Hello Elizabeth Linnie, My name is Robert Joseph Linnie,my father's name was Joseph James Linnie , but he was born joseph James Linney ,as also was my Grandfathe.Sometime between 1912 when Dad was born , and 1933 when he married , the name was changed from Linney to Linnie . Don't know why . It appears that it changed across the board , everyone I know has the same story , none know the reason . We were all born in Ireland . Granddad and my Dad were born in Northern Ireland ,I was born in Dublin . Two of my Granddad's Brothers moved over to Scotland and that is how ,I believe , the Linnie's came to be in Scotland . There are descendants of the Scots in Victoria ,Australia . I emigrated here in 1963 , lived in Victoria until 2004 and moved to Tasmania where I am now . Our Family goes back Centuries in Ireland and I believe that originally , ALL of us will be Descendants of The O'Lunneys of Munterlooney .
Cheers , Bob , will be interested to hear back .

 Ben Linnie,
I suspect your Dad is Desmond Linnie, if so then I am your Uncle Bob in Australia . The name Linnie originates from LINNEY in Ireland as my Grandfather was Joseph Linney , and my Father was Joseph James Linney at Birth 1912 but changed to Linnie before 1933 when his Marriage Certificate shows Linnie . Your Mother will be Veronica Linnie nee Lord and she was my Dad's 2nd wife and lives in Manchester .
