African American Lovings in Oklahoma

Searching for relatives or anyone who knows of the "Loving / Lovings" who were in Okmulgee, Okfuskee, & Creek Counties in the 1930's. They where in East Texas (Upshur County) from 1880 - 1920. Not sure where they were after 1930.

Hi did your James Henry Lovin have a son George Washington Lovin and did he originate from NC? On my Georges death certificate list a James Lovin as the person giving the information. George was born in 1855 and came to TN from Fulton co VA any information would be helpful Thank You Loretta Thomas

My parents live in Ledbetter, Texas and after inquiring, I found they know the Lovings living in the area. From conversations with my Mom, it appears that Lovings have been in this area a long time. My Mom is in her eighties.

African American Loving(s) from Nelson County, VA

I am doing some research on my stepfather's family. Thus far, I have found that:

Charles Lovings (my great-grandfather) of Texas was born to: John Loving of Nelson Co., VA and Alice Daniels of Dime Box, Texas. The two married in Fayette County, Texas in 1894. Charles' siblings were: Shearly, Willie, Lonzie, Melvin, John Jr., Jessie, Mabel, twins Mattie & Birdie, Joseph, Blanche and Horace.

John Loving was the son of: George and Susan Loving, presumably of Nelson County, Texas, based on census records and some deduction. John Loving's siblings were Charlie, George, Jesse, Chris, Fred, Rosie, Fannie, Adeline, and Martha.

Based on family information, it seems that John moved to Texas as a child, namely Ledbetter, where he was able to acquire land and become a farmer.It is unclear when or why the S was added, though my grandfather (Charles' oldest son) says it was done somewhat arbitrarily by only some of John's children.

I am seeking more information, particularly as it relates to John Loving and his parents, George and Susan. I live in Maryland, so it is not far fetched for me to visit Virginia. We always thought the family had origins in Texas, so finding these Virginia ties is exciting!

I am from Rockingham County North Carolina, but moved to Stanly County North Carolina in 2003. I am sorry, but I can't give you any information. Hope you are able to find the information you need. If I should hear anything I will let you know.

Does anyone happen to know what the curse is about and who it supposedly is directed at? Another thing I am interested in is the supposed fall my great grandmother Virginia Jennie Lear suffered at the hands of Henry(Harvey) Green Lovins? Is there any truth to him being a crazy old fool?
And did my grandfather Alfred Lovings actually shoot a man (men) in cold blood and run off to Illinois to save his butt? Any family members out there willing to give me some information on my "crazy" family would be greatly appreciated.

In 1922 in a songbook there were report cards found. Mazie was in school at Chautauga School of Nursing., Chicago, IL. I have the lady who has this songbook and would like to return it to the family. She posted this message on the Good Old days magazine wanted board a few days ago and i am helping her with her search. thank you betty

Lil, if you are still reading the boards, Andrew is the older brother to John F. LOVINGS / LOVINS that I am researching. They were in Stokes Co in 1850 then Rockingham in 1860, 1870, and 1880. I'm reviewing my notes and see that I have not traced Andrew too far yet, though I saved a record from Ancestry about his Civil War enlistment. I have very little info on his parents as I'm still in the early stages of research.

Laura M. LOVINGS (1889 NC - 1942 PA) married George F. WARE / WEAR (1873 NC - 1940 PA); Laura is the daughter of John F. LOVINGS (abt 1850-1852 NC to aft 1900 NC) who married Lucinda PERKINS (abt 1856 NC to after 1900 NC). John F. LOVINGS (also spelled LOVINS) is the son of William LOVINGS who married Prudence JONES (per marriage record shared by a cousin). William Lovins and Prudence Jones were my great-great grandparents on my Mother's side. According to my research, William Lovins was born in 1811 in VA and died sometime before 1880 in Rockingham County, NC. He married Prudence Jones in October 1832 who was born in 1812 in NC and died some time after 1880 in Rockingham County, NC.

I am looking for information on Emily Lovin(g)s who married Joshua Freeman. They are from Stokes County, NC. Their daughter, Lola Freeman, b.8/12/1870, married Walter Vance Bennett on Jan. 10, 1889. Walter was born 4/30/1867. Walter and Lola were my great-grandparents. I would love any information you might have on them.

BIG mistake
Name is Ruby Morris - her mother remarried to Lovings - had a stepbrother named Jewel Lovings. Ruby married John Crews - they lived in Oklahoma. John died in Arkansas - looking for infomation on Ruby's family.

My name is Lillian Lovings. My great grandfather was Williams Lovins, whom I know very little about. My grandfather was Andrew Marion Lovins(changed his name to Lovings). He was born in Stokes County, NC and lived most of his life in Rockingham County, NC.

My great grandfather was William Lovins, born abt. 1811. I would be interested in the information your cousin has on the Lovings family. My grandfather was Andrew Marion Lovins, changed his name to Lovings. He was born in Stokes County, NC in 1837 and died in Rockingham County, NC in 1916. My father was the tenth child of Andrew Marion Lovings and Ruth Joyner. My father died in 1981.
