My names Louise, and I have discovered I have the Luchessi name in my family and they were born in Lucca, Italy. I know little about them, I have a few dates :-

My great-grandmother - Liz Lucas (changed from Luchessi) b 1915, Cardiff, Wales.

Her father - John Lucas (Luchessi) b. 1875 Cardiff, Wales.

His father - Andrew Lucas ( formaly - Alessandro Luchessi) b. 1830 Luca, Italy.

He was married to - Maria (Possobly Maria Rolli) b. 1841 Genoa, Italy.

His father - is listed as Paul Luchessi (could be Paulo)

I wondered if there was a connection, if anyone knows? Would a GREAT help!

I did not meet Robert, but I did see his older sister who is in her 90's. She is a sweet lady and had a very good memory. Someone had mentinoned that maybe Frank had passed away. Anyways, it was amazing to see such a little town such as Fiattone. Did you find the gravesite of Pietro and Metilde? I could not find it. All the best!

Luiz,

I attempted to meet with Don Fiorenzo at the San Iacopo Church for two days. The first day was a Catholic Holiday (12/8) and the next day he was not there either. I asked someone to call him for me, but he said for me to write a letter NEXT TIME. There is likely to be no next time. I was anxious to get information about another famioy line for which the Church may have had records. My lack of speaking good Italian proved to be the problem.

I do not have but Giovanni Battista as the child of Gio' Matteo and all of my dates are estimates based on his (Giovanni Battista) death record. Sorry.

BTW, I went to the cemetery and found the grave site of Antonio TOTI and Ermellina SIMONINI. As mentioned before, Antonio was the youngest child of Albino from his second wife. Once if have downloaded the pictures i will share with you.

Luiz,

The following are the names of the children of Gio' (Giovanni) Battista TOTI and Maria Elisabetta MONI as identified in each such person's death record. The birthdates I have are estimates based on their ages identified in their death records at the time of dseath. Certainly, Gio' Battista and Elisabetta could have had more children, but these are the only ones who are identified in Official Gallicano Records dating back to 1866. They had at least 4 daughters; there names are: (1) Maria Domenica TOTI (death date 30 Apr 1879 @ age 67 -- died unmarried); Assunta TOTI (dd 16 Apr 1895 @ age 79); Teresa TOTI (16 Jan 1902 @ age 75); and Maria Angela TOTI (27 Jun 1896 @ age 63).

Interestingly, the records show at least two sons both with birthdays estimated to be in 1818. One is Vincenzo TOTI (dd 21 Jan 1886 @ age 67) and Domenico TOTI (dd 4 Mar 1871 @ age 52). This suggests that if the age information is correct Vincenzo had a twin brother named Domenico. Your records reflact that Vincenzo had a middle name Domenico (which may be true), but it is odd that it would be the same name as his twin brother.

Finally, according to the Off. Rec., the Vincenzo TOTI identifed in these records was married to Teresa SIMONINI at the time of his death. However, I have not found a marriage record for them nor any children of this marriage. I have not found a death record of Maria Assunta NARDINI. If this is the same Vincenzo (as you say), then he would have married Teresa SIMONINI later in his life following the death of Ms. NARDINI.

In Gallicano, please check the date of birth, marriage and names of parents of Maria Assunta Nardini, wife of Vincenzo Domenico Toti (bd 25/11/1818), who are my great, great grandparents.
See also Florindo Toti has a middle name (parents and siblings have it).
And if you can, try to get the names of the descendants of Albino Egidio Toti and Florindo Toti who remained in Italy, not emigrating to Brazil.
I wish I could turn the current family of Gallicano, to our ancestors.

I'm preparing a GEDCOM file with descendants of Antonio Raffaello Toti, Michele Felice Toti and Gabriello Ferdinando Toti, who emigrated to Brazil and had many descendants here (about 1.500 persons).
I'm sending you as soon as available.

Please let me know once you have done your work with ALL Gallicano birth, death, and marriage records from 1860-1929.

Among those who have met is Giuseppe Toti, who emigrated to the United States, see attached file, which arrived there on 30/05/1912 - 14, Genoa port = 1912 & & line = 0006.
It may be the Giuseppe, son of Albino and Maria Egidio Toti Ersilia Saisi.

On the site of Family Search there are numerous other "Toti", especially near Gallicano (Fornovolasco, Cardoso, Vergemoli) and especially in San Giovanni Incarico, Frosinone.

1. Albino TOTI was married twice. His first wife was Maria Ersilia SAISI (this is confirmed by offical gallicano marriage publication records and marriage records cited previously). She was the daughter of Pietro SAISI and Elisa "del Di Ospedale di Pisa" and she died 13 May 11 (Off. Rec. 1911, Item #28, 13 May 1911). Albino TOTI remarried Elisa SAISI (bd 15 Apr 1881; Off. Rec. 1881, Item #36, dated 18 Apr 1881) daughter of Antonio SAISI and Teresa SIMONINI.

2. Maria LUCCHESI, daughter of Vincenzo LUCCHESI and Cristina FRANCHI, was marriaed to Antonio Raffaello TOTI (as you say) on 16 Nov 1881 (this too is confirmed by official Gallicano records cited earlier).

3. The 11 children listed were from the marriage of Albino TOTI and his 1st wife Maria Ersilia SAISI. The official Gallicano birth records that I have seen (thru 1922), show that Albino had at leat 3 more children with his 2nd wife Elisa SAISI. They are: Vittorio TOTI (bd 19 Apr 1913; Off Rec. 1913, Item #28; 23 Apr 1913); Albina TOTI (bd 9 Sep 1914; Off Rec. 1914, Item #79; 13 Sep 1914); and Antonio (bd 18 Mar 1916: Off Rec. 1916, Item #20; 21 Mar 1916). The birth records of each of these children contain annotations concerning their marriages.

4. I have not seen Don Fiorenzo's birth record, but if his father was Albino's youngest child (not from his first marriage -- Giuseppe-- as I had guessed, but from his second marriage) Antonio TOTI, then his mother was in fact Ermellina SIMONINI (not Stronini)(bd 8 May 1921; Off Rec. 1921, Item #28, 8 May 1921),daughter of Pietro SIMONINI and Felicina SIMONINI. The marriage of Antonio and Ermellina is noted on EACH of their official birth records to each other with the daye of 21 Apr 1938.

5. YES. Armido TOTI (bd 2 Jun 1882; Off Rec. 1882, Item #; Jun 1882) and Maria Assunta TOTI (bd 19 Apr 1883; Off Rec. 1913, Item #28; 23 Apr 1913) were likely the first two children of Antonio Raffaello TOTI and Maria LUCCHESI, who were married on 16 Nov 1881 (see this and prior messages). Unfortunately, I have no other records of these children, which means they may have gone to Brazil with their parents, but may have died in Brazil. Feel free to let me know what you find. I will let you know if I see anythign on them as well in Italy.

6. I am in the process of preparing a very comprehensive GEDCOM of ALL Gallicano birth, death, and marriage records from 1860-1929 which I will publish hopefully by the end of next year. I do not have a separate GEDCOM for the families you mention and it would be too difficult to separate them. I will let you know when you can see ALL of the public data in one searchable link/database.

7 & 8. I am originally from California. My Gallicano anscestors came to the US at the beginning of the 1900s.

Thank you for the update on Michele Felice TOTI family. I only have seen the birth record of Augusto 7 May 1889 (Off Rec. -- 1889, Item #39, 10 May 1889). Michele Felice and Adele LEMETTI also had a child in Italy named Vincenzo who died at age 2 years 6 months (death record dated 19 Jun 1890; Off. Rec. 1890, Item #71, 19 Jun 1890). This means that this child was born in Dec 1887 and is a different from the Vicente you identifed. BTW, Michele Felice and Adele were married 15 Nov 1888 (Off. Rec. 1888, Item #18, 15 Nov 1888).

Thank you also re: Albino Egidio TOTI bd 9 Nov 1846 (I did not have his middle name). The full name of his wife was Maria Erisilia SAISI bd 17 Dec 1846. (Their birth dates appeared in their Marriage Publication record -- see Off. Rec. 1871, Item #32 28 Jul 1871). Their marriage was 3 Oct 1871 (see Off. Rec. 1871, Item #16 3 Oct 1871). I list 11 children for their family (Carlo-1871; Pietro-1874; Felice-1876; Vincenzo & Giuseppe-1878 (both twins died Jul 1878); Vincenzo-1880 (died 1881); Giuseppe-1881 (died 1882); Maria Assunta-1883; Elisa-1885; Vincenzo-1887; and Giuseppe (1888).

Maybe Don Fiorenzo was the son of the youngest Giuseppe whose first child was Luigina-1911.

I will be in Gallicano this week. I would love to touch base with Don Fiorenzo, but I must admit, my spoken Itlaian is terrible!

Don Fiorenzo Toti tells in his manuscript that Albino Egidio Toti was married to Elisa Saisi (not Maria Erisilia Lucchesi).

Maria Lucchesi was the wife of Antonio Raffaello Toti(my ggrandfather), confirmed information on birth certificates of their children in Brazil, Cesar, Umberto, José and João (see attached file).

So the 11 children - Carlo-1871; Pietro-1874; Felice-1876; Vincenzo & Giuseppe-1878 (both twins died Jul 1878); Vincenzo-1880 (died 1881); Giuseppe-1881 (died 1882); Maria Assunta-1883; Elisa-1885; Vincenzo-1887; and Giuseppe (1888), were children of Albino Egidio Toti or Antonio Raffaello Toti?

1) Are Armido Toti and Maria Assunta Toti sons of Antonio Raffaello Toti e Maria Lucchesi?
If true, Armido and Maria Assunta probably not emigrated to Brazil with his parents, because I have no information about them and their names were not on the death certificate of Antonio Raffaello Toti - "Raphael" in Brazil (see death certificate attached).
The children of Antonio Raffaello Toti and Maria Lucchesi in Brazil are: Umberto Toti, José Toti, João Toti, Benedicto and Cesar Toti - my grandfather.

I can't confirm that Vincenzo, son of Giovanni Battista Toti and Elisabetta Moni are the same Vincenzo, son of Gio' Battista Toti and Maria Elisabetta Moni, but the evidence is very strong, are indeed the same person.

All data of the ancestors of Vincenzo Domenico Toti were passed to me by Don Fiorenzo Toti, who is (or was) the parish church of San Jacopo in Gallicano (see attached manuscript of it), including the middle name Matteo and the name of Angela Pinocci.

One day I would like to exchange information with Don Fiorenzo, to help reconstruct the history of the family.

I am interested in including all possible data from the descendants of Vincenzo Domenico Toti and his wife, Antonio Raffaello Toti and Maria Lucchesi, etc ...

If possible on your next visit to Gallicano, check the names of the children of Vincenzo Domenico Toti and his descendants.

BTW, you show that Vincenzo TOTI (father to Antonio Raffaello TOTI) as the son of Giovanni Battista TOTI. The Official Gallicano records show that a Vincenzo TOTI, son of Gio' Battista TOTI and Maria Elisabetta MONI was married to Teresa SIMONINI at the time of his death. If this is the same Vincenzo, then it appears he remarried. Can you confirm this? If that is the case, then I can combine my two records of "Vincenzo TOTI" as the same person. In addition, I show that Gio' Battista had at least 6 children. Gio' Battista TOTI's official death record (10 Apr 1872) lists his father as Giovanni TOTI (middle name Matteo is not recordedon his death certificate) and his mother is listed as Maria Angela (with no last name, which I see that you have a family document stating that it was PINOCCI. Please advise of any clarifications you may have. THX!!!!

Yes re: marriage. I have seen the record on microfilm and have recorded it into my Excel data base of Gallicano marriages. I will publish the info by end of next year.

Thank you for the additional information re: Gabriello's middle name. It did not appear on his marriage record dated 17 Aug 1884 (Gallicano Civil Marriage records 1884, Item #10). He and his wife apparently had at least 5 children. If you are interestedi can get you their birth dates and record numbers.

Yes as to the siblings of your gfather: Armido (male) was born 2 Jun 1882 and Maria Assunta (female) was born 19 Apr 1883. These records I have also seen on microfilm of Official Gallicano Birth Records (Atti Nascita) for the years 1882, Item #57 and 1883, Item #34.

Do you have any other names of siblings of your gfather (children of Antonio Raffaello TOTI and Maria LUCCHESI), including the name of your grandfather?

I do have additional info on Maria's side of the family.

Actually the parents of Maria Angela TOTI were Cristoforo TOTI and Teresa FABBRI per her death certificate. Her husband Luigi LUCCHESI also died in 1891 (20 Dec). Were you able to find any more information on Maria Angela's parents?

Please confirm that Antonio Raffaello Toti and Maria Lucchesi married in 16/11/1881 (Official Marriage Records for Gallicano, Italy -- 1881, Item #26).

I have no information about Armido Toti and Maria Assunta Toti.

Your grandparents' were married on 16 Nov 1881 (Official Marriage Records for Gallicano, Italy -- 1881, Item #26). I was able to find that they had at least two children:

Armido TOTI -- bd 2 Jun 1882; and
Maria Assunta TOTI -- bd 19 Apr 1883.

Any additional information you may have would be appreciated.

In addition, Gabriello does not appear to have a middle name "Ferdinando," but he does have a brother by the name of "Florindo" who was married to Ancilla CECCONI on 12 Sep 1880 (Official Marriage Records for Gallicano, Italy, 1880, Item #14). These records place Florindo's bd abt 1861. Florindo also had at least 3 children:

Venturino TOTI -- bd 26 Apr 1881;
Fioravante TOTI -- bd2 May 1883; and
Maria Elidia (sp?) TOTI -- bd 27 Mar 1888.

Tito ONESTI -- bd 17 Jan 1896

Natale ONESTI -- marriage certificate dated 28 Apr 1922 (lists his age as 24) & marriage publication record dated 12 Apr 1922 also lists his age as 24. (These records show his wife to be Amelia LUCCHESI daughter of Francisco Annibale Aurelio LUCCHESI andElisa or Luisa MAMBRINI. The records also show that Natale has the same parents as the other children even tho' i have yet to find a birth record.)

Annita -- bd 31 Oct 1900 (Gallicano birth record for her contains an annotation that she married Adolfo CORTI on 21 Feb 1931).

Hi Jeff,

My GG was Emil Lucchesi of St Louis. His brothers were Giovanni (John, also known as Frenchy) and Amedeo. I had never heard of a 4th brother, Ferdinand. I have done a fair amount of research but haven't been on A.com in several years. I was able to go to Calvary Cemetery in St Louis earlier this month and located grave sites for Giovanni and his wife Elisa, Amedeo and his wife Mamie. Had no luck locating their Father Antonio. Let me know if you'd care to correspond and share family info.

My grandfather was Jack and grandmother Emma. lived in Grand Rapids. Along with most of his siblings. i have a lot of photo's. Some at my Uncle Jackie's wedding. So there are pic's of Jack's parents also. My dad is Jack stepson. But I remember lots of stories. I do not know much history but i do recall my dad saying Jack's family came from sicily. Jack's mom 1/2 Italian, 1/2 french. Father 100% Italian. I can ask my dad If he remembers anything else. I came on looking for Uncle Sammy.

Amie's father Giovanni came from Lucca in Tuscany. I have no other information about him before he came to the US. He married Catherine Dorcey in Dec 1849. One of my cousins might have more info, I'm trying to get his email.

I'd like to hear more about Aimee. Do you know the names of her siblings, why did she move to Arizona from Kentucky (or Illinois)?

I am the great grandaughter of Amie Luchessi Wetzel. My search has been for her father and mother. Now I have the Dorcey information, but wonder where in Italy her father came from. Amie died in 1939 or 40, not 1934. The family plot is at Calvary Cemertery, Douglas, Arizona.

I had an opportunity this week to visit the Family History Center and I have some microfilm being held indefinitely at the site for me. The microfilm contains birth, marriage and death records from Gallicano. Petro Pinocci's parents were Antonio Pinocci and Maria Dominica Simonini. Antonio's parents were Francesco Pinocci and Lucia Mazzanti.

Antonio died November 20, 1988 in Gallicano. He was 73 years old and he was born about 1815. Also, I found a few birth rrecords and they are as follows:

Adele Pinocci 5-27-1888
Giuseppe Pinocci 12-28-1886
Armido Pinocci 6-11-1881 Died 6-8-1890
IACOPO Pinocci 7-25-1883 Died 4-25-1890

I'm interested in the Lucchesi family which emigrated from Tuscany came to Ireland and England to carvers and moulders - artists.

The names I'm pursuing follow this ancestry:
Matilda Lucchesi (b 1838 Dublin, IRL d 1929 London, ENG), dau of Casimero Lucchesi (1810 Tuscany - 1884 Rochford, Essex, ENG) & Rose (1811 Liverpool, ENG - 1881 London, ENG).

Matilda married William Jones (a naturalist and later taxidermist) and they lived in Norwood, Surrey followed by London, England. (I'm following their son, William L. Andrew Johnes a Lace/embroidery designer who m. Emily Rudland).

Matilda had a sister, Margaret (b 1845) who m Arthur Bottrell. They lived in London, ENG.

Any connections out there?

Luigi Lucchesi/Oakland/Alameda County Lucchesi Families

I am researching my Lucchesi relatives. Luigi Lucchesi was born about 1875 and came to the U.S. in 1910 and settled in Oakland CA. His wife's name is Teresa and they had 3 children: Joseph, Mary, and Yoli. Yoli married Ronald G. Brocchini and had at least one son, Ronald Gene Brocchini in 1929. Any information on these people would be greatly appreciated. It is possible that Ronald is still alive as I have not found a death record. I'd love to find info on him as well as any of his descendants. Thanks!

Erminia Lucchesi that I know was my great aunt min. I may be confused here,or we are not talking about the same woman, but she was married to my uncle Angelo Lucchesi in Chicago. Min and Angelo lived off irvine and wallcott he owned a bar down below and my great grandma lived on second floor. My mom knows more about her than I do. Not sure we are talking about the same people. Very confusing..my great grandpas name was John. Her name was angelina

I have a GG from Barga. Ferdinand Lucchesi. He had other brothers Emil, and one that was called Frenchy. I have heard there were more.

I was doing some research on the Lucchesi side of the family and the records indicated that Carlo Guidi was married four times. I don't know whether or not you have this record on Carlo.

Carlo married Ada Clinton January 27, 1881 at St Bonaventure Church (Italian Church). The record indicates that Carlo was from Gallicano, Italy and Ada was born in Toronto, Canada. Witnesses were I.H. Krone and E. Bianco. The marriage was recorded on January 28, 1881 in St. Louis, Missouri. Other spouses were Rosa Mazzanti, Theresa Lucchesi and Decima Lucchesi.

You can find this record by checking "Missouri Records 1805-2002.

We exchanged emails this summer and I have followed your recommendations and searched through microfilm records of Gallicano for my relatives in Cardoso.
I have some new names of relatives to add and wonder if there might be any connection with the research you have

Valentino Vannucci, born 1823, died 1887, son of Antonio Vannucci and Maria Domenica Toti.

Maria Lucchesi, born 1821, died 1907, daughter of ?? Lucchesi and (Maria) Pasqua Tognetti.

Assunta Toti, born 1829, died 1901, daughter of Ginese Toti and ?? Vannucci.
