My search is for my great grandmother Nellie Davis whose maiden name probably was Lorillard. She lived in Queens NY when she died. She had two sons, Harry and Albert. She had told me she was a Lorillard when I was young. She sang in Vaudeville. I have been told she was born in NY. I don't know if this is the same person. Do you have any other family names?

You are welcome. I hope you purchased the hard bound version. I know I have used the book a lot. I know that Chancellor Kent is connected to the Bailey line. There is a book about our first banker here in Ohio, John James. John married a Bailey. It has the Bailey family line listed in it. This Bailey family were the next door neighbors of Benjamin Franklin in Penn. That Bailey family were descendant of French Hugonots. I don't know if the two connect yet. I do know that Benjamin Franklin had a very close friend Benjamin Kent , which is included in the Kent books by Briggs that you are looking into purchasing. You might also be able to buy the Buckeye Titan in Higginsons Book Co. The Bailey family from the Buckeye Titan lived in Madison Co. Ohio , where our Kents settled in 1807. Some of the Kents settled there earlier. Good luck and happy reading. Belinda Kent

My husband, Kent's grandfather was William Kent b. April 14, 1882. We moved to Suffield, Conn. and saw that the Kent name was everywhere...Kent Memorial Library, Kent Avenue and the largest home was Kent Place. Then we found out that my husband's ggggggrandfather was John Kent, son of Samuel, who settled in Suffield in 1680. Thank you for the information on how to order the book from the Higginson Book Co.

Lorillard family's Native American ancestor

My father, whose grandmother was Mary Lorillard Barbey, told me that we had Native American blood through the Lorillard line. These are the same Lorillards that founded Tuxedo Park. My understanding was that the tribe came from the Pennsylvania or New York areas. This may not be correct. In any case, I would be delighted to learn more! Thanks!

Emily Lorillard of NY married William Kent on March April 30, 1881. Emily was the daughter of Peter and Emily Taylor. They had children:
William b. April 14, 1882
Emily Lorillard b. Oct. 23, 1883
Peter Lorillard b. March 3, 1887
Richard b. Feb. 5, 1894
William was the son of James Kent, William Kent, James the Chancellor. It has more listed in the book. This information fell on page 228.
The book can still be purchased by going to Google.com and typing in Higginson Book Co. I bought a copy to research our Kent line. They sell it in hard and soft bound. Belinda
