Re: Searching for Photos on Summers County, WV Lillys

I am the granddaughter of Cynthia Jane Lilly Lilly Lilly, daughter of Miller Bob (Robert Calvin Lilly) and wife of Thomas Hubbard (sometimes listed as Thomas Jefferson Lilly) and Arthur Bee Lilly. I have dozens of old photos, some unidentified, that belonged to her. I shared several dozen photocopies with Ellen Pritchard (daughter of official Lilly Reunion genealogist who died a few years ago) for posting at the 2007 reunion. Did you see any of them? I also have others. I'm not certain if any of these are of your ancestors, but I'm certainly willing to share. If any of these people are your direct ancestors, I will send you the original photo(s). Please answer so we can figure this out. I do not have a great deal of time for the next month or so: moving tomorrow and going to Hawaii to spend Christmas with family, but I will do what I can. If all else fails, I can help after my return in January. Take a look at my public tree (Eden's Harvest) by searching for my grandmother. I posted a few photos of the ancestors before my equipment decided not to cooperate. I will certainly be doing more in January, but that won't help you much right now. Please send list of any particular photos you want, and I'll research as soon as I return.

Hello everyone. Jane Elizabeth Lilly was my great Aunt! My paternal grandmother, Mary Athelene Lilly Baird, was her older sister. My family was very close to all 3 sisters and all their offspring and their children and remains so to this day. In fact, my mother always claimed that "Aunt Betty" was her best friend. I grew up in Pennsylvania down the street from the 3rd sister (the youngest), Lucille Bam Lilly Bowden. My Aunt Lu is the mother of Tracey - the cousin you spoke of that is the treasure hunter. He currently lives near my parents, who are both still alive and in contact with him frequently. I even have a photo of my Aunt Lu and her Mother, my Great Grandmother Theora, in my shop. Plus, I named one of my miniature horse fillies JANE ELIZABETH (nickname "LIZZIE") after my Aunt Betty. I already owned the filly's older sister, who came with the name of MOLLY, which was Mary Athelene's nickname. Only seemed right to name the sister horses after the real sisters. Contact me if you are interested in more info. Susan

Re: Robert Lilly

Hi, this is Joyce Menusan and I am not the person you have been communicating with but I think you can help me. My mother was Martha Jane Lilly (1870-1959) who married Benjamin Bell. Martha's parents were James Lilly (1825-1900)and Virginia Ferrell. James parents were Robert Lilly (1776-1868)and Obedience Conley. Robert's parents were Robert Lilly (1740-1817) and Mary Frances Moody (1745-1818).

When I look on other ancestery charts on the net, I see that Robert parents were Robert Lilly (1720-1828) and Dorothy Billups (1672-1730). I do not think this can be because Dorothy would have been 48 years old when her husband was born. I think this is where things get messed up. I am not sure of the lineage after Robert (1740-1817) and Frances Moody (1745-1818) who is of the WV family. It appears if there was another Robert Lilly, Dorothy cannot be his wife. I was born in Logan County and lived in Lincoln County for the first 16 years of my life but now I am retired and living in The Villages, FL. I am trying to get our family history down as there are quite a few of my nieces and nephews who are interested but cannot find anyone to help them. I have told them a lot but it needs to be in print and I hope you can help me. Thank you a lot.

To all those cousins out there, I extend my sincere apologies. I know you're all waiting to find out what's in my grandmother's stash of Lilly photos, and I've let you down. All I can say is that I'm trying desperately to get these photos onto the tree.
I have severe short-term memory loss thanks to the rheumatic heart. And I've been on such a roller-coaster ride the last three years: the immediate family has had six deaths, three births, four cancers, two heart emergencies, two marriages, one break-up of a long-term relationship, three car wrecks, bad weather, and so many other things I can't see straight!

Am beginning to get to old photos to add to the tree; it will hopefully be in a few weeks so I can wrap this up before heading out to HI for Christmas with the little ones.

Welcome to the great legend. From Dewey (pg 218) back to Thomas Edmond (pg188) in Jack Lilly's book LILLY FAMILY HISTORY 1566-1997 your line is there with dates, details, etc.

The great LILLY REUNION each year celebrates near the Robert & Fannie Lilly Monument where their original markers are at the base. Yes, they give Robert & Fannie 114 & 111 year life spans. 1696-1810 and 1696-1807. Which makes the children listed born when she was in her later years 70+. Is there a missing generation? -somethink so
but this is the way it has been handed down. Good luck. Vernon

Mary Ann Lilly (1738-1839) from Fluvanna, Virginia was my (6x) great-grandmother through the Perkins family, and the family genealogy I was given lists her father as Edmond (1716 - post 1777) and grandfather as Charles Lille (1673 - 1748) from France. However, I'm finding other genealogies that list Arminger as her father (which is the same line), as well as some that say Edmond's father was named John and they were from England. I am thoroughly confused. Can anyone clear this up for me?

I am interested in Mary Ann Polly Lilly Bowman also. On the 1850 Stokes Co Nc census, there were 2 lilly boys. One was John Lilly age 19 (I think) and William W. Lilly age 8 (I believe) My great grandmother married both of these Lilly's. At least I think these would have been her husbands. I can't find them anywhere else. William W. Lilly and Rosanna(Unknown maiden name)were married in 1860 and were living in WASHINGTON Co VA. William was killed in the Civil War. She then moved to Lee Co Va and was supposed to have married William's brother John. Do you know anything about these 2 brothers? Any help would be appreciated!

Help, just starting and easily confused

Just started with family tree,
Father Dewey Lilly,
Grandfather William C Lilly,
Greatgrandfather Hiram R. Lilly,
GGGfather William H (Groundhog Bill)Lilly,
GGGGfather Pleasant Lilly,
GGGGGfather Thomas Edmond Lilly,
Then it seems to go to Robert Lilly-but I'm confused to date of birth. 1696, 1720, or 1742. Since Thomas Edmond Lilly was born 1775 in VA either of the last 2 MAY be more likely, but 1st Robert lived 114 years-maybe just great gene pool? Any help would be appreciated.
William

Lilly Family - Sussex County, Virginia

Hello - My name is Jeff Lilly, and I am searching for information about the parentage of one Frederick Lilly (b. 1752, Sussex Co., VA). He is my GGGG-Grandfather. I have a viewed his will and have a very viable genealogy of his descendants, but nothing of value before him.

There is a book of the proceedings of the Albermarle Parish in Sussex and its predecessor county (shire) that discusses Lillys in its baptismal records. But there is not a definitive connection.

I would like to bust through this wall. Any help?

Thanks,

Jeff Lilly
jeff.lilly@thethirdhouse.com
Greenfield, Indiana

My name is Catherine (Lilley) Watts-the daughter of Paul F. Lilley Sr. who was born to William E. and Margaret Lilley. William died when my father was 14 and I never met him. Margaret raised me in Baltimore City, Maryland until she died in March 1981. They also had 3 other children:Barbara, William Jr., and John. I am looking for any family members that can give me information on my grandfather and grandmother. I do know he was in the Army as well as my Uncle William (Eddie) and my Uncle John went into the Navy. Any information about my grandparents would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there ....I wonder how far you have gotten in the research. I have recently come across the parents of the original John Lilly who first came over. From there i have since gone back several more 100 or so years. I have a family history book that was compiled by a great uncle Charles Silas Hatcher. This is what got me started. I have since added all kinds of new info the book and i plan on redoing it to hand out. I have all my information cited and have spent plenty on the books proving my info. Anything any of you may have would be appreciated. Thanks so much..Great grand daughter of Clara bell Basham ...Kristabelle Dietrich

I have no idea about the subjects in so many of these old photos. I sent copies of many of them to Ellen Pritchard whose father had been the genealogist of the Lilly Reunion, but I haven't heard back if anyone ever identified the subjects. These photos are definitely of the Lilly Clan. I hope to get some time with my daughter in organizing them and posting them in hopes of identifying the subjects and getting the original photos to direct descendants.
