i believe that Francis was Elizabeth's mother she was first married to Heman Humphrey Barbour. She had a son Ernest Luther Barbour and James Joseph Barbour. Roff I believe is her married name from her second marriage. Hope this is helpful.

Clarissa Lynde m. William Warren.

Her parents are Jabez Lynde m. 1796, Clarissa Clary Woodruff.

Her parents, Hawkins Woodruff m. 04Jun1773, Winchester, Litchfield County, Connecticut, Lois Hills.

They are my 3 x great grandparents.

Hawkins was a Revolutionary War militiaman with the Litchfield County Revolutionary Soldiers.

Clarissa Woodruff is my 2C.

The book, To a House in Whitby is quite helpful in this research.

Can't be right, UNLESS there were two Sever Alonso Lynde's....All of our family info says that Seiver/Sever Alonso/Alonzo Lynde married Minerva Jaynes with the above dates you show. IF the Sever Alonso Lynde you show as a son of Issac is correct, the date he died is before his children with Minerva were born!!!

The children of Seiver/Sever A. Lynde and Minerva Jaynes Lynde are correct and she did remarry after Seiver/Sever A. Lynde died about 1859. They are in the 1850 Johnson Co. MO census in 1850....but only she and the children were on the 1860 census of the same location.... I believe he was buried in Houts Chapel Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO.... some listings show that, some do not, which means to be that the stone is gone...

Hi Karen,

I might have sent this info before but I still have Mass as Sever A. Lynde's birthplace. Seaver appears in the 1830 and 1840 Census for N.East Township, Erie Co., PA While there "he ran a tan yard".

Will try and check it out a bit more.

Al....I am related to Seiver/Sever Alonzo Lynde in MO...All I know of him is that he was born in Ohio (where?) and there is speculation to which family he was from in MA...but after all these years, I haven't seen anything that proves the connection....Would be so fortunate to finally have the right lineage for him, and certainly would share what I have so far. pikering public libary (pada) pathmaster series vol 1 covers most of the families of woodruff,post,lynde,kerr,burk,tool,they also have locations of burial plots. Other locations are darlinton mills now bowmanville. satlers creek now port hope. oshawa, whitby in what is now called durham region ontario canada

According to my records Sybil Lynde married Norman Stirling.
They had 2 children - Dorothy Stirling & Richard Stirling.
Sybil's parents were Jabez Nathan Lynde born Nov 2, 1879, died 1958, married Minnie Ince in 1919 had had 3 children Norman, Sydney & Sibyl.

My husband is from the Thomas O'Callaghan Lynde/Rachel McIntosh Lynde family branch.

Charles' grandmother [Solomon Thompson md Polly [Mary/Lucy] Smith; was Lucy Lynde who md Nathanial Smith [Leicester/Malden, M.A.] Lucy disappeared with Nathanial, had 4-5 children...he apparently died [any number of reasons, all unsubstantiated] and she shows up back in Brimfield and marries Thomas Ellinwood, in the same church as her daughter, Polly [Solomon] and within two years of that event.

I am trying to connect my family with the Lyndes of Whitby, Ontario. My Great-Grandmother is Lucy H Spears, Born in !887/88 to S.C. Spears and Alice Lynde.

I understand there is a book on Lynde Family History, but seeing as how it is not readily available I wondered if anyone could tell me more about Alice or her family, or even the allusive Spears.

There was lots of postings in 99/2000 about the Lyndes but not much since then.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for anyone who may have photos/information on Charles A Lynde who married Sarah Euphrates Herod. Together they had one daughter. Almira Rozine Lynde "Mida". Mida married William "Fred" Campbell in Seymore, MO but they resided in Johnson County, MO until their passing. Both Charles and Sarah passed in Wright County, Mo and are buried in the Crane/Crain cemetery. Charles in 1874. Sarah later married a man by the last name of Newton from that area. Still trying to prove the ancestors of Seiver Alonzo Lynde, born Ohio and died near Warrensburg MO 1859. His wife was Minerva Jaynes (sometimes spelled Jane/Janes/Jones) and she later became the wife of John Gwinn.

I too am a direct descendant of Sevier Lynde and his wife Minerva Jaynes Lynde Gwinn. Of course, each one of the names are and have been spelled a variety of names.

Thank you so much for the info. Seiver A. Lynde is my direct line. I had been told that his parents were possibly Isaac Lynde & Lydia Adams, but am still looking for proof of that. Lesta G. Lynde, 100, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Kane, formerly of 130 Greeves St.,
died Monday afternoon, July 28, 2008
at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born June 1, 1908 in Kane,
she was the daughter of William H. and Dora E. Haight Spence.
On June 21, 1934, she married William T. Lynde,
who died in 1983.
Mrs. Lynde had worked at The Nut Shop
and the Dan Dee Shop, both formerly in Kane.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, where she was a home member of the Mary Circle. Surviving are a son, Thomas C. (Helen) Lynde, of Erie;
a daughter, Barbara (Ed) Schmookler, of Berkeley, Calif.; eight grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren;
and a special friend, Josephine Lauer, of Kane.
Preceding her in death,
in addition to her husband and parents,
are a son, William D. Lynde;
and a grandson, Thomas S. Lynde.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II
Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane
on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and may attend a service there at 11 a.m. on Friday

Simon Lynde and Hannah Newdigate were the parents of Samuel Lynde who married Mary Ballard. Mary Lynde is the daughter of Samuel and Mary.
