Dear Bernie,

My partner is also a descendant of the Loosemores of devon, is your information form the site called "Loosemores of devon"? I am trying to find some more in depth information about Edward Loosemore and his 3 wives, Elizabeth Bridgeman, Annie Jones, and Lillian Dale. Annie Jones is my partners grandmother. trying to find out amy information about these families and their lives. I know that eileen, the only child of Edward and Annie spent many of her early years in an "orphanage" but we are wondering if in fact they were in the work house. Any infomation would be appreciated.
Regards June

Wow a connection. Anyway, of the children of Henry and Elizabeth, I don't have a George listed. Was he born after 1897? That would make him #10. I have the last child born in Wales as 1883 (Margaret Loosemore)and the next child born in VA as 1896 (Edward Edwin Loosemore).I also found today the SS Death index of David for Pulaski, PA in 1966. I have him married to two women: Ivy Sody and Lulu Gerrita of Pa. I have not found a ships record of them yet, so you have more than I do. I have dates for some of the family. If you would like to contact me by e-mail, it's deannamedlin@yahoo.com. That way we can share more info and pictures.

I was glad to hear from you! Henry and Elizabeth were my paternal Great-Grandparents. There son George Richard Loosemore married Sue Long from Pa. and had a son named Earl David Loosemore who was my father. My name is Nancy Lee (Loosemore) Smith. I have two of Henry's children born in Plaska (or Pulaska) Va. not Pa. It's confusing because there is a Pulaska, Va. But I found information where Henry and Elizabeth's son David lived in Pulaski,(Lawrence Co.) Pa. until his death in 1966. Also I have 10 children listed. I found a ships record showing they arrived 29 Jun 1887 in New York from Liverpool, England. The ships name was Wisconsin. I haven't done a lot on the family tree lately but I may have some other information you don't have. If you have any other questions I will look to see if I have the information. Maybe we can share and get a more complete tree. I haven't been able to find anything on Elizabeth except that she was born about 1854 or 1855.

Hi Julie,

According to the Loosemore Family Tree compiled by Ronald Loosemore & Victor Loosemore, the man who married Ann Gould (born 1843) was William Loosmore, son of Henry Loosmore (1808-1858) and Sarah Loosmore née Carnell (ca. 1808-1863). This William was born at Honiton RegDist (Northeast Devon) in 1842, baptised at Payhembury (Devon) on 13 March 1842, died at Long Ashton (Bristol) in 1925. His wife - Ann née Gould - died at Long Ashton in 1918. They had five children: Mary Jane Loosmore, William John Loosmore, Annie Sarah Loosmore, Harry Richard Loosmore, Gertie Alice Loosmore.

Ronald and Victor have published very comprehensive and detailed histories of many different branches of the Loosemore/Loosmore family tree at:
http://www.dvsonline.co.uk/loosemore/homepage.htm
http://www.loosemore.co.uk/tree

Though I suppose inevitably there are a few glitches, one of which revolves around the parentage and marital status of Mary Adams - who lived with William Loosemore, born 1757, at NorthDown Farm (Meshaw) during the 1930s and early 1940s until his death in 1843.

Hope this helps. Good luck in all your researches. REG

Hi Terry,

You mentioned Thomas Loosemore (born Devon, England) of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

There is a very extensive Loosemore Family History by a Mr W. Ronald Loosemore, viewable at this URL:
http://www.loosemore.co.uk/Chapter8/CHAPTER8text.htm

This source (Chapter 8) mentions Thomas (born 1842, died at Hamilton 1933) plus lots of other Ontario relatives.

Please forgive if you knew this already. Otherwise, hope this helps. Regards

REG

PS: I first looked at this site in connection with a Mary Adams (born Feb 1806), who was housekeeper/partner of William Loosemore (born 1757).

Sarah Horrell Loosemore was my great grandmother, born in Broad Clyst, England. She married Richard Moore Blackmore and they disappeared from Collumption area. When I started my research I found lots of Blackmore info that began before they "disappeared" They actually moved to the USA (Toledo, Ohio) in 1871. Does this fit in with anyone's family. I have been in contact with Victor and have info on her family. Looking for perhaps any brothers or sisters of hers to add to family tree.

My familiy started in the US when John William Loosemore came from Hamilton, Ont., he married Mildred Murphy from Smith
Falls, Ont., they had three sons Joseph Thomas; John Vincent; John William, Jr.

The parents of John William Loosemore, Sr.'s parents were Thomas Loosemore and Margaret Pear. I believe that the father of Thomas was also a John.

I am trying to develop the family tree from Thomas backwards with little luck. My understanding is that Vic may hold the answer to some of my questions.
