You will find the marriage of William Robert Lugar and Emily Bauld on our web site at www.novascotiagenealogy.com as well as a birth and marriages of a number of their children.
William R Lugar was the first Captain of the Cable Steamer Mackay-Bennett when it came into service for the Commercial Cable Company in 1885 and was stationed at Halifax. Only one daughter was born in Nova Scotia and that was Emily Louise, Her older sister Carman Sylvia Lugar was born in Callao, South America and all the other children in England.

Hi! I've just begun researching my husband, Phillip Orr Lugar's family. He is a direct descendant of Adam Lugar. I've listed his line below. He and his two sisters didn't know they had any relatives. Surprise! We had no idea there are so many Lugar's in the U.S. I'm searching for how we can get a copy of Twila Mae Lugar Grave's book. Do you know where I can buy a copy?

I'm also trying to research Adam Lugar's parents. Through this site I was able to find what I think is his Father and GrandFather - Johann Leicher Loecher and Johann Heinrich Luser - all the way back to the 15th Century! Do you know if this is in fact correct? Looks like the Lugar family has a Castle in Germany!

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Reginald S. Bauld's name popped up in connection to my family (through many different lines / generations). I am searching the REDMOND family of which his mother, and her mother, and her mother and her dad I think, lol) meet back into my branch.

I came across your entry on the name Luggar. I have a Martha Luggar , b. Abt 1770 in Plympton, Devon, and she married into my family, Thomas Forwood [Lieut Navy] who was born 23 Aug 1763 in St Andrews Parish, Plymouth, Devon. We have never found any info on Martha Luggar and was hoping you may have her in your list of names.

Captain Lugar mother and fater were Joseph and Mary Lugar who were the very first pioneers of Grant County settling on Lugar Creek in 1828

Deborah, I passed the info on to Grams this morning. She smiled and you could tell it made her feel great to think all her work went to a good use by others. She is 103 years old now, and still prizes her heritage and love of the family past and present.

It has been my great pleasure not only to have helped with the production and publication of the first book, and continuing on with her work from both the first "Desc. of Adam Lugar" then on to "More Desc. of Adam Lugar", and now to the latest, (which includes the first and second book) to "Kith and Kin of Adam Lugar", which is now updated, but available to those who would like a copy.

My name is Briana my mom is your cousin, Janet Lugar daughter of Bob Lugar and Maisie Lugar. I am 14 years old and have a brother Zachary William Faraday Miller. I was just looking up some past on the LUGARS side and found this, I saw my uncle Brian Lugar and aunt Donna Lugar have both posted as well.

Forgot to mention, this was my grandmother (Twila Lugar Graves) uncle. and He taught her how to hang paper many years ago, which she did for many years. I am attempting to keep up her data work for an upcoming and updated book on the Lugars. I had truely hoped to have it ready to print by this week, in honor of grams birthday, but have been so busy with her daughters funeral and all have had to push it back by about two weeks.

Just a quick note to let you all know Twila will turn 102 years young on Oct. 1 2004, and is still loves to hear from all interested in the Lugar Genealogy.

Although she can not physically work on genealogy anymore due to failing eyesight and age, she still loves to get mail from all...We would like to see her get 102 cards this year for her birthday, to help brighten her waining days. This has been a sad month for her, having buried her last living child just two weeks ago.

I talked to brian and he cleared up the story that my ggg sister married william robert lugar and they had seven children so this would make us related. I don't know how we're related, but we are in some way. this clears the mystery. I am still wondering if all of the wil and william baulds born from 1831, 1864, and 1893 are buried together at fairview cemetery. do you know about this// brian said the baulds are buried near the lugars. I was thinking that it might be good to get pictures of my ancestors that are buried in the fairview cemetery. any information you may have would be appreciated and I look forward to continuuing our dialogue

I believe that my ggg sister married a william robert lugar. my gg got the name william cecil lugar bauld. i am not sure about a David Lugar, but would like any information you have on the Lugars and Baulds. according to my research from the IGI on familysearch mormon website, it appears that your grandather married my ggg sister Emily louisa bauld. however it doesn't mention any children they may or may not have had. When I looked up David Federick lugar, it mentioned that his father's name was william robert bauld lugar and his mother was grace crandal. First of all, I do not know how william robert got the bauld name unless his father was a Bauld, but i think we now know how my gg got his middle name. I am assuming that William Robert Lugar either married twice first to Emily and then to Grace Crandal, but I am not sure. I would suggest that you get both your father's and grandfather's death certificate so we could find out once and for all. good luck and I hope to hear from you. Maybe we will find out we are related, but there are only two ways that i can see that this would be possible.

nice to hear from you. my bauld's orginally came from dumfernline scotland in the beginning of the 1800's, not sure which date yet. however my gggg, ggg, gg, and g were born in the halifax area. my grandfather, reginald sinclair bauld was born in wolfville nova scotia so this puts our families in the same area. My grandparents are buried in fairview cemetery in canada. there are also lugar's buried in that cemetery. somehow my gg grandfather got the lugar surname from his ggg grandather william cecil bauld and his grandmother bessy bliss bauld. Any information you have on their geneaologies and the lugar connection would be appreciated.

there is atleast one person buried in fairview cemetery who has the lugar name. I found this out by going to the cemeterie's website so I am wondering who this person is. this gg grandfather is also buried in this cemetery. somehow he picked up this additional middle name. His father, my ggg william bauld already had the cecil part of the middle name so this is a mystery. thanks for writing. I will continue to research. If you find out something please send me a reply.

my grand parents came from Virginia. There has never been any mention of Nova Scotia. There may have been some one who got lost.?

Chris we could be related there are Baulds in my Lugar line my dad is David Frederick Lugar. My grandfather is william Robert Lugar was born in England and came over to Canada and most of my memories were himin Wolfville Nova Scotia I,m on the library computer and don,t have any info woth me but I,d love to hear from you again and get some dates from you and see if we connect. my name is chris haberern and my gg grandfather was william cecil lugar bauld. I think there may be a connecticut here. they lived in nova scotia between 1893 and 1990 and some baulds may be there today. I think there may be more than a coincidence in how my gg got his elaborate middle name. any information would be appreciated.

Enoch Calvin LUGAR, a paper-hanger, 55 years old,
died yesterday at his home, 1141 Barnett Avenue,
Kansas side. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie
LUGAR; three sisters, Mrs. Exley and Mrs. William
YOUNG of Arizona, and Mrs. William SUTTON of Derby,
Ia.; three brothers, James LUGAR of Hayes Center,
Neb.; M. C. LUGAR of Corridon, Ia., and Frank LUGAR
of Sheridan, Ia.; and a son, Lee LUGAR of Derby, Ia.
The body will be taken to Derby, Ia., Sunday. Mr. LUGAR
had lived on the Kansas side sixteen years and was a
charter member of the Horseshoe Pitching League.

Both Lugar books "Descendants of Adam Lugar" and "More Descendants of Adam Lugar" are out of print, and will not be reprinted. However, anyone interested in "Our Lugar Kin, Descendants of Adam Lugar" CD book which includes all data from the first two books and more, may contact me for more inforamtion. I assisted my grams Twila Lugar Graves with Desc. of Adam, and have them available in the CD Book format.
