Mary Linnington

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the information, but I do not think it is my Mary Linnington. My Mary was married abt. 1705 probably in Hemptstead LI and moved to NY with her husband John Bedell. John and Mary had: John b. 1706 m. Susanna Valentine; Jacob b. abt. 1707 m. Martha; Henry b. abt. 1710 m. 1st Mary Sutton 2nd---moved to Georgia; Sarah b. 171- m. Josiah Lee; Phebe b. 17`- m. -Thomkins. John Bedell married his second wife Ann Runyon (widow Layton) after 1750 so the children were all from Mary and John.

If we use Henry and Catherine's date of marriage, they would have been married in 1647, Mary was married in 1705. That is a period of 58 years. Mary had to have been young enough at her marriage to have moved to NJ and to have had 5 children. The numbers do not work out for me but I never say never, because I have been very wrong before.

Would be glad for your input.

Sincerely,
Wendy Schildwachter
Wendy316@bigfoot.com

Re: Parents of Mary Linnington of Hempstead

Mary's father was Henry Linnington, also known as John Henry Ellington. He had been born in England. He married Catherine Ellison about 1647 in Dorset England. He died in Hempstead, Long Island in 1692. He owned a mill and appears quite often in the colonial records of Hempstead. More information on both Henry's and Catherine's backgrounds are available at Rootsweb.com.. If you do a net wide genealogical search, for John Henry Ellington at Google.com, you will find some of the colonial records that point out our dear ancestor Henry as somewhat of a scoundrel. He will add a lot of color to your pedigree.
