Helen Elizabeth Lowry was born on June 5, 1916, on a farm in Buckeye Township, Dickinson County, the daughter of Ray and Laura Livingston. She departed this life on May 14, 2008, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 9 days.
Helen attended Walnut Grove School and graduated from Dickinson Community High School with the class of 1934. On October 24, 1937, she was united in marriage with Rand Lowry in Talmage, to this union a son, Karl, was born. All of their married life was spent farming in the Buckeye community north of Abilene.
She was a skillful seamstress and excelled at baking. She attended the Bethany Church, taught Sunday school and occasionally served as pianist. Long drives in the country were a favorite pastime. An avid reader, she enjoyed many subscriptions always completing the crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Nautilus Club. Helen often related many interesting stories of the history and progress of the community in which she lived.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and a brother, Glen.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Livingston Cemetery with Roger Walls presiding. Pallbearers were Nick Avery, Nick Alvarado, Pete Hampton, Dennis Livingston, Kenneth Livingston and Jim Livingston.
