Logan baby 1926 New York given away -Family Mystery-

Looking for a LOGAN that gave away a baby in Jan-Feb 1926 New York. Got a close DNA match to a LOGAN, so I'm guessing that he would be a LOGAN.
Baby was about 2 weeks old when he was handed over at the Hornell train station.
Re: African American Logan Family

They may very well be related to my family. My grandmother on my father's side, Mary Ragin married William McKinnley Logan in the early 30's. McKinnley as she called him was from either Sumpter or Summerton in Claredon County, South Carolina. He was of African and Native American mix as all the Logan's were according to my Aunt who met them years ago in the 1960's. I do remember seeing a picture of a Native American very old relative as a child while looking through my grandmother's photo album. She said she was a Logan. William Logan had 7 siblings and we have a pretty extensive family tree here so you can search it to see if we are linked. Search under (Logan's and Ragins).

Good luck and keep me posted!

Elizabeth Logan

I am looking for a William Logan who lived in Belfast on Alexandra Ave in 1918 and later on Parkside Gardens, which is just around the corner from his previous home. He was a builder and contractor. I know he was still on Parkside as late as 1933. My grandmother was named Mary Campbell Lyttle, she left her estate to this man and I do not know who he is.
Still looking for Kathryn Mae Logan Broadhurst. I have more info. She was born 1921 Independence, Missour, married Benjamin G. Broadhurst 1938 and passed away probably September - October 1939 from a fall. She was pregnant and lost the baby as well. Father was William E. Logan, Sr. and biological mother was Connie Workman, although 1930 census states Bertha. By that time Connie Workman had passed as well. If anyone has any info, please let me know. It seems at her death, she fell off the face of the earth. I can't find a thing.

Re: Mahala "Jane" Logan 1855-1920, New Brunswick, Canada

Mahala appears to have been 'Mahalie June Moore' for whom a death certifcate gives a birth-date of ca. 1855. She died in Penniac, St. Mary's Parish, York Co., NB 20OCT1920 age 65 years, and was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Brannen?) Logan. (The writing is difficult to read.) She apparently was b. in Penniac. The information was given by her nephew, Guy Moore, so the reliability is not great.

There were Logan's in St. Mary's Parish in 1851 in two, but likely related, households, near each other:

Logan James E.	M	Head	30 Native	Lumberer
Logan Margaret	F	Wife 24 Native
Logan George A.	M	Son Infant	Native

Logan James M	Head	55 Native	Shoemaker
Logan Hannah F	Wife 54 Native
Logan David M	Son 19 Native
Logan Alexander	M	Son 14 Native
Logan Margaret	F	Daughter	21 Native
Logan Jane F	Daughter	17 Native

Apparently these were not Mahala's family. I also do not find Mahala in, for example, the 1871 census of York Co.

Also buried in the Penniac Cemetery is Annie (Logan) Hamilton. Her death certificate states that she was the daughter of James and Margaret (Brown) Logan; the first couple in the 1851 census. Possibly Guy Moore got the names wrong. Annie was born in Devon which is in St. Mary's Parish if somewhat south of Penniac. James E. (50) and Margaret (45) are in St. Mary's Parish in 1871, with children: George (20), Grace (18), Jane (16), Moses (13) and Anna (10.) The presence of the Gilmore's, Dennison's, etc. suggests Penniac as well as where one would find the Brown family. Also, next door, lived Henry Moore (28), s/o William and Margaret Moore. I believe that 'Mahalie June' should be Mahala Jane, and that she was Jane in 1871. That she is Mahala Jane on her headstone tends to support this.

Henry's information is a bit strange. His death certificate (d. Penniac 1MAR1930) has him b. Maugerville, Sunbury Co., NB 24DEC1838 the s/o William and Katherine (Bell) Moore. His birth record has him b. St, Mary's Parish 12DEC1838 the s/o William and Annie (Hamilton) Moore. His headstone confirms the 12DEC1838 birth-date and the death-date (1MAR1930) indicating that all three Henry's (birth record, death certificate and headstone) are the same person. I would suspect that Henry's father was married several times. In 1851, as in 1871, William's wife is Margaret (b. ca. 1797.) She and William were from Ireland, he arrived in 1831 and she in 1832 (so they likely married in NB.)

At:
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NewBrunswick/2...
Margaret Brown (22MAY1826-1912) is given as a d/o Alexander and Grace (Gilmore) Brown and that she m. 5JUL1849 James Logan (b. ca. 1821.)

According to:
http://www.nbgs.ca/firstfamilies/FAMILY-L-2006.pdf

LOGAN: John Logan: came to NB in 1783 as a Loyalist and settled in York County: married and had issue: only child mentioned was son, James Logan born 1796, married Hannah Griffin born c1797 of Dutch descent: settled at Penniac in Saint Marys Parish, York County and had ten children.
Sources: MC80/1214 Ina MacLaggan et. al. Nashwaak families 1785-1885, page 60.

Thomas

PS. If you live in Penniac, "Nashwaak Families: 1785-1885", should be in the library and/or archives and may even still be for sale. I would recommend getting a copy. It is slightly out of date and there is more information available than when it was compiled, but it will save a lot of time in dealing with Penniac families.

Thomas
Your father and I wrote back and forth for a while a few years ago when I was actively working on the tree (He and my mother were cousins). We were both kind of stuck on going back any further than Charles and Mary's father. Really not even sure if the death information on their father is correct. As far as Daniel Logan and Currier and Ives goes I just haven't been able to make the connection yet. Both your father and my mother talked about someone in the family working for C&I but proving it has been hard. Daniel may have been an Uncle or something.

It might be Daniel W. Logan who worked for Currier and Ives, as this is the only Daniel Logan in my inherited genealogy thus far. I remember my father talking about a relative who worked for C&I and if it's this Daniel, then he is the father of Charles Milton Logan, who was born 8 March 1870 in NY.
My grandmother is Mary Wilhemina Haldy (Logan) Sachs, and is the sister of your grandfather.
I do not have much on Daniel W. Logan at this point. I will see if I can find anything more on this subject in the files I inherited from my dad.

James Logan born 1767 York PA died KY

Looking for other's opinion.. Some have this person as the son of James Logan and Hannah Crocket Erwin. What I have seen show James/Hannah were married Rockbridge Va and had other children born 1766 in VA and John Logan born Dec 1767 in VA. How was 1767 James Logan born in PA?? When applying for pension in 1800's this James Logan stated proof of birth was at his mother's house in Hanover
PA??? Some trees list this James born in Hanover, Beaver Co PA, other records say York Co PA where the actual town of Hanover is located.. Anyone with thoughts on all of this??

hello. I have received some family information of the Logans of Scotland. On a flow chart it list Alexander Logan the 7th Baron of Restalig. Is this your Alexander?
Also on the flow chart it shows that he 3 sons, William, James and Patrick. My flow chart also shows siblings, etc. I am trying to piece together with my ancestry of an Iver Logan whose father was Alexander Logan. Maybe your information can help me find info about my family. Regards, Eileen Lower....BELOWER@AOL.COM

I have three original carte de visite photographs relating to the family of Harmon W. Tanner. One is of his son, “George Leroy Tanner, born September 1876, died 1881”. One is “Nieces of H. W. Tanner – all about 18 years” and the last is “Nettie Tanner and Adell Logan”. The ones of Nettie and Adell, and of George L. Tanner were taken in Wilmington (Will Co.) IL. The one of the five nieces of H. W. Tanner was taken in Wooster (Wayne Co.) OH. I’d like to get these photos back to family who will treasure them.

I found Adell Logan in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses for Frankfort (Will Co.) IL, showing her birthdate as May 1851, and that she was wife of William H. Logan.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Adell Logan.

Hello,

Can anyone with more experience than me please point me in the right direction.

I am trying to find Mary Logan on the 1911 census.

Mary was born in 1870 with the maiden name of Munro.

She married James Logan in 1892

Mary’s husband James died in 1896 – They had a son also James born in 1892.

The family home where Mary and her son James lived (with her Logan in-laws) was at 38 Union Avenue in Ayr.

The 1901 census has Mary and her son visiting friends in
Cardiff – I struggled to find this also until someone pointed out they were transcribed as Sagar instead of Logan.

The 1911 census sees James junior living with his widowed granny Elizabeth Logan at 38 Union Avenue, Ayr – but no sign of his mother Mary Logan.

So between 1901 and 1911 Mary has completely disappeared.

Has she died? – I can find no record.

Has she remarried? – I can find no record

Can anyone please provide any clues as to Mary’s whereabouts

Thanks

Dave
(david@bencaunt.freeserve.co.uk)
Annie Harrison Logan, North East, Maryland Photos

I purchased these photos and I'm not related but would like to share the images so maybe someone may find their ancestor's picture. I hope someone is able to connect with this lovely woman.

One image is written "Annie Harrison Logan" on the front. The other has the words "Mrs. Annie Logan, North East, MD, our mother taken October 24, 1895."

The findagrave site has her buried in North East United Methodist Cemetery in North East, Plot 4-9, Cecil County, Maryland. She lived from 1870-1942. She was married to Harrington "Harry" Logan.

I'm wondering if your Margaret Logan might be the former Margaret E. Derrickson who married Frances Lloyd Logan on 31 Feb 1942. This Frances and Margaret Logan lived a number of years in Big Horn, WY and they had two sons named Tom and Ted who are my cousins. This Margaret passed away on 16 Apr 2003 in Cheyenne, WY. I don't see a Mary in this tree limb, but then I don't have any info on the Derrickson linage.
