I don't know, back in the sixties adoptions were secret. You became a child of your adopted family in every way. Even your birth certificate had only your adopted parents information on it. Do you know what adoption agency the baby was adopted out of?

Chrissy

Hi. Just off the phone with sister. Violet(Girlie)Leibel m George Nagle had 2 children-- Clifford and Norman. He has 2 children from 1st marriage. He recalls that his Uncle Frank had 11 children and George didn't have as many .Is that true?? Doesn't remember their names, altho as a child he did see at least part of Franks's family every week or so. They were living in Brooklyn at time. Great to find family..Norman would be interested as well as sister and I. Would you prefer to do that on e-mail? My address is danalee99@Juno.com
I had also found other Leibel names that I don't know fit in with family or not. Most NY residences. I will call them tonight to see what they have. I did this several years ago and my folders all packed up and I will have to dig out. Would be great if Norman found out more about family. Thanks. We are in close contact with the Michigan branch also, besides your father's children from his second marriage. I don't know where you're living. I'd love to share my info with you.
Hi Chrissy. My name is Kari. I am from a "Liebel" family. My mom's maiden name was Liebel. My family is from Tehachapi, CA. Pretty close to Santa Monica. "Liebel" is a pretty rare name these days. Try looking into Tehachapi, CA, Bakersfield, CA, and other surrounding towns. From what I know, there is the "Liebel Ranch" still. I think there is one more person living there but don't know who it is. Anyways, if you want, send me an email and I can do a little research. My dad was adopted and has recently found his biological family and I can only hope that I can help others in the same situation. Email me @ kari_loomis16@yahoo.com

I thought it was pretty funny that we have the same name and are born in the same year, I am also born in 1960. My fathers grampa is from Austria and i have read about it exist a larger Liebelfamily in Bayern, Germany. Do you have any information of any Liebels in Europe or in the US? Btw, my nephiew lives in Chicago.

Portrait of Christopher & Kuneigunda Liebel, Cincinnati, OH, 19th century.

The November 2005 issue of MAINE ANTIQUE DIGEST magazine on p. 13-E pictures two portraits of Christopher & Kuneigunda Liebel of Cincinnati, OH, 19th century. The portraits sold at auction for $14,300 in August, 2005.

I am scanning these portraits in case any of the Liebel descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Even though the reproduction of the portraits is poor because they are printed on newsprint, somebody in the family ought to have them--they are too good to be missed by the family.

If you'd like a copy of the portraits, please reply to me directly by email rather than by posting a reply on this site, which I may not see.

If it were a portrait of a Mr. Pease, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.

Bill Pease, Lancaster, PA
