Parents of Johann Gottlieb Lorf were:
Johann Christoph Lorf born in Serno, by Coswig-Anhalt, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany and his wife Wilhelmine Sophie Christineck Lorf. Wilhelmine was born in Dahnsdorf, Brandenburg, Germany in 1767. They lived in Serno, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. Her father was Johann Bernhard Joachim Christian Christineck. He was born in Haseloff, Brandenburg, Germany in 1736. His mother was Christiane Elisabeth Michaelis Christineck.

Johann Gottlieb Lorf and his wife Johanne Fredricke Neidigk Lorf lived in Buko, by Coswig-Anhalt, Germany until 1868 when they immigrated to Detroit, Michigan with their 5 sons of which their son #4 was Johann Gottlieb Christian Lorf, Jr. who was my grandfather and was born in 1854.

I have now traced my Lorf ancestors back to Thomas Lorff in 1650 and Christian Lorff in 1690 in Buro/Buroer Wuerdeer on the Elbe River next to Coswig-Anhalt, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. Then the family lived in the nearby towns of: Klieken, Serno and then Buko. Hans Caspar Lorff married Catarina von Zerbst in Klieken in 1720 and they had 3 sons: Johann Gottlieb Lorf, 1722, Johann Andreas Lorf,1729, Johann Christoph Lorf. 1724 all born in Klieken. Johann Christoph Lorf then moved to Serno which is about 15 km from Klieken which is along the Elbe River just outside of Coswig-Anhalt, in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.

My grandfather Christian Gottlieb Lorf, Jr. immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1868. He was a Tailor, owned Lorf Brothers Cigar Company, mfg. and had Lorf Coal Yard until about 1920 in Detroit. .

My Great Grandfather Johann Gottlieb Lorf born 1817 near Buko, Anhalt-Zerbst, Sachsen Anhalt, Germany.('I think' town of Serno). He immigrated to Detroit, Michigan USA 1868. He had 2 brothers who I think stayed in Germany: Christoph Lorf, Jr. and Andreas Lorf and a sister (name could be Wilhelmine Lorf)I am searching for their decendants. Their parents were Christoph Lorf, Jr. and Christina Lorf.I am searching for their birth/marriage/death records.

This is an update to my Lorf ancestors. My Great Great Grandparents are Christina Wilhelmine Christineck Lorf born 1787 in Dahnsdorf, Brandenburg, Germany and Johann Christoph Lorf born 1786 in Serno, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. Their children born also in Serno, Germany are: Johann Gottlieb Lorf born 1817, Johann Christoph Lorf born 1816 and Johann Andreas Lorf born 1821. There was also a daughter (possibly named Christina Wilhelmine Lorf). Johann Gottlieb Lorf was my Great Grandfather. He married Friedrika Neidigk and they had 5 sons in Buko, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany: Carl or Charles born 1847, Otto Simon b. 1849, Frank b. 1852, Christian Gottlieb b. 1854 and Frederick Lorf b. 1856.
