I am looking for information/assistance in locating my Lowell ancestors in Berkshire County, Mass.
My Great Grandfather was born in Adams, Berkshire County. His name was Roy Bernard Lowell (b. Nov 1887). His father was Charles R. Lowell (b. Oct 1859, Mass) and mother was Ella C. ( ? ) Lowell (b. Nov 1855, VT).
I know from later census data (1900-1920) that his mother was Emily Horn (probably remarried name) (b. Feb, 1836, Mass). I am confident that she was married to Charles H. Lowell (b. abt 1833, Mass). He enlisted with the 31st Mass Inf. in 1861, received a disability discharge in 1862, and Emily filed for widow's pension in 1865. He enlisted in Williamstown, Berkshire, Mass.
Previous to that, he was a painter living in Pittsfield, Berkshire, Mass with (apparently) his mother, Diantha (b. abt 1800) in the 1850 census.
Diantha Lowel was also listed in the 1840 census as the head of household in Lanesborough, Berkshire, Mass. A couple of prospective husbands in Lanesboro in 1830 census are Isaac and John Lowel.
I'd appreciate any help in tracking down more information on these individuals, or additional info going back further.
Thanks,
Craig
