Hamlet LYNCH (if that was his real name!!!)

Hi, all...

Desperately seeking a Hamlet LYNCH (was that his real name?), who could have disappeared (from anywhere else in the world) between 1790 and 1804 on his way to Barbados.

Given current conditions of the day he could easily have come from Ireland, Scotland, England, the Colonies (now Caribbean, US and Canada) - or anywhere else.

And it is very probable he arrived on a military or government ship without being documented as a passenger - I have found NO records of his existence, even knowing his name ONLY by reference in the will of his grandson.

He was apparently already wealthy, as his grandson and following heirs had money, estate and position.

Did your long-distant relative (ANY CHRISTIAN NAME, ANY SURNAME) disappear about 1800 with family riches (or stolen loot?)

There must have been a reason for such secrecy... no marriage or death records, and his name is on none of the birth/baptism records of his children.

Please help me dig the cement out from between the bricks in my wall at 1804 and demolish that unsightly block... I have been researching since 1995 and am still unable to find a speck about either "matriarch" or "patriarch" before that year.

Jim Lynch

( Contact through http://www.candoo.com/contactform/index.html )

my great great grandfather was john lynch who was born in ireland in 1829. In 1861 he is living in Alfred Street West Hartlepool Durham, with his son Thomas H aged 2 and daughter Mary Jane aged 1. There are two further children described s stepsons; John Murray, 13 born in Sunderland and George Murray 9, born in Stranton. Backtraking to the 1851 Census I find John Lynch's wife-Jane living with husband William Murray, 26 born Stranton ag lab. They have an 8month old daughter. I am trying to find out more about John Lynch and wondered if anyone has come across these people?
best wishes to all
jain
Searching for additional information on Peter J. Lynch (b. 1864? )of Shercock, County Cavan, Ireland. Peter was a Calvary Sgt. Major on the British Army and served in both the 1st Boer War (?) and in India. His residence is listed as India on his daughter Catherine's ( my grandmother) birth certificate.

Peter sent his 3 daughters to America via Canada, but he remained in Ireland. Son Oney Lynch was listed as missing in action at Dunkirk, 1940.

I have reached a bit of a brick wall at this time in terms of finding additional information regarding PJ Lynch and his family in Shercock and surrounding areas.

Any additional information or suggestions regarding research would be appreciated.
Looking for info on my greatgrandmothers Linch/Lynch line

My great grandma was Adina Linch/Lynch. She married Samuel Broyles (of the Germana colony Virginia Broyles)in 1864 in Tennessee. The census info only lists her a Broyles, a mention of her marriage lists her as Linch, and I have seen a mention of two of Lynch. She and her line might have been recent Cork immigrants from Ireland, pre-1850's. She was born in 1850 in Davidson, Tennessee. So her family most probably lived there but I have run into a brick wall on her. Please any info would be greatly appreciated.
Riobard O'Dwyer has published several books that are very helpful to anyone doing research in County Cork. They are entitled "Who Were My Ancestors?" and cover a number of parishes in County Cork. I found my great grandfather, John Francis Lynch, who immigrated to the US to work in the copper mines in Butte, Montana. Mr. O'Dwyer also has a great deal of information that he has not published. He can be found online by doing a google search using his name.

LYNCH - Barbados, Caribbean, all connections

My LYNCH family tree is all in Barbados, with a "brick wall" at 1804.

I believe the patriarch at 1804 (probably born about 1780) was Hamlet LYNCH, and I know that the matriarch was Menifred or Minifred LYNCH. Two of their sons were Peter and James, but we are descended of John Richard LYNCH.

So far as I can discern, Hamlet had no birth, baptism, marriage, death or burial documentation in Barbados. And he is not named on any of the children's documents either.

There are two Hamlets alive in that time frame, but one would have been about 15, the other about 30 at the first baptism in 1804 - I therefore discount them both on the basis of age (one too young, the other too old).

The matriarch was probably penniless, but I strongly believe that the poatriarch was a man of some wealth and property - because of the subsequent standing and property of his son and grandson.

I maintain a strictly documented database, with any other LYNCH family names or connections added as segregated individuals or clusters. I also document the families of spouses - which is unusual for most genealogists.

I would be VERY happy to hear from, share with and add to my database any other LYNCH trees with individuals or clusters in the Caribbean, most especially in Barbados.

From past experience I know that these Forums are happy huntinmg grounds for the SPAM harvesters seeking fresh emails to send their vile junk out to, so if anyone wishes to communicate with me please contact me through my secure email form here...
http://www.candoo.com/contactform/index.html

I also created and admin the Caribbean Surname Index - for queries and searches of any and all surnames associated with the Caribbean (with mandatory manual registration and hidden email addresses)...
http://www.candoo.com/surnames/index.php

Happy days...

Jim Lynch
Toronto, CANADA
