I am descended from Charles Lucas Of Mississippi Territory
he had a cousin or brother by the name of william lucas they
both lived in the same area at one time,on the "Tensaw"...
and in Mo and Ky they both seemed to live in same areas.
William is believed to be the son of Samuel Lucas & Rebecca Wyche. And married to Sarah Wideman Aka Prewitt by previous marriage to Charles Prewitt. And Charles Maybe the son of Charles Lucas & Tabitha Wyche which would make them cousins and their mother's cousins.
During the Spanish inquizition in the america's a captain by
the name of Foulch or Fouch for the spanish military.
Mentioned him being from the "Carolina's" which is only
North & South Carolina. So he is beleived to be one of the Charles Lucas and not Lewis... That Charles was there to execute the will while my Ancestor Charles was in the other territories. Unless he came strait off of a
ship and went strait to the territory which i highly doubt,
due to all the research...If anyone has any questions or
info just let me know...

That Charles with Mrs Beckwith i think is my line. But dont take it to heart because im not sure about it. He and only one other Charles are like the only two Charles that would likely be closest related. All the other ones are pretty much documented and resourced, unless somebody did the geneology wrong. And thats been done before plenty of times by other people. There is a father and a son both names Charles and they were Patriots. One source says the son died around 1793 and all the other sources dont have any info at all of what became of him.So i dont know if he really died in that year or if somebody just has that up there. I'll have to go there someday and look through the civil records unless we find out some other way.But yea that family and one other are the most likely...

Thanks for your reply on the Lucas family. I can't get back further than Richard Lucas who was b abt 1769 in Orange Co Va. He marr Elizabeth Hackley dau of Lott Hackley Sr. & Jale/Jalee Reeds. I am still seeking parents & siblings for Richard as well as children for him & Elizabeth. Richard could be brother to Matthew but can't find the connection. Matthew b abt 1780 marr Mary Lehr. I am still trying to find their parents & siblings. Have their children as Simeon who marr mary Kite & Levi who I have no info on. Simeon's dau Margaret ( Peggy ) marr into my Painter line. She marr Joseph Painter 30 May 1843 in Page Co. Joseph was the son of Peter painter Sr. & Sarah Purdham.Have 7 children for Joseph & Margaret. Have not run across a David Lucas or a Joseph E. yet.
Ollie

No passenger list...have not even thought that far. Check my public tree for names and dates. A lot of what I did find was verified here at my library genealogical room. There is a book at my library that has some notes that the Lucas line descended from England. Charles Lucas, if I am thinking correctly, came from Cornwall England. Of course, that is where everyone came from since our states were not established til later. They migrated to various places later on.

Lucas is a painfully common name. There was/still is a large Lucas family in Logan County - between Sangamon and McLean - whose patriarch is Abraham Lucas. He came to Illinois about 1828. None of the names I've seen in this discussion seem to connect, just tossing it out in case.

Hi! I read your post about Capt. William Lucas who died in Scioto County Ohio. I have been tracing my mother-in-laws family back (her maiden name is Lucas from Belmont Co. Ohio) but have hit a roadblock at Garnet Emmett Lucas (1817-1902) whose father was possibly Charles Lucas (b. 1781) but lost any connection there. Wondered if Capt. William would have been a brother/relative of Charles and may help me pick up a connection??? Any information would be appreciated!!! My mother-in-law is very interested in her family history but really didn't know anything so I'm on the search for history and photos!!! Thank you!

They were slaves during and before the civil war.He was born in 1842 in north carolina but his daughter says he was born in alabama in a couple of census forms. My family is from Mississippi and Alabama and came from the east coast on up the tree and from england i think further on up the tree. But yea there are black people with that name just like other families took their last names during those times of slavery.

Robert Lucas of Longbridge Deverill

I am wondering if anyone has any ACTUAL PROOF of the English ancestry that is often posted for Robert Lucas prior to his departure for the colony of Pennsylvania in 1679. His wife is always listed as Elizabeth Cowgill; is there anything on record confirming that last name? The PA records simply say Elizabeth Lucas.

Everyone appears to be quoting Betty Porter Hall's ancestry in her book on Gov. Robert Lucas of Ohio, which includes parents David Lucas and Amanda Mehan, and an ancestor James de Lucas who was knighted in 1571. There is no such person. There are no Wiltshire records identifying any of these people. There is nothing in Longbridge Deverill records, indicating Robert may have had brothers Aberham, Absalom and Mathew.

Does anyone have original sources for any of this?? Please speak up!

Laura

I did find an 1880 census record with the following:(A.L. could be Arthur, F.R. for Frank, R.L. for Richard Lee and H.W. for Harry?????)

Name: H. R. Lucas
Age: 52
Birth Year: abt 1828
Birthplace: England
Home in 1880: Stevensburg, Culpeper, Virginia
Race: White
Gender: Male
Relation to Head of House: Self (Head)
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: K. E. Lucas
Father's Birthplace: England
Mother's Birthplace: England
Occupation: Farmer

Household Members: Name Age
H. R. Lucas 52
K. E. Lucas 34
A. L. Lucas 9
F. R. Lucas 5
R. L. Lucas 3
H. W. Lucas 2
Baby Lucas 3m

I also see records of a Harry/Henry R. whom was sentenced for criminal acts in England. England, at that time, had begun transporting their prisoners to Australia. This particular Harry/Henry R. was indeed transported to Australia, could be why it was reported that he was from Australia?

I'm still so lost on this line, PLEASE HELP
(Hawkins, Sullivan, Greene, Jearoldstown, Fall Branch, Van Hill)
I am trying to find out information about my great-great grandfather, Alvin "Allie" Q. Lucas. He was born to George W. Lucas and Eliza Tunnell, who are buried in Ball Cemetery in Van Hill/Beech Creek area. He was married to Linda Alice Poe, daughter of Perry & Elizabeth Henry from Hawkins County. He had a son, Clyde, who is my great-grandfather. Clyde is rumored to have been adopted by Allie, but I cannot find out for certain. Allie and Linda (often called "Linnie") had Clyde and a daughter, Bonnie.

Looking for info on Allie Lucas who was married to Virgie Lucas. He raised a child, Clyde, by Isabell (maybe or maybe not) before he married Virgie. Clyde was born Sept 26, 1913 (or possibly 1911) and lived in Sullivan County TN. His name is also found as Alvin Quentin Lucas and although he lived in the Beech Creek/Van Hill area of Hawkins County (Rogersville TN), he later moved to Geraldstown. There is no clarification on the above mentioned Isabell other than family stories. He was first married to Linnie A. Poe and she is buried in Ball Cemetery in Hawkins County. I would love to find out any info I could. I have been told that Allie adopted Clyde and that he was originally a Marshall, but Allie's first wife, Linnie, died in 1915..which was a few years after Clyde was born.
