Thanks for response. Since my original post we have confirmed with death certificates Margret's parents to be Whiting Lyman & Hannah Latson(?), so it appears we are probably not looking at the same Margret. Another distant cousin (whom I connected with thru ancestry) are researching the Whiting line but so far have not been able to find his parents. We have brothers, Whiting & John living in Amenia, NY. I have sent to Albany for multi-yr. search for Whiting's (my 3rd great-grandfather) death certificate-nothing back yet. My tree is public or if you would like any other info, please let me know. There still could be a connection.....you never know! Thanks again for contacting me. Janet

John's parents were Simeon Lyman & Abigail Beebe. The line goes up from there to Moses Lyman, then John Lyman, then Richard Lyman & Sarah Osborne who were the first Lymans to immigrate to America from England.

Hulda's parents were Samuel Brinsmade & Mahitable Hubbell.

If you email me- jeremyjL@gmail.com I can provide you with a lot more information.

I have read that John Lyman (Laura's father born 1763) was a Revolutionary War veteran, but I have not been able to find any stories or information about this. If you have any, it would be appreciated.

Jeremy Lyman

Hi John

I show Levi and Sarah's children as Elizabeth, Amy, Sally Ann, Wager W and Levi. Thus far no James, but I suppose it's possible - if he is a member of this family then he would have been born between Amy and Wager and there is a time factor allowing it, but to date in all my research haven't seen any James.

Hi,

I am looking for more information on James Lyman (born in NY about 1810) and his wife Julia (unknown maiden name - born in NY in 1815). James shows up in the 1840 census in Washington, Dutchess County. James, Julia show up on the 1850 census in Amenia with children Ethelinda, Betsy, Catherine, James Jr (who served in the Civil War), Sarah, Harriet (my great great grandmother), Mary and Charlotte. I don't find any other record of James, but Julia is listed as a widow on the 1880 census, living with my great grandparents Enoch Tompkins and Harriet Lyman Tompkins. Julia died in November 1890 and is buried in St. Peters Cemetery in Lithgow, NY.

Any help appreciated.

John

If there was a grave stone it may not be there now. Edwin and Jane Lyman lived in this area. I hope you can find more I do not live in Texas. Who are the grandparents of your husband? I knew of many when I would visit my ggrandmother Mary Pricilla Lyman in Gonzales, Texas. I have many pictures and I will share if you are interested. Please let me know I have been collecting our Lyman geneology since the 1990s Dorothy
Here's what I found. The shield shares features with others I've seen...acutually this shield is one quarter of a shield I've seen in another Lyman coat of arms. Scarlet or crimson is uniform, as is the argent (silver) color. The red circle represents felicity, I'm told. Hope that helps.

I am not related to the Lymans but my great-aunt's husband was Isabelle Lyman Douglas. My sister has a little child's chair that belonged to her and would be happy to send it to a direct descendent. There is a note tied to the underside of the chair that says, "This chair was given my grandmother when a little girl about 1813 or 15. After she married my grandfather Moses Lyman of Goshen, Conn in 1834. She used to sit by the fireplace in this little chair to dress and undress her babies of whom my father was the eldest. She left the chair to me. Isabelle Lyman Atwater.

I believe the grandmother to whom she refers was Mary Ann Holley (1813-1989). Isabelle Douglas Lyman lived 1867-1957.

My great grandfather's (Charles Blair) cousin was Eva Lyman Wallace. I believe her siblings were: Charles, John, Tilly, Bertha, William and Thomas. I believe her father was John but do not know her mother's name. Is anyone searching this line? I would like to learn her mother's surname to determine if it was Blair. They lived in the Albany County (Cohoes) Ward 3 area at least from 1900 to 1910, possibly longer. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am looking for ancestry information for a Bill Lyman who I'm told was in the CIA who married Gladys. I don't know if this is true, but I'm told one of their daughters married someone with the surname O'Carol. Also there is some relation to Carnegie Hall. I think it was one of Bill's daughters.

This is all I have. There is some relation to my Murphy family tree there somewhere. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Timothy Lyman - Miami County, Ohio

Hello!

I'm looking for information about Timothy Edward Lyman who was born in Cincinnati around 1846. He served in the Civil War and then married Mary Mast in 1865. They had several children: Mary (married Edward R. Johnston); Dora (married John W. Fox); Annetta (married William F. Steiner), Samuel Lyman, and Timothy Lyman, Jr (married Nellie Fitzsimmons). They lived in Covington and Piqua, Ohio, though Dora and her family lived in Little York, Montgomery County Ohio. I have yet to find the names of Timothy's parents, though I know they immigrated from Ireland and I think his father's name started with a G. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Amy

You can still buy the P W Lyman but you"re going to have to search Geneological sites and/or the Library of Congress for the Descendants. I will send you a PDF of the Addendum (if you send me an email address) I have a (inherited) copy. It was published privately and probably only went to the family members. There are photos of all the direct descendants in the Trees Gallery (simpson/howard/lyman/root)
