Thank you so much! I will have a look at that.

Please be very careful with the information I have (and that of others) about Peter being Anne's father. Others had a Peter Loch whose birth and death dates would not allow him to be Anne's father, so all I did was to substitute another Peter Loch whose dates and location were the most reasonable. I have no idea whether he's actually her father. So you have anything on him that you didn't get from an online family tree? Thanks again,
Barb

You can check the Fulda Cemetary in Caldwell, Ohio online. That is how I traced this line of my husband's family. It is fairly detailed about the German immigrants that settled here and their family. Can you trace the line past Peter Loch? Would be great to add to his tree.

Anne Marie Loch 1795 father Peter married Johannes Schmittberger

I have an Anne Marie Loch, born 1795? in Germany, who married Johannes Schmittberger (who later came to to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Noble County Ohio along with his children and grandchildren, who spelled it Smithberger.) Anne Marie & Joannes' first child was said to be born when she was only 13. Plus, her father is said to be Peter Loch, but he's listed a dying well before she was born. Her husband was supposedly born in Baumholder, Birkenfeld, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, as was the Peter most folks show as her husband.

Does anyone have anything concrete (documentation) about this family when they were still in Germany? I have nice census records tracking their lives in America. Oh, and it looks like Anne Marie died at age 36, never having left Germany.

Thanks in advance,
Barbara

Hi Jakob, These are my g grandparents on my maternal side. They were catholic and it was said that J. Loch worked on or had something to do with the construction of the Budapest cathedral, he was listed as a bricklayer on the birth cert in america of my grandmother. They came in to the us through St Louis, Missouri in early 1910. I am sure that the spelling on Magdelenas last name is incorrect as I am sure an american worker at the hospital wrote it the way she thought it sounded as they spoke it, as things were done back then to emmigrants. Birth places in Hungary seem to be Uy Bessenyo and Cjavos. I can send you a copy of the only document I have for you to decipher as I have a hard time as I do not understand the language. I am so thankful for your response. This is the first lead I have g=had in 7 years! In 1925 when my grandmother Kathrine re entered the US it seems she came by way of Bucharest Roumania, when she was 15. I would love to send you my documents to see what you can make of them. Thanks so much for your interest and help. Leslie my email is queenleslied@yahoo.com

I am very intereseted in your your familyhistory.
Unfortunately I have no dates about a marriage of LOCH and SCHINAGEL. In the region where my ancestors of the LOCH-family lived, we have families with the name SCHÖNNAGEL (SCHOENNAGEL), but I have no marriage records between both of them. But of course, I do not have all information about our ancestors...
SCHÖNNAGEL and SCHINAGEL sounds similiar.
Do you found any entries in the ellis-island - records ?
Please give me more information about your researches about where you found, that Johann LOCH and Magdalena SCHINAGEL (...?..) came from Hungary. Do you know, if they were catholic, lutheran or reformed persons ?
Thank you.
Jakob Götz

I am interested in your Loch lineage. I read your old queries from 2001 and there might be a connection to my Loch's. The county and surrounding areas are the same. My Loch's are Johann Loch b 1882, who married Magdalena Schinagel (spelling ?) b1884. They had several daughters but came to USA by 01/march 1910 to have daughter Katherine (Katerina) born in USA, St louis, Missouri, then all returned to Hungary right after birth of Katherine. They sent Katherine back to USA when she was 14. As far as I know, she was the only daughter to come to US from this family. She stayed with a "Margaret" of Hungarian descent in the USA, relationship unknown. Any information would be interesting. Please contact me. Thanks

Hello Julia,

thank you for your reply. Maybe we are related. It would be very nice.
Unfortunately I have no informations about my (Loch-)ancestors'
route, when they moved from Germany to Austria-Hungary.
And I do not know how much persons of the Loch-families came to
these places.
This evening I put your informations in a message for Mr. Norbert Metzner.
He is a member in the AKdFF and is also looking for his ancestors
with the names LOCH and STROEBL.
I found LOCH and STROEBL in the book "UIVAR", written and published
1981 by Hans Hoffmann. But these families lived in the 1940th there.
In the books are no further informations for your and my family-
branches.
Yes you are right: Uivar-Uyvar-Uiwar... is in the Torontal County. I found a nice map here:
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910/gonczy/torontal.jpg

Let us now wait for Norbert Metzner's answer.
CUL, - soon again,

Jakob.

We surmise that John and Catherine's two sons were William and David Loch. William is my direct ancestor and I hit a brick wall linking him to John. Perhaps your bible page can shed some light on this. George

I have a family booklet that says that John Loch and Mary Ann Rader(Loch) had six children, all of you have mentioned. Your William was the third child of John and Mary ann Rader Loch and he was married to a Miss Richards.(No first name given) They had nine children, srry my booklet does not list children, but it says most were farmers and resided in Maryland, Iowa. All nine children married and William Loch died serving in the Civil War.
My line is from Williams sister, Mary Ann (Polly) Loch who married William Fitch.
Mary Ann Rader (Loch) died and John married Dicy Murphy Coshocton, OH 1829. Does that sound right?
John Loch served in the Revolutionary War. VA. Muncey Creek, Mount Clinton and Rockingham County are some of the areas I have him listed as living during that time. He is buried in Coshocton, Ohio, died in 1834.
I know no more about William, his son, but have the whole Fitch line.
Thanks for letting me
