MRS. GEORGE (ELIZABETH BRAUN) LUCKETT
JANUARY 29, 1970

The funeral of Mrs. Bessie Luckett, 74, who died Monday, Jan. 26, 1970, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Pacey Memorial home at Washburn, Rev. William Heinbaugh officiating and burial in Linn Mount Vernon cemetery.
She was born in Woodford county, Jan.13, 1896, a daughter of Theodore and Celia Irons Braun. She was married to Wilfred Flodin in Wisconsin, Feb. 27, 1926. He died in 1964. She was married to George Luckett in Chatsworth, Jan. 8, 1966.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Chester Flodin, Plano, a stepson, Donald Luckett, Normal, six sisters; Mrs. Pearl Hattan, Lacon; Mrs. Lon Meinhold, Benson; Mrs. Myrtle Hastings, Washnburn; Mrs. George Youngstrand, Galesburg; Mrs. Harold Jenkins, Washburn; two brothers, Ival Braun, Washburn and Hollie Braun, Lacon.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Chatsworth.

Hi! My grandfather (5 generations) married a Rebecca. Don't know if this is the one you're looking for. Info I have is that Rebecca married John Askins Jr. who lived until 1680.

I also am descended from George LUCKETT baptized 7 September 1781, St Mary the Virgin Church, Bampton, Oxfordshire, England.

Marriage Notes for MARY BROOKS and GEORGE LUCKETT:
Shifford Parish register lists George LUCKETT as marrying Ann WITHERSTONE, a name of Mary BROOKS is beside this with the year 1806. Banns were read however for George LUCKETT and Mary BROOKS, on the 9, 16, 23 March 1806. The entry before this marriage for George LUCKETT and Mary BROOKS,is for the 08/03/1806 has Ann WITHERSTONE marrying Thomas LINCH. Witnesses at the marriage of George LUCKETT and Mary BROOKS were William LUCKETT and Wm COOK. So I believe that George LUCKETT married Mary BROOKS.

What I believe is further confirmation that George married Mary BROOKS is the 1841 Census at COATE, Bampton Hundred, Witney Superintendent Registrar's District, Bampton Registrar's District, The Hamlet of Coate, Piece 0872; Book 7; Folio 2

The Elizabeth SIMMS staying with George LUCKETT and family is his married daughter Elizabeth and her children. I believe that the George BROOKS staying with the family is Mary's older brother George. I have come to this conclusion based on the baptisms that I have found at St Mary's Church, Shifford of George BROOKS and Mary BROOKS children baptized of George & Martha BROOKS.

My line is via my 2X great Grandfather George LUCKETT baptized 18/07/1852 at St James Church AstonBampton 2nd son of Thomas LUCKETT and Elizabeth Esther HALL. This George married Clara TOWNSEND on the 15/09/1875 at St James Church AstonBampton.

Thomas LUCKETT was baptized on the 20/01/1822 at St Mary's Church, Shifford, son of George LUCKETT and Mary BROOKS. Thomas was the eldest child of George and Mary LUCKETT. Thomas married Elizabeth Esther HALL (his second wife) at St James the Great Church, Middlesex on the 23/09/1849.

I would be interested in exchanging information on this family woth any others linked to the family.

He was Harry Luckett b 1895 (Died 1989 Abingdon) in Hardwick witney,Oxon.Father Wiliam Luckett B 1853 Aston,Witney m Ann Huff .His father George B 1781 D 1875 Aston m Mary Witherspoon.His Father George B1767 Witney?m Sarah brooks.His Father Richard B1735 m Mary Howe & Ann Blake.His father Richard B1710 Rye Sussex m Margaret Woolard and last,John Luckett B1678 Rye Sussex.Most of it does tie in but have you any info which could help me further.

We found a letter in my grandmothr's Bible from "Minnie Luckett", who lived in Sharon, Mississippi.
My grandmother was Myrtle Luckett who was born in Farmhaven, Mississippi in 1892.
I don't know the relationship between the two.
Do you think this is a connection to your relative ?

I haven't searched in a while but would stiil like to hear from anyone with information about my grandmother - Myrtle Luckett, and her siblings - Felix and Fannie Luckett. My grandmother was born in Farmhaven, Mississippi in 1892.
I recall my grandmother telling me at one time that either her mother OR grandmother was a Blackfoot Indian.

I noticed that you made a correction to a name in the system. It was listed as Robert Shapel and you entered a correction of Sherrell, which is correct. He is my Great Grandfather. His son is 100 years old, is my grandfather and is still alive. Are you related to the Sherrell Family?

I have different information about Mary Anne Luckett. According to the Hickman 1860 Census, William C. Luckett (m. Margaret)
had the following children: Sarah A (1842); Margaret E. (1843); Andrew J. (1846); James K.P. (1848); David (1851); J. R. (1853); and Mary A. (1855).

According to the Hickman 1880 Census, Andrew J. has the following children: J (James) D. (1870); W.H. (1872); Jesse C. (1874); female name unclear (1876); Jasper L. (1879).

I really don't have any information for you but was surprised when I saw the two surnames. I have recently found a book on my Luckett ancestors. I also have used a book on the Semmes family which has information on another branch of my ancestors. Both those families immigrated to Maryland in the 1600's. There were marriages between those two families in the 1700's. Some of the Lucketts and many other Catholic families then migrated to Kentucky in the later 1700's to escape persecution.

Hi, I need to update my information on Ann Luckett. see previous posting. John Swan married Ann "Davis daughter of Thomas Davis & Ann unknown b. 1791 Wapping & died 1881 West Ham Essex. After Thomas Davis died she married Unknown Luckett, who may have been a publican. By 1851 she is again a widow. If anyone has records of a Luckett, publican who in the 1820s probably, marries a widow Ann Davis I would love to know the source as this may indicate who maiden name. Thanks
