Hi - just received the report from the genealogist.
Rev. Samuel's father was John (1762-1799), said to be a farmer, married to Sarah Martin. Not much is known about them and in addition to Samuel, they had Robert, Joseph, James and Ann. There may of been more children but that is all I am aware of.
The father of John is Samuel Livingston and Ann Massey. He was a farmer and owned a corn mill in Gransha, Co. Down. I don't know much more about him but he and his wife also had Robert, Samuel (died young), James, Joseph, Mary, Ann and Samuel.
We are still missing several generation to tie the family back to the Livingston family in Scotland. They next thing i will need to do is hire a Scottish genealogist. Wish me luck. Mary

I am trying to find more information on my ancestor Hugh Livingston and his parents. He was born on 3 January 1809 and baptised on 5 February 1809 in Kilpatrick, Scotland. According the the old parish register he was a lawful son of Neil Livingston and Margaret Peacock but I can find no further information on them. He had a sister born the next year - Jane born 10 June 1810 and baptised in Kilpatrick, Scotland on 1 July 1810 - lawful daughter of Neil Livingston and Margaret Peacock.

Livingstons from Scotland to settle in PA

I am looking for others who are researching my family surname. Other surnames with this one include Todd, Daniels, Craig, Elder, St.Marie, Wagher, Gaylord and Wolverton. I especially am hunting for the parents of Hugh Livingston b 1821 d 1883 in IA and Mary Ann Todd b 1821 and died 1911 in IA. Most of my ancestors were immigrants from Scotland, Ireland and France who came to PA, Canada etc and moved westward with the expansion of the wagon trains and railroads. Most settled in IL, IA, SD, MT. Most were white, Anglo- Saxon Protestants who for the most part were educated. They farmed, ranched or had small businesses. Quite a few had the rambling gene and traveled extensively.

Hello.

I do believe you and I have the same Guy Livingston in common. My Grandfather is Harold B. Livingston, from Guy's first marriage to Ida Chase. Unfortunately I have just as little information about Guy Livingston as you do. From what I gather, Guy and Ida's divorce was pretty bad, and she wouldn't allow any one to speak his name, let alone try to get any kind of information about him. And of course I didn't become interested in my Ancestry until after my Grandfather Harold died. My father (son of Harold) knows very little as well. I have his date of birth 1873 and 1888, born in North Dakota, known as Yankton, Dakota Territory back then. His death May 1980 in Lonepine Montana. Guys father born in Canada, his Mother in Michigan.
I'm still unsure of these dates but I hope I'm on the right track. Feel free to e-mail me if you wish. kat.kerby@gmail.com

Katrina

need parents of Hugh Livingston

Hello. I am at the “brick wall”.I am seeking proof of the parentage of my gg grandfather Hugh Livingston b 1821 in Mercer Co, PA. He married Married Mary Ann Todd in Mercer in 1843. They left via wagon for IA in 1865. They had 8 children.
One was my GG grandfather Clarence Elmer Livingston who was from PA and born 26 MAR 1865. He was only 8 mos old when they left PA. I think Hugh’s parents came from Scotland. I was told by older family that he was a loyalist, a Mennonite & he also was a Mason. He moved his family to IA in the 1860's. There are many many Livingstons in PA, & NY who are dimly related but I haven't been able to sort them out yet.Clarence’s son Guy Melville Livingston who was born 5 APR 1891 in Lewis, IA was my grandfather. He and his wife Goldie Daniels homesteaded in SD in 1910. I have no solid information on Hugh before 1850. I cannot find birth, marriage records or any newspaper stories about the family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you know of a good Mercer Co, PA genealogist let me know!
Sorry to be so long in replying. I thought this was just another alert not a response to my inquiry. I was looking for a J. Livingston who lived in Freedom and also Liberty? (I think it was) Missouri. Originally from Virginia. I believe his Son Louis was my grandfather If I have found the right records in the census. Grandfather lived in Washington State for a great many years. No one in the family seems to know anything more than the family was originally from Virginia.

A quick look at the 1840 census show an older Hugh Livingston (age 60-69) listed in Neshannock, Mercer Co, PA. He has a son (age 15-19) the age to be your Hugh Livingston. This older Livingston is also in Mercer Co in the 1830 census. Have you looked for a will or probate records for this older Hugh Livingston?

Re: what you've heard from relatives, it's unlikely a Livingston from Scotland (or Ireland or England) was a Mennonite, who were typically from Germany or Switzerland. A Quaker perhaps, but probably not a Mennonite. The term "loyalist" generally refers to someone who sided with England during the American Revolution. Your Hugh Livingston wasn't born until 1821, so it seems unlikely he was a loyalist.

For a good genealogist, your can search for one on the websites for the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Board of Certified Genealogists. You may pay a bit more, but you will get more for your money. Your other option is to contact the Mercer Co Archives (or Historical Library or whatever they call it). They should be able to match you up with someone who can meet your needs. You might want to begin by checking out the probate records for the older Hugh Livingston and taking a good look at the Mercer Co church records. Good luck.

I am looking for a Don Livingston who has been in several posts. I am looking for information on my Livingston Family.
My grandmother was Pauline Avery Livingston (1897-1976)
Her father was William John Livingston Jr., (1868-1924) m. Mary Belle Avery
His father was William John Livingston (1824-1911) m. Sara Burress. He came to America in 1848 from N. Ireland and went to the gold field in CA. After finding some gold he went to Windsor, Henry Co., MO where he openned up a dry good store.
He was the son of Rev. Samuel and Eliza (Dalzell) Livingston and is said to have come to America with several brothers. I know his brothers were Samuel, Jonas and William. There was a Robert who died young.
I have make contact with a genealogist in N. Ireland and next year will work to establish the connection between Rev. John Livingston and Janet Fleming. Our family records indicate that Rev. Samuel's father was a John Livingston but I have no further records on my Livingstons other than unproven rumors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don, I am interested in the line of John Livingston b. 1528 of Dunipace married to Margaret Elphinstone. I have only down to John b. 1636 m. to Helen Arnot. If you could provide me the line into the Virginia line, I would be much appreciative. I have nothing of the Virginia line. I am from the New York Livingstons.
Patricia

W. G? Livingston and Maud Jenkins

Hello,

I recently researched some marriage records in Tallahatchie Co., MS. I found the following but cannot account for this person in my trees. Perhaps someone can help me figure out who these individuals were?

The name looks like W. G. Livingston, but the certificate also states W. L. Livingston. Date was Aug 12, 1901.

There was a note w/the license: Aug 10, '901

"Mr. H.B. Flautt? it is all right let Will have his lisens. J M Jenkins"

The License was for W. G/L? Livingston and Miss Maud Jenkins. Based on the way the L in Livingston was written, I do not believe the initial was an L. I really believe it was an initial G.

According to the license, Maud Jenkins was a resident of Tallahatchie County, MS. Per the 1900 census, Tallahatchie Co., MS, I believe Maud Jenkins was b. Aug 1884, MS; father was Monroe Jenkins, b. Jan 1866.

I would like to know who this Will Livingston was.

Thanks.

Pat (Livingston) Dakin
Opelika, AL
patdakin@mindspring.com

Hugh Livingston and Mary Ann Todd 1821 to 1865 in PA

This is all I know about my ggg grandfather Hugh Livingston. PA has no records of their births, or marriage. I seek clues to their parentage and their lives beore they came to IA by covered wagon in 1865:

"In History of Cass County published 1884 p 629
Hugh Livingston deceased) was born in Lawrence co, PA Oct 21 1821. he was reared to the occupation of farming, which he always followed. He was united in marriage, Feb 21 1843 with Mary ann Todd in the town of Mercer, Mercer Co PA. She is a daughter of John and Gettis (Elder) Todd, who settled in Lawrence county, when she was about twelve years of age. They died in that county. Mr and Mrs Livingston resided in PA till the fall of 1865, when they removed to Clinton Co (IA)?. They there engaged in farming, remaining in that county five years. In September, 1870, they became residents of Cass co, locating upon a farm of four hundred and twenty acres. lying in sections 3 and 4 of Cass township, and 33 and 34 of Washington township. They resided till 1882 upon section 3, Cass township then having sold their land in Cass, they moved to section 33 of Washington township, where he died December 1, 1883, much regretted by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Mr and Mrs Livingston have had eight children, six of whom are living - Elizabeth, wife of Richard Swearingen of Pottawattamie county; Hannah, widow of Samuel Hanke, living in Hall county, Nebraska; John C., a resident of Cass township; George in Buffalo county, Nebraska; Sarah M., wife of Charles Rossell of Pottawattamie county, and Clarence E., who resides with his mother at the homestead. Ella Mary died November 15 1883, aged twenty one years; Minerva J, wife of W P Cubage, died in Jackson county April 8 1866, aged twenty two years. Clarence E Livingston was born in Lawrence county, Pennsylvania March 26 1865, and was eight months old when his parents left the State. he now carries on the farm."
Seeking information about C. R. (abt. 1824, N.C. – 1893) and Lavinia Livingston (abt. 1830 N.C. - 1886) of Batesville, Arkansas. This couple is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, as are sons Adolphus (1850 – 1925) and Falconer O. (died 1892). Daughter Alice is believed to have married George O. Magness and moved to Texas. Interested in any possible relationship to the William S. Hopson family. One of Hopson’s orphaned sons, John B. Hopson, was in the Livingston household in the 1880 census for Batesville, Independence County. Thanks in advance for any information.

Donna -

I'm so sorry, I didn't check my e-mail before we left for the 2011 Livingston-Watson Reunion. Just got home today (we live near Milwaukee, WI). Very pleased to hear of your interest!!

Four years ago, the Reunion almost ended. My sister and I could not bear to see that happen. So it continues - during the business meeting yesterday, it was discussed how to bring new family members back. We formed several committees to assist in finding the Livingston-Watsons who have scattered across the country. The newsletter next spring will be back with more information and requesting more information. We are planning more events.

Attendance this year was down (it's been very hot this summer), but we had new attendees from California and Oklahoma. It is good there is still interest in our wonderful and interesting family.

Can you reply with your e-mail to me privately so that I can add you to the mailing list and keep you informed. My e-mail: kanderson@wi.rr.com

Please keep in touch!! ... and nice to meet you!

Hi, My name is Donna Meikle - Moss I am the daughter of Donald Meikle who was the son of William Meikle and Susan Grace Livingston.

I live in Oregon and didn't realize the family reunion still existed, I remember coming to it when I was a child. I was wondering if you did get those papers that person found from Frank Livingston. My youngest daughter is very interested as I am of family history and would love any information I could find. I'm also interested in the reunion for next year. Thanks Donna Moss

Ok, wrong Hubert. I was looking for family members of Hugh E. Livingston who's mother was Sarah "Sallie" Register, and father was Elisha F. Livingston. His brother was William Joseph, his sister was Ella May, I know he died in 1960 and I was trying to find any living decendants to this family. They lived in the same area of Georgia but I believe eventually, Hugh died in Bibb county.
Hubert Livingston died 13 December 1962, Death certificate #35455
Hubert Horrice Livingston, who I am not sure if they're the same person or not, but his draft registration is in Texas, 1918, DOB 18 Dec 1899. If it's the same person, let me know and I'll send you his draft registration card. Your Huberts SSDI states the following:
Name:	Hubert Livingston
SSN:	253-16-0421
Last Residence:	Georgia
Born:	15 Dec 1898
Died:	Jan 1963 (There may be a descrepency because of when it was reported, but it's the same guy)
State (Year) SSN issued:	Georgia (Before 1951)
They do state in the 1900 census his DOB was December 1898 as well, but in subsequent census's it's 1899, 1900 but the Month is correct if he did ever go to Texas. See his 1900-1920 census records.
Maud's parents were divorced and her father had custody. See 1910 census attached. Her stepmother is listed in the 1920 and they have an elderly woman, usually a relative and with her surname I assume a relative of the stepmom.
Maud's mother was Mamie Elizabeth Turner, they married on 13 October 1897 in Telfair County. I'm attatching their 1900 census even though it does not have Maud on it. It does have her older sister. I'm also attatching her fathers ww1 draft registration, William Sanders Livingston, along with his 1880 census so you can get his parents/siblings info
Hope these records help you in your research. Siblings as usual are listed.

Hubert's mother was Emma S Livingston. I don't know what her middle name was. She was married to John Harrison Livingston. They were both from GA. Emma S Livingston (1873-1953) was born and died in Telfair county, GA.Hubert was married to Maude Livingston who was related to George Washington's great grandmother.
