John Turner Lunn and Nancy Dunavin (Dunavan?)

I am a grandchild of Earl Lunn, who was a son of John Turner Lunn (1837-1917) and Nancy Dunavin (Donavan?) (1863-1942). John Turner Lunn was born in Maury County Tennessee. Nancy was born in Lanton, Missouri.

It appears that John Turner Lunn’s parents were John Lunn and Eleanor Graham. And John Lunn had a brother, William, who married Eleanor’s sister, Esther.

It appears that Nancy’s parents were William H Dunavin (Dunavan) and Emiline (no guess as to her maiden name).

Is anyone else researching any of these people?
I know how it feels trying to piece chunks of one's family together. To the best of my knowledge your LUNN is not my LUNN. The only Lunn of whom I am aware is ELLEN LUNN who went from Newport Co Mayo to MA. But who knows... I'll keep your name in my mind as I wade through the roots. Have you tried www.familysearch.org? or www.ellisislandrecords.org?

Sorry to be a bother, My name is Kelly Teed and I am looking for information on my maternal grandmother, Evelyn Lunn – may be from the PA area. She was born between 1910 ans 1920 and gave birth to my mother, born Rosemary, to father George Kaim and Evelyn Lunn on January 26, 1938 at Queens county hospital in Brooklyn, New York. There is belief there was a second child born to the same Evelyn & George between 1939 and 1942. Rosemary was adopted from The Angel Guardian Home in Brooklyn, New York in 1941. If you have any information, I can be contacted via e-mail kelly@theteedgroup.com and/or 203.253.2476. Thanks so much for your time. It breaks my heart than my mom has never had the connection her children (seven of us : ) have had, with HER very own brother or sister.

She was a domestic when she gave birth to my mother.
She may have had red hair and green eyes.

Evelyn may be from England, Ireland or Canada originally.
There is belief there was a second child born to the same Evelyn & George between 1939 and 1942. Rosemary Lunn/Kaim (adopted name; Margaret Frank, now Margaret/Maggie Teed) was adopted in 1941 by Leo and Elizabeth Frank, Saugatuck, CT from Angle Guardian Home in Brooklyn, New York. If you have any information, I can be contacted via e-mail kelly@theteedgroup.com and/or 203.253.2476. Thanks so much for your time. It breaks my heart than my mom has never had the connection her children (seven of us : ) have had, with HER very own brother or sister.

We are just outside of Vancouver, in a suburb. So far, there is no confirmed connection; unless it is back in 1800-1825 time frame. There is another Lunn family in the Kars/ Kings ,Alberts Counties that I can't make a connection with; mysteries abound.
Wendy

I'm in the San Francisco area and have a cousin (from a different branch of my family) in Vancouver who's also into genealogy. You are very astute to have noticed we were on the sdame time zone.

So are the two Effie's cousin's? Is there a connection between your Lunns and mine at all? I had heard decades ago from an Uncle that Effie was "Indian" and am still trying to figure that out. I thought I had the answer when I discovered your Effie thinking she was mine.

We are related to the other Effie Mae Lunn, not to your Effie May, at least not that we know of yet. Your Effie May was the daughter of Leonard Lunn and Sarah Jane Crane, married in Houlton, Aroostook Co., Maine March 10 1855.
I saw one piece of information that said Leonard was a cousin of James Lunn. I assumed it was James Lunn, son of John Lunn, Loyalist and his wife Mary. Mary married as her second husband Hicks Seaman. But there was another James Lunn, born Belfast Ireland, living in Brunswick, Queens Co., died about 1823. Leonard and Sarah had 9 children, Effie and her husband had 10 children. What else would you like to know. Leonard and Sarah's children all have names that run in our Lunn family tree. Our Effie May is the daughter of John Thomas Lunn and Mary Lavinia Day, my husband, Robert's great grandparents.
Wendy Lunn

SHe was my great grandmother but I know nothing of her parents, siblings etc. Do you have information on her? There is another Effie Mae Lunn 2 years younger than her also in the same area of NB.
Hi Rae. I'm descended from Effie Mae Lunn of New Brunswick. There seem to be 2 Effie May Lunns born 2 years apart in Wicklow, NB. After some research I discovered I was probably searching the wrong one, but I DID find a Seamans (also spelled Semons) Lunn (b. 1849) who married a Mary Lunn on the 1861 Census. He and Mary were both Native American. I thought it was interesting that one of your Lunn ancestors married a Sarah Seamans. Perhaps this Seamans was their son.

Hi Susanne, we've communicated before. I never found that John Lunn's wife was Mary Ann Touse, someone else had it in their verbal/written information. It is a mistake. Mary Ann Touse did marry a John Lunn, they were of Nova Scotia. Mary Ann Touse is too young to be our Mary Lunn. Mary Ann Towse was born around the time of our John Lunn's children.
At This time I can't remember who it was that said that their father or grandfather had done research and came up with Mary Ann Touse, but it is definitely wrong.
Wendy

I think you may have talked with my mother Suzette Lunn Southerland at one time. I didn't know if you wanted to get back together. I have been doing some research on the Lunn's and the Otte's. I am Kim, Suzette's daughter and you can email me at derby@triad.rr.com
