Her mother was Mary Emma Livesay (not sure of her maiden name but possibly Baird/Bird/Byrd) and her father's name might have been Toni, or "Toni" could have been short for something like Anthony.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Roberta Black

Sponsored by the Livesay Historical Society which began in 1957. My grandmother was a Livesay. I am trying to find out the parents of Isaac Livesay, born 1812-1815 in Tennessee. Married Sarah Jane Gaines. They are both buried in the Gaines Cemetery n
tazewell Co., Illinois. Any info, will be greatly appreciated, Shirley Hammons Smith

Nancy - Thank you for posting this. George and Mary (Switzer) Livesay are in my ancestry line. From your transcription, I was able to determine too that the infant boy Livesay was the son of William R and A E Patterson Livesay. William R was one of the sons of George and Mary Livesay.

George Livesay and Mary Switzer headstones in Greenbrier Co., WV

Livesay Cemetery
Abandoned cemetery on the Goodwin Farm in the Richlands
Corner of Unus Road & Rt. 60
West Lewisburg, WV
Tombstone info. provided by Nancy Hopkins
nancyhopkins2@yahoo.com

Although some call this cemetery the Livesay Cemetery, many graves of earlier pioneer families are buried in this large cemetery. The Richlands Presbyterian Church once stood on the south side of Rt. 60 facing the cemetery located on the high hill surrounded by some large dead oak trees. Many of the local German and Irish families attended this church. Unfortunately the church records are missing so we don’t know exactly how many are buried in the cemetery.

Numerous unmarked graves exist in this large Greenbrier pioneer cemetery on the north side of Rt. 60 west of Lewisburg. Many headstones and gravestones have been destroyed and stolen. The size of the cemetery is approximately 100 yards by 100 yards so several hundred pioneer families lie in rest here.

Standing or surviving tombstones of our pioneer settlers include:

E.A. (no last name)
Oct 21, 1799

C.A. (no last name)
Dec 30, 1815

Dolly Mary Bowes
b. Mar 18, 1911
d.
Perdie (Poteet) Livesay (1882-1918) Lee Co VA

Death certificate 371-9905, issued by the commonwealth of Virginia, shows that Perdie Livesay died in the Jonesville District of Lee County, Virginia. She was a single white female who died at the age of 35 years. Her occupation was Housewife. She was born in Lee County, Virginia. Her father was Ben Poteet, who was born in Lee County, Virginia. Her mother was Sella Clanson, who was born in Lee County, Virginia. The informant was Wm. Hyden of Jonesville, Virginia. Perdie died on 25 April 1918. Primary cause of death was “Spinal trouble.” She was attended by Dr. S. E. Shelburne of Jonesville. Burial was in Ball Graveyard on 26 April 1918. The undertaker was Line Hyden of Jonesville. Transcription by Laura Keyes Perry. A few parts of this certificate are hard to decipher, and researchers should consult the original.

Note: The certificate does say that Perdie was single, even though she has a different surname than her father. The 1900 census lists Benjamin Poteet as born in January 1860, his wife Syler as born in [?] 1862, and their daughters Pirty and Ida – presumably twins -- as born in September 1882.
DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Livesay, Miss Georgia
Livesay, Lillian Mae (Mae)

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

I believe we are talking about 2 different Laura Belle Livesays. All we know about her is that she married Horace Greeley Edwards and they had about 5 children. When my m-i-l, ANNA LAURA EDWARDS was about 3 yrs. old her mother Laura Belle died, abt. 1910? When m-i-l was about 8 yrs. old she was sent to a orphanage/sanitarium as were the rest of her siblings. The only siblings name we know is Minna, Myna sp? who married Clay, last name unknown. She never talked about her parents/siblings. So alas it is a difficult task, but I'll keep on plodding along. My m-i-l, Anna Laura Edwards married Earl George Underwood. We don't know much about the Underwoods either.

Re: Newton Livesey

This is likely to be Newton Livesey, who was one of the sons of the 19th century Lancashire social reformer and founder of the Teetotal movement, Joseph Livesey. He (Newton) was born in 1823 and died in 1903. His daughter Mary married one Thomas Reveley, who is described as "the family solicitor" of the Liveseys. Seems pretty likely to me that this is the T Reveley you refer to and that he was one of the trustees of his father-in-law's estate.
