Walter Nash (circa 1860-1950) soon moved out to Los Angelos to join her.

I have photos from the 1940s of Maude (Nash) Gordon-Levington with her father and some of her Nash cousins (my g.grandmother was a first cousin)... and many earlier Nash family photos from the 1850s thru 1890s. Anyone connected please contact me by replying on this Rootsweb.com (Nash) message board.... or at Lenrein@aol.com

John Stanley Levingston, born 1891, Washington DC, lived Hamilton Co., OH abt 1900

I have two photos of John Stanley Levingston which I would like to get back in the hands of family members. Both photos were taken in Cincinnati, OH, one in about 1892, and it shows John in a christening gown; the second was taken "at age 9", in about 1900.

The 1930 census for Cincinnati shows John Stanley Levingston as age 39, a roomer, and single, so that verifies the information on the photos. The 1920 D.C. census shows a John (age 51) and Christine (45) Levingston, so they may have been his parents?

If you are related to this family, please email me at margerice@prodigy.net

I am researching the Livingston. In census records, it was frequently misspelled 'Levingston'. My family migrated from Marion Co., Ga. to Etowah Co., Al. in the 1870's-80's. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mickey
