Re: LOTT FAMILY REUNION IN SOUTHEAST GEORGIA

Ben, I so wish I could go to the reunion but due to health issues from diabetes I can't make the trip. I have a brother in Florida who might be interested in going, I will let him know. We descend from Joel and Beady's son Arthur Lott who married Mary Harper. Arthur and Mary's daughter Lucinda (Lucindy) Lott married Hiram Smith Sr. Hiram and Lucinda was our grandparents. Their son Hiram Smith Jr was our father. Lucinda's brother Elam Lott married Mary Smith, the sister of Hiram Smith Sr. Brother/sister married brother/sister, their children were double-first cousins, the story of the union of the Lott and Smith families and the double-first cousins was a frequent subject my father spoke of often. If he were alive he'd be there, sadly he passed away 1977 at 72. I have photos of Lucinda and Hiram Smith and Elam Lott and Mary Smith if anyone wants copy have them post a request. Thanks for letting me know about the reunion. Hopefully one day I can go if it continues. Blessings, Chris in Ohio (Christine Smith Lewis)

Hi, Could your family of Lotts who relocated to Gadsden County, Florida, possibly be the children of Leonidas Lott born circa 1782 in Mississipi and Nancy Fletcher born circa 1786 in Georgia. Nancy Fletcher Lott is thought to have died circa 1840 in Gadsden County. Is you Dr. Leonidas Lott, the same Leonidas Lott found on the 1850 census in Gadsden County, born circa 1828.
I have been doing research on the Henry Lott family for the past 26 years and this is the first I have heard that Henry Lott may have changed his name to Lott Huntington. Any more information on this would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the connection with William Hickman. My research also came across a reference that Henry Lott was in Oregan at some point in his life. I have found little information on his son Alfred who was age 11 in the 1850 Iowa census. Thanks for any info anyone may have to help me solve this "mystery".

Hi Sharon, hope you are still coming back to Ancestry in search of the Lott family. They are related to me through my ggrandmother Elizabeth Lott. She is the daughter of Simon Lott and Caroline Lee/Ley... The majority of this line came through Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and parts ended up in the Thorold, Ontario area, near Niagara Falls. Their Thomas Lott(1889-1960) was son of Simon C. Lott jr. He aventually made is way to Texas in the USA, one of the only brothers to end up there. How do you know about them? Let me know if this helps. Happy New Year,
Paula

I just completed a paper documenting all that I've been able to find regarding Henry Lott. I'm chasing a recently discovered lead that Henry Lott may have assumed a new name after fleeing Iowa, and ended up in Salt Lake City. A man named Lott Huntington (Henry Lott's last and the last name of his first wife) was mixed up with self-appointed lawman William Hickman. The account of Lott Huntington's activities and death are remarkably similar to accounts relating to Henry Lott's fate. Are they one in the same? Any information on Lott Huntington would be welcome.

Dan Higginbottom, Archaeologist
Iowa State Historic Preservation Office

Re: Lotts of Whistable, Kent

I don't know if our Lott's are related, but when I looked at the map of England, and saw that Whitstable isn't really too far from Gravesend where two Lott daughters (of my family) married, I thought I'd touch base with you and see if we could share notes. It looks as if perhaps your Lott's and my Lotts may have been cousins? I'm only speculating at this point. I have "Brown Bible" with Lott family names typeset into the front page, and then some hand written descendancy from there. My Lott's are: Matthew b. 3-4-1772 and Mary b. 1773 (unknown maiden name) Lott. with children as follows:
Mary b 9-5-1792, Mildred b. 12-4-1794, Matilda, 1-30-1797, Mercy b 2-20-1799, Maria b. 6-20-1801, Martha b. 12-18-1803, Margaret Sarah b. 10-19-1805, Matthew 10-31-1807, Mabel Lucy (my ancestor) b.2-13-1810, Mark William, 3-16-1812, Melicent Ann, b. 6-17-1814 d. 2-11-1840 and Maurice b? d?. I don't know if this helps or just further confuses. I have not been able to find any records off of ancestor for this part of my family. All I have is the bible.
