I am trying to find information on Margaret and Jane Lockeridge (sometimes spelled Lockridge or Loveridge) who married in Philadelphia in the 18th century. I cannot connect them to any parents or siblings. Margaret (c1740-26 February 1810) married Charles Haynes(?-?) 20 Dec 1760. Jane (c1750-aft.1820) married John Taylor (?-bef.1795)6 May 1773. Any hits or information will be welcome.

One of their eight children, Isaac, moved on to Pettis Co, MO, where he was a large landowner. (my line) Could this woman have been the "Elinor" Lockridge, d/o Robert and Rebecca Gay Lockridge?

Actually, we aren't related to the Lockridge's. My mom told me that my grandmother's middle name was as a result of her dad being friends with someone by the name of Lockridge. I would assume she meant that their last name was Lockridge. My grandmother was born 1893. They lived in Roane Co, WV growing up, so my guess is that the friend might have lived there. Her father was Lemuel McCoy and he lived there all his life and died in 1919. He married 1st a Kelley and 2nd a Haynes. Lemuel was a farmer and bootmaker, so I would imagine that whoever he named her after must have lived in that area. Was just curious.

I'm sorry...don't have any names in my database with this first name...My Lockridge line is thru my great grandmother. Her name was Eliza Katherine Lockridge; she married Isaac Newton Campbell. Eliza was b. 26 Dec 1849 in Pocohantas Co., West Virginia. She died 21 Feb 1928 and is buried in the Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, Augusta Co., VA. Her father was Elisha Francis Lockridge and mother was Sarah Margaret Strickland. She has siblings, Lancelot C, went by "L C" Lockridge; Charles E, and Elizabeth B Lockridge. Elisha's parents were John Lockridge and Ann Elizabeth Erwin....Elisha had a sibling, John Ewing Lockridge, who was a MD...John's father was John, Sr and mother was Anna M Rhea. 7 children in this family...John Sr's father was Major Andrew Lockridge and mother was Jean/Jane Graham...11 children in this family...

I have been researching the McCoy line of Va Wv, mainly, Monroe, Barbour, Lewis, Roane and Jackson Co.'s. I don't know anything about the Campbells but I do know that a relative, Mary V. McCoy b 1849 of prob. Pendleton Co. married a William Campbell. I don't have any other info on the Campbells other than this. I also have a Martha Campbell who married b 1829 of Fayette Co. married a Andrew Jackson Haynes, also members of our line. I am just trying to tie in a Lockridge to our family, whether friend or family, in an attempt to find out who my grandmother might have been named after. Thanks, Karen

My grandmother was from WV (Roane Co. to be exact). She was born in 1893 and was named Orla Lockridge McCoy. We were told she was named after someone, but my mother (her daughter) doesn't know who. I'm not a 100% on this, but I'm told her parents were Charlie Lockridge and Mary Sheppard. their children were Bill, Frances, Mamie,Edna my ggrdmthr, Roy, and John. Charlie's 2nd wife was Adda Anderson and they had Raymond, James, and Paul. Freeman aka Fermon Lockridge

Freeman(aka Fermon) Lockridge b.January 8, 1907 in Arkansas, d.November 1986 in Pulaski Co., Ar(Williams), m. Daisy(whose either married name or last name at death-was Blankley). They both resided in Flint, Michigan for a while. Freeman(Fermon)went on to marry again a lady by the name of Nazaree. Daisy and Fermon(Freeman)had two children: Riley Lockridge, Sr. b. 1930, Arkansas, d. 1967 in Flint, Michigan Freeman(Fermon) Lockridge Jr.b., Arkansas.Riley's obituary states that they were both residing in Michigan at the time of his death. I guess they may have moved back to Arkansas before they died?

Riley Sr. Lockridge, Sr. married Katy Johnson and had Riley Lockridge II b. 1952 and Daisy Mae Lockridge, 1951, both stayed behind in Arkansas when he moved to Flint. Riley Lockridge Sr. died in Flint, Michigan at the agoe of 37. Katy never married again although she did have six more children with 3 different men.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlene Turner; son, Robert Page; stepdaughter, Donna Lockridge; stepson, Jack Lockridge; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services: none announced.

Inurnment: 10 a.m. tomorrow, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma.

I wish I could help you but I don't have any information that I can PROVE beyond my great-grandfather Levi, age 21 years, in the 1850 census in Grant County, Indiana with a man, Isaac LAURIDGE, who MIGHT be his father/grandfather. The census says that Isaac was born in NC. Maybe we are related but I can't prove it. Do you have other family names, dates, and places that I could look for? I might have something but I dont recognize your father's name in my files. OK?

I hope this gets to you- I see you posted ed 1999. My ggparents were Samuel Meek Lockridge(b. abt 1889) and Bertie Lee McMurry (b. 1900). They were both born in SC. They lived in Bullocks Creek in York County, SC and they lived in Kings Mountain, NC when they died. I don't remember Sam but I do Bertie. She was in her 80's when she died but I am just starting my search on this part of the family so I don't have exact dates yet. I don't know their parents and that is the part I am most interested in. No first names on the census and just initials except for son Robert Lockridge born about 1851. No information after 1860.

My earliest known Lockridge ancester is James Wilson Lockridge b. 1820 ,married Emeline Brumbarger {hankins}
Her parents were Mary and Jacob Brumbarger from Ky. They
had Elijah Henry, Rebecca, Susan, and Samuel. Emeline was
married before to Elijah Hankins who died in the Civil War.
Elijah Hankins and Emeline had Nancy C., Joseph, Dave, and

Lockridge from Sangamon County, Illinois

I have copy of 1870 Census for Sangamon County, Illinois. Dwelling 148 has a family Alonza Gray age51; Elzira Gray; age 28; Hattie Gray age 5; and James Lockridge age 24. I am sure that Elzira was Lockridge, but trying to make connection to this family. The census looks like Lockridge, but several are trying to say it Lochridge. Can anyone help me with this family.

You may already have this info, I just started research on thisfamily. In the 1930 census Bertie Lee Lockridge wife of
Samuel Lockridge living in Bullocks Creek, York County, South Carolina, Bertie's born 1900, Samuel born 1888.
Children: James born 1916,Meek born 1920,Campbell born 1923, Calvin born 1924, Oleen born 1927. Note there is a
Kings Mountain in York County South Carolina which is
very close to Bullocks Creek. Could this be your family?
I hope this will help you. I am trying to find a Hugh Laughridge
(Lockridge) married to Martha Winkler, Hugh born abt 1899
had 2 children, H.S. (Buddy) Lockridge, and Garner Lockridge

My Great Grand Father is Issac W(ashington?) Lotridge born circa 1853 ( but no proof). He died in Arkansas in 1927. His son, my grandfather, Issac Lester Lotridge born 06-06-1894 in LaFayette, Indiana. His mother is Flossie Fansler born cira 1847 died in Ark 1926. I am trying to connect Issac Washington to someone so I can go back further. It is possible he had another wife in Indiana or Iowa and left there to go to Arkansas.

the following is small list of lockridge relatives living in Kings Mountain, Bessemer City, Shelby and Lincolnton North Carolina:

Bertie Leigh Lockridge - greatgrandmother
Born:1900 and died in the 1980's in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
her children - Campbell, Sam, Jean, Olean,Mary Francis(deceased),Dave, James(deaceased), and Marshall.
(I believe this is all, there may be one or two more.)

My Greatgrandfather, Berties husband, changed the spelling of our name to Lockridge from Laughridge because people could not spell it or pronounce it correctly.

If anyone has any connections or information please respond. I hope to have much more information soon upon speaking with my father.
