Dear Craig,
I am having difficulty getting to you so hope this works. I am actually responding to your information about my 3rd great grandmother, Abigail Ann Card Burgess. As you probably know, the Mosher's, Card's, and Burgess's have been intermarrying for decades and I have lots of that information. I noticed you have Abigail as dying in CT, where I was born and raised, so was she returned to NS for burial? I have her being buried at Riverside Cemetery where her husband, Richard William Burgess, is also buried. He is listed as the oldest person buried at Riverside - 1879. Would you please contact me to see if we have any other info to share? I made a trip in '07 to NS, specifically to Summerville, and the Burlington area, and found headstones of many of the "ghosts" I have been reearching since 2001. Barbara Gosse, formerly of CT

Loret (France)

I know most of the posts in this section seem to be earlier timewise, but I need help with a family line that goes way back.

I am looking for information on Marin Loret who married Jeanne Chasteau, they are the parents of Jeanne Loret who married Pierre Marie. The timeline for this famioly is around 1500 - 1700's in France.

If anyone has worked that far back I would love the help. I am trying to go as far back as I can with my maternal lineage.

Oh, before I forget to mention this, I have come across many variations of this surname: Loret, Lourett, Louret, Lorette, Lorett, and Lord.

Thanks!

Actually I am from Massachusetts with a strong Maine and Canadian connection. Medora A. Dellow married James H. Elorett 5 Oct 1875 in New Hampshire. Their daughters name was Louise J. THe info you have on Frank E. Elorett is correct. He married Flora Inez Dyer (Jul 1866 - 7 Aug 1915, the daughter of Asaph E. and Mary E. Bradbury in Portland, Maine 29 Nov 1882 by Rev. B. F. Pritchard (Clergyman). Is your connect thru the Verge's?

My gg grandmother was Mary Lorette Randeau. She was married to Felix Randeau. They had a daughter (don't know if there were any other siblings or not) named Celina Randeau who married my g grandfather Joseph Bulley from Mt. Holly (Wallingford) VT. Joseph and Celina Randeau Bulley had 10 together. Celina died while giving birth to her 10 child. Her cousin, Celina Dubeau (daughter of Charles Dubeau and Melina Lorette Dubeau)was sent to help Joseph with his 10 children. They later married and had 6 more children.

Hello,

I am not sure of anything any longer. I am getting quite confused.

I think my ancestry goes as follows:

my grandparents are Paul Emile Gagnon (Died 24 September 1963) who married
my Grandmother Marguerite Watts. He left the family 8 years after my father
was born in 1927. I think he re-married Nicole Lorette around 1934. I
received information that they were married on 29 Sept 1927 but this seems
impossible since my Father's sister was two years older and was born around
1925.

my ggrandparents were Louis Gagnon and Delia Boivin.
my gggrandparents were Zepherin (Seph) Gagnon and Delima Simard
my ggggrandparents were Zepherin (J) Gagnon and Emelie Marquis

This is information I received through my requests so far but things seem to
have become confused when I try to confirm this pedigree.

Any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
Robert
robert.gagnon@rogers.com
Marie J. LORETTE (LORETTER) of 51 Coveti Str. near Regal (or Royal), New Orleans, (ORLEANS PARRISH) LA wrote a letter dated March 28, 1877 to P. J. Roubal in Cat Spring, TX. The letter is written in the Czech language, and has been translated. I have several translated letters from Joe LORETTE of New Orleans, LA to P. J. (Paul John or Johan) ROUBAL in Cat Spring, TX written in the late 1860's and 1870's. These two men were friends and were both from Czechoslovakia.Would like to correspond with anyone who might be connected to Marie J. LORETTE (LORETTER) or her father Joe LORETTE (LORETTER).
I have a Prosper Laurette(Lorette,Lerette) in my Courchesne tree. Prosper Laurette married Adelaide Courchesne. There known children were Prosper, Peter, Joseph, Emanuel and Felix. Am wondering if the son of Prosper and Adelaide was the Prosper you are talking about. Prosper and Adelaide were married on 1Oct1839 in Saint-Pierre-De-Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec. From the information I am finding on the children, they must have emigrated at some point to Rutland, Vermont. Any information on this couple or their descendents would greatly be appreciated.

Hope with a name like "Mosher" you are a "Mainer", too! I was reserching the Verge family from windham and found that the mother of the many daughters was named Medora A. Verge and she was married to James H. Elorette, b. about 1854, died before 1880. they had a daughter named Lou or Lulie (possibly named after james' father, Louis, as you have him). There was also a Frank R. Elorette, born about 1857, died 1891, married 29 Nov 1882 Flora Inez Dyer (1866 to ?), dau. of Asaph Dyer, Long Island (Maine). The Dyer family were shipbuilders for generations. Frank was Capt. of the schooner, City Point (or Portland) which sank on 7 Sept 1891 in the Grand Banks. This isn't muchhelp, but that's all I have found to date.
kay Soldier - Windham, Maine

I have some interseting and maybe connecting information for you. My great Grandmother was Jane Thompson who was a widdow and had two children Esther Loiuse and George. She married again to John Bond. My Grandmother Esther, married James Edward Lorette who later changed the spelling when he came to the states to Lerett. I've been told there is a connection in Sackville NB and the family cemetary is around 9 mile river Beaver Banke. My grandfather James had 4 siblings, William a farmer, Dimic a farmer with two daughters, Al who was an actor in Vaudville with 5 or 6 children and one other I don't know. My grandfather came to Arlington Massachusettes, and had 4 children and he died at the start of WW2. My Grandmother Esther Thompson was a cook in a limber jack camp in Canada. Let me know if this helps

Hi David, I was wondering if you had come up with anything on the Lirette family related to the Gagne's. You said that your mother had Gagne's on her side, but I've noticed that a lot of Fr. Canadians intermarried more than once. What area of Quebec are your Lorette family from? It might give me a starting point to search for Cecilia. Also, if your mother has Gagne's on her side, could you tell me who they are? A lot of my Gagne relatives lived in the MA and NY area.

Lorette ancestors in New England Canada

I am trying to find out information on ancestors of New England from Canada/France. I know that they came from the Quebec region and moved south to the states. Into Vermont first in the Rutland area then to the Bennington area. From there they split to go to NH, MA, CT, and NY. My great-grandmother, Josephine Maillard (records say Myers but older NY records (Amenia) show the family name as Maillard. Her mother was Genevieve Pope from Brooklyn/France. I would welcome any information on Lorette, Lirett, Hilerest.

If you could e-mail me more about your ancestry background I will try to make a connection. Does your pedigree trace from the Quebec area of Canada or eastern Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick etc. If possible a great, great great grandfather to match up to my files. Happy to be working with you. Dave

I have been trying to connect the Lirette/Lorette family to the Gagne. I have come close but have not been able to connect yet. My ancestors come from New Brunswick and Quebec aresa of Canada. As far as retracing from my mothers side it would go as follows: my mothers 1C1 was Elvira Jolley who married Joseph A. Gagne the son of Louis J. Gagne and Mary A. Hebert. Joseph was born Dec. 7, 1888 in East Brogan PQ Canada. I do not have more info on Louis and Mary but I am still looking. Good Luck

Dear Mary, Got your message and it is a curious thing, the maybe connections. I have family connections to Gagne on both paternal and maternal lines. Not sure how strong the connections through the Lirette, I just know that within my history notes the two surnames cross paths at least a couple of times. The Gagne family locally is closer, through my moms family. This being in Keene NH area. I still poke around looking for connections. If I come up with something I will let you know.
It appears to me that you have access to the social security death index. Is that correct?
I do as well. I found no more information about your grandfather but for you grandmother if you dont have it already, her birthdate was Sept 24, 1918 and she died in Florida Dec 1983. Perhaps in Englewood FL, not sure about this location. Her SS# was 034-05-4566.
According to the list there were several Lorettes born in MA that may have a connection but I cant link them yet. In my family tree there was a Russell Lorette that lived in Holyoke MA born in 1901. An outside shot at being a relative to you as well. I will keep picking at this until I make some progress and get back to you. Enjoy the holidays. Dave

Hi David,

My grandfather Wilfred Gonyea/Gagnier/Gagne
sister Matilde was married to a Jolley who
settled in Mt. Holly, Vermont and his father
was Joseph Adelbert Gagnier/Gonyea - and
I somehow connect to Cecile Lirette too!
Its a long shot, but I do recognize and
heard my grandparents often speak of the
Jolleys. My grandmother was Olive Nellie
Noreau(lt). Her father was Joseph Noreau/
also Nadreau, Nault. I suggest also looking
on genforum.com as I have found a lot of
information there.

Please email me at tewarson@together.net
I am presently stuck too - my grandfather
had brothers Harry who went to Calif,
Ernest, Nelson, Joseph, sisters Anna and
Matilde, Jospehine, and there are many more
and came from a very large family who seems
to have immigrated to Malone, N.Y. and there
to Vermont, though they seemed very nomadic.
If any of this fits with your family, please
email me.

Mary Gonyea Tewarson
