Hi Heather,
I've not done any family history stuff for a while but have just started getting back into it. I've found a document which may be of intrest to you (you may already have it)which shows that Alan Neale Lilley went to the Glacier Hotel in British Columbia. It also says that he did not intend to stay there so he possibly came home at some stage. In the corner is a date 30.6.32, is this maybe when he returned, I don't know. I have attached the document and hope you find it of intrest.
Regards,
Shaun.

P.S. My e-mail address has changed it is now
shaun.suelilley@sky.com

My goodness, I just read your email...I have a copy of two letters between Cora Amanda Smith Lilley and Lizzie Smith Deason. In that letter, among other things, Cora says her husband was a Baptist preacher, and that he had recently died.

David Orlander Smith was Cora's brother, and he was my great-grandfather. Seems as if he had two families, and the one in Perry County AL is now very large. I have been looking for his relatives around Polk/Hardin area, so please write back!

The Joseph Alfred Lilley who married Minerva DeLoach was born in Wilkinson County, Mississippi and died in Columbia, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. His father Miles Lilley was born about 1785 in North Carolina and died in 1833 in Woodsville, Wilkinson County, Mississippi. I do have more facts about Miles but he is as far back as I can trace the Lilleys. Miles was my g-g-g grandfather.

My name is Catherine Marie (Lilley) Watts b:5-12-1970/Baltimore, MD. I have a brother Paul Franklin Lilley Jr. b:6-01-1972. We are the children of Paul F. Lilley Sr. b:8-11-1948/Maryland and Carol Lee Kunkle b:8-03-1951/Maryland. My fathers parents were: William Edward Lilley b:11-11-1910 d:2-03-1961 and Margaret R (??) b:abt 1910 d:March of 1980 or 1981/Baltimore, MD. I never met my grandfather and my grandmother raised me but the actual year of death is fuzzy. I am trying to obtain information on this side and on them. Family is spread out and I can't get enough information to move past my grandparents. I do know that Margaret was married before William to a unknown that passed within the first year of marriage and no children from that marriage. However, William and Margaret had a total of 4 children: Barbara M.(Lilley)Staigerwald (1st child), William Edward Lilley Jr.(2nd child), Paul Franklin Lilley Sr.(3rd child), and John (?) Lilley (4th child). I did obtain birth and death for William from the Military Gravesite website but that's it. I have no information on Margaret's side and would like that also to add to my tree. Any information about Lilley's in MD or surrounding states would be appreciated.

My Grandfather was William Edward Lilley b: 11-11-1910 d:2-03-1962 who married my grand mother Margaret R(?) b:(?) d:3-1981 or 1982. I lived with her from birth until her death in Baltimore City, MD. I've been told that she was married briefly to someone else before William but he passed within a year of that marriage and she had no children with him. However, she had 4 children with William:Barbara, William Jr, Paul F., and John. I am one of the 2 children Paul had: Catherine Marie (Lilley) Watts b: 5-12-1970/Baltimore City, MD. I too am having difficulties with getting any further with my tree on this side. I either have too many William and Margaret's or like they woke up and decided to use the name because no one knows where they came from. I have 13 generations on my mothers side but only 3 for my father. Any information helps.

i am also researching the skinner family around the time of 1885 when my great grandmother worked for the family as a housemaid . i believe the family lived in norwood london and there were at least two sons that i know of in the house at the time . one of whom supposedly fathered my grandmother [illegitemately]as a result of which she was thrown out on the street as was very common at that time. if you look up the family on google there is more info on the family dating back hope this is of interest. fiona.

Flora Grace Lilley

This message also posted on the "HUGG" message board:
I discovered an old Bible among my parents' belongings. I have no idea how it is connected with my family. There are no family notes just the owner "Fred Hugg Manchester, Kans" in the front. Also found in this Bible is an obituary:: Flora Grace Lilley
Flora Grace Lilley, second daughter of Aaron and Mary Lilley, was born Dec 9, 1893 in Dickinson County, Kansas, near Solomon, and died at the home of her parents in Abilene, May 16, 1924., aged 30 years, 5 months, and 7 days. She had a very sweet quiet disposition and an earnest Christian and affectionate daughter and sister. Her wise counsel and sensible advice will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her best. She was converted when quite young, joined the M. E. Church and as a teacher in the Sunday School for several years before coming to Abilene. She had suffered many months but was so patient in her affliction, even her mother who was always with her and waited on her did not realize how terribly she suffered, until the end, when she passed away so quietly and peacefully to meet her Savior.
She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, two sisters, Anna and Lottie of Abilene, and one brother Frank, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, beside a host of other relatives and friends. Just the day before she died she had her hymn book and sang some of her favorite hymns. She was ready to go but did not speak of it, knowing how it would hurt the loved ones.Oh! it is hard to give her up but she has only gone before and will be waiting for us while she is safe in the arms of Jesus.
We shall meet but we shall miss her
There will be a vacant chair;
We shall linger to caress her
While we breathe our evening prayer.
****************
Just below this article is the following:
Card of thanks
We desire to thank our many kind friends for their assistance and sympathy during the illness and death of our beloved daughter and sister. Also for the many beautiful flowers.__-- A. F. Lilley and family
********************
If family members wish either of these items, email me at
rhodesrunner29@hotmail.com

Hi
I have a strange piece of memorabilia that may interest you - or may not! My grandfather was killed by a Lilley and Skinner autocar in Hackney in 1915. It was not the fault of the driver (am not trying to sue!) but I have the newspaper report which is a lovely piece of history. I am very curious to know what one of the three-wheeled autocars would have looked like. Would you have any old photos? If you let mee have your email I will give you the cutting....and would be grateful for any info you have on the nature of the autocar. Thanks Jane Tritton

I have a Nellie Connell with parent's Patrick and Mary but, according to my info, she was born in 1867 not 1875. She was born in CT but I'm not sure what town.
