Helen Zadorozny Lininger,age. 97,
passed away Monday, March 12, 2012. Helen was born September 20, 1914 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was the daughter of the late John and Frances Rogowski Zadorozny. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Lininger and eight brothers and sisters, Joseph, Katherine, Victoria, Edward and Charlotte Zadorozny, Mary Urbanick, Olga Morris and John Zador. Helen is survived by her son, Kenneth and his wife Sheila, of Mineral, Va.; two grandchildren, Kenneth Jr., and wife Rebecca, of Irvin, Calif. and Valerie Gerding and husband Bill of Louisville, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren, Tristan, Brandon, Austin, Savanna, Sophia and Stella. Helen is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. During her early years, Helen worked in a variety of jobs, ranging from a nurses aid in Edinboro, Pa. to factory work in Erie, Pa. during WWII. After the birth of her only child, Kenneth, she devoted herself to being a full time homemaker. During this time, she was very active in the PTA and the Rosary Society at St. Joseph Parish. Her participation in the Rosary Society continued into her late 80's, when a stroke and the onset of dementia stopped her contribution. Helen spent her last years at her son's home on Lake Anna in central Virginia where she enjoyed boating, walking outdoors, reading, and playing with the family cat, Gus. Helen was known for her gracious nature, high spirit, infectious sense of humor, her intelligence and her strong work ethic. She was a wicked card player, and if there were a song to sing or a dance to dance, she was first in line. Even to the end, Helen always woke up with a smile on her face. Helen leaves a legacy of service to her community, selflessness and compassion as a caregiver, and courtesy and generosity among her family and friends. Friends may call on Friday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Saturday at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community at 9 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Crossingville, PA.

This is my husbands line:
John D. Laninger, Sr married Anna Maria Gaines
Their son William "Willis" Ernest Lininger married Theresa Hemmis.
Their son Robert William Lininger married Anna Dorothy Drohan. (other children include Mary Ann, Gene Thomas, Earl, and John "Jackie")
Their son Robert Francis Lininger married Catherine Hagmaier. (other children include Kathleen, Debra, and Robert)
Their son Thomas Ronald Lininger married me - Kathleen Mary Broderick.

Anna Snyder has a great connection for this line, but haven't seen her post in a while.

Stella M. Lininger, 95, of Lock Haven, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in the Lock Haven Hospital.

She was born Aug. 29, 1912 in Karthaus, a daughter of the late Walter and Jane Allen Kliaber.

She married Francis E. Lininger,
who preceded her in death in 1991.

Stella was a 1930 graduate of Renovo High School. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Renovo.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

Surviving are four daughters, Frances Bauman of Lock Haven, Mariam Brown
and Jean Rinker both of McElhattan,
and Linda Bickford of Woolrich;
two sons, Harold of Enon, Ohio,
and Gary of Swissdale;
13 grandchildren,
21 great grandchildren
and 14 great great grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

"Most Leiningers in Europe and U.S.A. appear to be descended from two ancestral groups:
1) Philipp Leininger, fl. 1600, Lichtenberg, Bas-Rhin, France; probable grandsons (cousins) Philipp Jacob Leininger, 1627, and Johann Jacob Leininger, 1638, moved to Mietesheim 1679-80; other descendants in Bas-Rhin and nearby Germany; numerous desc. in U.S.A. over two centuries. Another group as yet unconnected, early 1600s in Wolfisheim, Bas-Rhin.
2) Leininger around 1600, Reutlingen, Wuertemberg, Germany. Descendant Sebastian Leininger came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1748 with grown/young children; killed in 1755 in Indian massacre, leaving descendants of dau. and 2 youngest sons."

Oops. I just located the obituary of a William Leninger, who died in 1949 in Cook Co., IL & this is the WRONG person.

At present, the best I can say is that William Lininger was shown on the 1930 census of Evanston in Cook Co., IL. He doesn't appear in the Illinois Death Index, so he either moved elsewhere or died sometime after 1950.

I am seeking his exact deathdate and place, and a copy of his obituary.

Actually, my great great grandfather is Charles Lininger/Leininger (1838 - ????) who came to Ohio from Bavaria. Could your Charles be a descendent of his?

William Harding Lininger was born on Dec. 12, 1862 in Galion (Crawford Co.), OH. As of 1905, he lived in Topeka, KS. On Nov. 19, 1905, he joined the Sons of the American Revolution, on behalf of the service of his Revolutionary War ancestors, Benjamin Dowse and Nathaniel Kittridge.

William H. Lininger died on Feb. 18, 1949 in Cook Co., IL. The Illinois Death Index spelled his name Leninger. The 1920 and 1930 censuses showed him living in Evanston, IL.

I am seeking his obituary.

I am trying to find out if John D. Lininger, who married Anna M. Gaines in Clinton Co., PA in 1868 was the son of Peter John Lininger, and if so, what year was he born. I have a family tree that shows he was born in 1848 in Germany, but Peter was in the US by then. Also, the 1880 census shows him to be 55 years old, born in Germany. That would make him born ine 1825. If anyone could help me connect these two, I would greatly appreciate it. There seemed to be more than one John in Clinton Co. at that time.

"ANDOVER -- Lininger, Louie Mae (McAllister), 79, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 23, 2005. Born July 10, 1926 to Rev. D.N. & Katy May McAllister in Kenton, OK, Lou attended Wichita's Wesley Nursing school and graduated in 1947. Throughout her career, she worked as a registered nurse, private duty, in all the Wichita hospitals, while raising her four children.
In 1980, she traveled to Haiti to work as a missionary nurse for the Children's School of the Deaf. In 1984, she retired and moved to Washington and in 2004, she returned to Kansas to be with her family. Lou was preceded in death by brothers Earl and John McAllister.

I am looking for researchers of this lineage who would like to share, compare, maybe fill in some blank spaces and attempt to knock down a few brick walls.

I do not have a lot of early history making solid connections. The family arrived from Germany to Philadelphia, early 1700’s, settled in Chester Co, PA (became Lancaster and York Counties). Various members migrated into what became Cumberland Co, PA (later Bedford, Franklin, Mifflin, Northumberland and Perry Counties).

Are there researchers who are of the lineage who migrated into Franklin and Somerset Counties, PA, along with Allegany and Garrett Counties, MD?

Hi i keep seeing your message about henry lininger i have found about 1o henry liningers and the henry that was born in 1797 was born in all my findings he was married to a catharine shetron in york then he shows up in mecer then ohio married to a mary palmer i have found him also in clearfield county cencus 1820 and1810 heidelberg berks my great grandfather was henry he was married to mary labord in clearfield county and he died there i hope this helps you because i know what its like the come to a dead end i have

Nicholas Lininger - born 1810 Germany

I am looking for information regarding Nicholas Lininger, born 1810 in Germany. Nicholas came to the US some time before 1840 and is found in the Carroll County, Ohio 1840 and 1850 Censuses. I come through a John Leininger, born in Ohio in 1843. The family of Nicholas has a son that fits this criteria. In the 1850 census, Nicholas is married to a Jane, also from Germany. The record indicates that they married within the previous year, suggesting that the mother of the children in the household had died and that Nicholas had remarried. I would appreciate any information that anybody has on this family. I have not been able to locate any of them, with the exception of John, in later censuses. Thank you for you help.

From information from the bible of Metta (Cochley) Snable..Elizabeth's father was George Leininger and her mother's maiden name was Lesh. I am a decendent of Michael & Elizabeth's daughter, Saloma. She was my gg grandmother.

In the 1850 Sugar Creek, Wayne Co., OH Census a Frederick Myers (age 21, b. ca. 1828, Germany) was listed as a farmer in the household of Frederick & Anna Linninger. The Linninger children listed were: Catharine, Edward, Emeline, John, Mary & Jennette.

I believe the Frederick Myers mentioned above is my husband's line, but am not sure. So, I thought I'd try to find out about the Linninger family this Frederick Myers was living with then.

I am looking for more information on George Lininger who was the son of Charles Eisentrout and Blanche Lininger. His mother died in 1918. George was living with his mother's parents in the 1920 census while his father was living nearby (possibly next door) with his brother. In the 1930 census Charles had remarried and George is listed in his home as George Lininger age 15. I do not know if he went by Lininger or Eisentrout as an adult.

Does anyone know who was the father of Lewis (Louis) born 1820 in Chambersburg, PA? He died March 28, 1899 in Listonberg then Listonville, PA. He married Margaret Grove(s) and they moved to the Cove(Bear Creek) near Bittiinger and/or Accident MD in 1880. He is reported to have had 21 children, of whom 17 are documented. I thank you for the information, but no, your Henry is not the same as mine. My Henry had a son named Joseph, but Henry was supposedly born in 1776 in Virginia, married a Catherine ?, moved to PA where Joseph was born, and then went back to Virginia. I assume he died there, but so far I have not been able to track anything about him.

Uniontown PA, or elsewhere? My grandmother's maiden name is Lininger. She and my grandfather moved here to Ohio in the 50s but a bunch of my family I hardly know still lives in PA. Her mother died when she was still young and her father remarried grandma Inez (sp?). She lives in Warren, Ohio with my grandma's step/half sister, Sissy. Hope this helps you.
