Hello Marilyn & Dan,

I apologize for the long absence. I did not see any response from you and thought we lost the connection somehow. But yes, please feel free to contact me directly. I'm not sure if this service is going to allow us to exchange email and phone numbers but I will try. I am at stannicken at yahoo dot com. I spelled it out so it is not recognized by machine as an e mail address. I will be in Hawaii again on 12/14/11.

Thanks,
--Stan

Afternoon Stan,

You are right in that this site is open to the public and we shouldn't put anything out there that we would not want to share with everyone. Most times in the past I have used the site hoping that someone with more data than we have will see the post and answer. We then contact each other using direct email. Marilyn and I do not share living people with anyone who is not in the direct family lines and think most people do the same.

We'll bring you up to data on the children after we get your direct email address.

Do you know if any more of the family have located on the mainland? You and family are a long way away from here. Have you had any trouble with the weather? Hurricane season starts soon and since we have had a bit of rain this spring it may be a wet one.

Aloha,

Marilyn and Dan

We will be with Cathy and Dan's family this Thursday for the younger grandchild's concert at Punahou.

Aloha,

Marilyn and Dan

In the Lum Genealogy book, there is a Samuel Lum who was born in Adams County, Mississippi and died in Vicksburg, Mississippi. His first wife was Catharine Rohelia. Catharine and her child died after she gave birth. Then he married Anna Maria Owings. Their children were William, Helen, Ewing, Isaac, an infant child, Mary and Caroline.
There are numerous Samuel Lum's in the book - I am only guessing since you did not give any dates or other information.

Hello - does your book follow the Revolutionary patriot Jacob Lum married to Rachel Hyland? I'm trying to confirm information about his daughter Millicent/Amelia Lum (b. 28 Mar 1786 in Cecil Co., Maryland d.7 Feb 1864 in Harford Co. Maryland). She married John Cochran and they had a son, James ?Edward? Cochran before the book was published in 1827. Any documented information that you might have would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if you can scan the page and email it -- that would be great. Thanks, Janice
David married Elizabeth O'Neal July 30, 1845 in Copiah County. She is listed in the 1850 census in Copiah County, MS (page 261a, Line 23, HN 774, FN 774) with David and A.R. Lum (Andrew). Next door HN 775/775 is William and Sarah Columbia Lum along with George Lum age 20. At one time, I believed that William and Sarah were cousins but I have yet to find the records. Also, I was told that William and George were brothers and William, Sarah, & George were in the household of David in the 1850 Census. I have since found out that William had his own household once he married (per census records). George could be a sibling to either William or Sarah, I don't know yet.

David Lum married Frances A. Robinson in Copiah County Jan 28, 1855.

David, Andrew, and William were all listed in the Jefferson County, MS 1860 Census very near each other.

The census records that I have found-1850 Copiah County, MS and 1860 Jefferson County, MS-have led me to believe that this David is the father of A.R. and William Lum. There was something I found in the Natchez Court Records, 1767-1805, Record # 1859, Claimant: David Lum, 31 Mar. 1804. The record was concerning some land in Claiborne County. This could be David, son of Samuel. The 1795 David could be his son (or not).

My great-grandmother, Etta Lavinia Lumm, was born in Hagerstown, Maryland (or thereabouts) in 1879. Her father's name was Frederick Lumm and her mother's name was Barbara Goucher.

Etta married Aretas K. Smith, and they moved from Maryland to Missouri, sometime after 1900. My grandmother, Lucy Catherine Smith, was born in Maryland in 1899.

I have been unable to find any information on the Lumms. I know Great-Grandma had siblings, because I remember meeting at least one of them when I was a child.

I looked for your website, but found it was no longer available at the address listed. Have you moved it elsewhere?

I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Harman and Martha in Beaver Creek, Washington, Maryland in 1870, 1880, 1900. In 1880 Martha was 29 y/o and George was 33 and he was a huckster. It indicates both Martha and George were born in Maryland.

If you would like any more information from those census' from Ancestry, let me know.

I did not locate a Martha J, Martha A or George Harman in my Lum book.

However, I did do a little searching and found the family in the 1880 US Census of Baltimore City, Maryland. They were living on Woodward Street.

Your gg grandmother's name was MARY A, born Feb 1857 in Maryland. In 1880 she and George Harman had been married for 26 years, so they married abt 1854. Mary had 8 children but only 7 were living in 1880. George was also born in Maryland but his parents were both born in Germany. He was a cigar maker. Mary's parents were both born in Ireland.

This George Harman family is the one you speak of BUT it looks like you have some mis-information regarding dates and maybe an incorrect first name and surname for Mary A.

My e-mail address is momtms4@aol.com in case you need it.

Hello and what a treasure trove you have! My great-great-grandmother's maiden name was either Martha Ann(e) or Martha Jane Lum born in MD in 1850. She married George W. Harman in 1868 and they lived in Washington County Maryland (Beaver Creek, Boonsboro, Funkstown). Their children were John S., Sarah J., Clara M., Emma G., Charles Elmer, and George E. Any information on her parents', grandparents', names and birthplaces would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for more information about a MARIAN LUM who was married to William George Maguire (he died 1965). Marian was born 1910 possibly in D.C. and she died 1988 in Easthampton NY. I don't know if she had another marriage prior to marriage to Maguire. At time of her death she had daughter Mrs. John J. STETZER, III of Bryn Mawr, PA, and she had stepchildren listed, who I assume were children of deceased husband Wm. Maguire. Marian also had a brother Dr. DAVID W. LUM, of Chevy Chase, MD, and a sister Mrs. Thomas O. TAYLOR of Media, PA.

Is anyone on this board familiar with any of this family? If so, I'd like to hear from you.

There has been and still is a sizeable Lum clan in Oahu which is the island Honolulu is located. The current phone book has about 2 pages of Lum entries.....some may actually be descendants of Hung Bung Lum, your grandfather. Good luck in your search.....Raymond

My husband Mike is from the Sidney E. Lum family. Sidney was
his grandfather. Erma was his grandmother. Mazie was his mother. I would love to get the Yorkshire England
Lum information you have available. Also copies of any photos of Lums you might have. My e-mail is:
janiceoneal1951@aol.com. Please reply. Also anyone else who
has Lum connections.
