I am wondering if soemone can help verify the information listed on the Litton Study Group site and also on Ancestry.com regarding Rebecca C. Litton. She was born 1822 and died 1912 in Lee County, VA. She married Alfred C. Lloyd. Her parents are ofetn listed as Alexander Duncan Litton and Mary Vermillion but I have seen no proof of this relationship. Can someone please point me to the source of that information regarding who her parents are? Rebecca is my 3g grandmother.

Thank you,
Sue

Ancestors and Descendants of Soloman Caleb Litton Sr by Canie Burns Litton

The book, "Ancestors and Descendants of Soloman Caleb Litton Sr" is listed in the Lytton Study Group for sale. However, it states that the author, Canie Burns Litton died before the book could be published. I am interested in knowing what happened to the book? Where is it located, can it be purchased or viewed?

The book contains first edition by Balfour Oliver Lytton of which 200 copies were published in 1950, and another booklet published in 1970 by Canie, "The continuous Litton families living in Russell County Virginia", plus some work by Joyce Broadman on the Litton's and associated families of Russell and Washington Counties Virginia.

The book also contains Litton Family data submitted by and with permission of donors, without documentations. The book deals with those of the Title, which are Littons in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and descended from Captain Soloman Caleb Litton Sr of Virginia, and his line back to Caleb Polleckfield Letton and wife Grace Hartley Burton Letton.

Thanks for your reply. I am interested in any additional information you may have. There have been many improvements made to ancestry.com in there short while that I have been a member.Recently in the church I attend we had a guest preacher, a Rev. Sistrunk. He is from the South, but now pastors in Detroit. How are the Littons connected to the Sistruck family ?

I have off of Ancestry.com for a few years since running into dead ends. I came back and have found many improvements and many more searchable records. Last month I also went to the Converse, Mitchell, and Pleasant Hill Cemetaries and have added many pictures documenting the Tombstones of the areas Litton, Britts, and some Sistrunks. I have been adding many records to all of these.

I am looking for information about my great grandmother, Rebecca Anice/Anise/Annanis/Alice LITTON, and her family. She was born 1879, Jackson County WV, and residing in Statts Mills, Jackson County, WV at the time of her marriage to Uriah Franklin HATCHER 8 Jan 1896 in Jackson County WV. She later married Milo MAYES. She sometimes went by her middle name which had several variations. Also I've seen her first name with one "c" and two and her last name spelled different ways in records I have researched. I have information on the HATCHER line but nothing about her or her second marriage. Would appreciate any information on her you are willing to share. Thank you, Carol

Burton and Solomon Litton

Hi, my name is Chance Litton.

My line in reverse chronological order is:
John Charles Litton (TX)
John Homer Litton (TX)
John Carmen Litton (NM)
James Solomon Litton (OK)
John Speed Litton (KY)
Burton Litton (KY)
Burton C. Litton (VA)
Solomon Litton (VA) - the extensively researched revolutionary war veteran.
and so on...

I've traced them through the Census' all the way to the Burtons. Unfortunately, because the Census' before 1850 don't show the names of children I can't verify the father/son relationship between the two Burtons other than they have the same name, live right next door to each other on the 1850 Census and the younger Burton is of the correct age to be the elder's oldest son marked as a 20-30 yr old on the 1840 Census. The brith year op the elder Burton Litton matches that son of Solomon Litton by the same name who was born in captivity.

So, my first request is for any information of these Burton Littons living in Whitley County, KY between 1800 and 1880.

Secondly, I have some confusion on the wives of these Burton's. OneWorldTree has a Jane Cox as the wife of the younger Burton, but I've found a marriage record on Ancestry of a widowed Burton of the right age and place marrying a Jane Fox six years after the birth of my John Speed Litton. I can't find any sources referencing Jane Cox other than uncited entries in OneWorldTree.

My third request relates to the famous Soloman Caleb Litton. I have found many transcribed accounts of letters, records and bibles, but no scans of the original documents. Does anybody possess these??? I would very much love to see them.

Thanks for reading!
LCDR Chance Litton, USN

Re: Benjamin Litton b. 1785 North Carolina

I may have your info on Josephine. I have in my Litton family archives a Josephine Catherine b:about the mid a850's in Virginia. She is the daughter of James Fullen Litton & Margaret Eunice Litton Litton. James Fullen is the son of John Whitley Litton & Sarah Pearl Fullen. Margaet Eunice is the daughter of Solomon Caleb Litton, Jr. & Judith Ann Shoemaker.
John Whitley Litton was the son of Solomon Saul Caleb Litton &
Martha Duncan. It still needs to be researched but that is the information that I have gathered so far. Anyway it gives you a place to start. Penny C.
Yes, I do have some info on Benjamin Litton. He was the son of Thomas Litton and Margaret Whitson. He was probably born in Lincoln Co., North Carolina as that is where they were married, his parents, October 20 1784. There were 14 children born to Thomas and Margaret. Margaret died in Owen Co.,Indiana;Thomas died October 10 1838 in Lawrence Co., Indiana. A brother named James lived in Oneida co., Tennessee
where he died March 24 1887. Maybe this will help. Penny C. Wicks ocelottinker@yahoo.com

Looking for the ancestry of Ursula Litton/Letton

Can someone please help me? My wife's 4th Great-grandmother is Ursula Letton (Litton?). She was born about 1804 in Bourbon County, Kentucky and married Stephen Terry on 3 Apr 1826. Besides the names of her children, I know nothing else about her or her family. We found several Littons living near them in the 1850 Census, but do not know the connections. My wife would like to find out more about her family. Can someone tell me about Ursula's parents, siblings, and other ancestors?

Thanks!
