James Reader Lyon was the father of my grandmother, Catherine Edna Lyon as well as James Reader, Jr. known as Buck. He also had 2 other children. All mothered by Mary Ella Roger. I remember Marguerite Gossage. She was with Buck and they had a child.

May I ask who you are and why you are researching my family?

How very interesting.

Sincerely,
Lori Howard

Don't know if this helps in your search, but I've recently come across an old overgrown cemetery on my brother's farm. There are 6 graves that are marked. One is inscribed James S. Lyon b.9-23-1814 d.9-17-1865 One says Sarah Mankin
Others include In Memory of Adeline N. Lyon b. 11-4-1812 d. 4-21-1864 Wm. Reuben 1861-1879 A.P. Lowe 1819-1884 Mary A.
Peter,
I am also decended from Joseph Lyon through Marie D'Anterroches. I am not sure if I am from their son John or Joseph because they lived next to each other on the census and they both had sons named Joseph that were almost the same age, so I can't tell them apart later censuses. I am related to the one that married Lavinia Johnson or Johnston, their son George was my great grandfather. Any information you can share about Joseph would be wonderful! My father used to always say we were decended from Hugonauts but I have never been able to find anything on that. Thank you!

William immigrated from England to MA on the Hopewell. I am related through my grandmother who was a Lyon. She always told us we were related to royalty but I do not think our Lyons were related to the Lyons-Bowes family of the Queen mother. Interested in other descendants of William and also info abput his ancestors in England. My cousin has it back to John Lyon in Ryslippe Middlesex Enfland. I don't find her sources but she did work hard on this. Interested in a discussion.

I would love to get copies of your scanned in pics! I can't seem to send you a message. I'm thinking it is because I'm not a paid member. Could you try sending me a private message and we can figure out details? I can send you copies of all my photos as well. Almost everything after 1970 is just Melvin's family though (Erton's son), so I can leave that out if you want. But still, there are surely some that you'd find useful.

Also, I should have mentioned this before. That postcard text is the back of the photo... so they are both the same size, I just figured the photo was more important, so scanned that one in larger.

I have the pic or Bertha, Erton and Earle but not with the postcard.

I had never seen the pic of my dad and Melvin.

I have a little over 800 pics that I scanned from Earle's collection of photos and can get you copies if you have any desire for them. Most are not labeled with names.

Thanks. Since my post, I've found some details on Henry Lyon. Several people have cited him in their applications for membership in the DAR. Apparently, the DAR recognizes his patriotic service and has assigned Henry an "Ancestor Number" of A072751. At age 37, Henry signed up into the Connecticut Line on 22 Jul 1775 for a 3-month hitch, serving in the CT 8th Regiment, 7th Co. He then re-signed on 26 May 1777 in Col. Wyllys' CT 3rd Regiment, Allen's Co., and remained on the active rolls through the duration of the Revolutionary War in 1783.
Henry is widely reported to have married once, to Anna Elizabeth Everett (1743-1810) on 17 Jan 1767, possibly in Massachusetts. They had some ten children. Their fourth child, Richard, is reported to have been born and died on the same day: 01 Jul 1770. A year later, on 23 Jul 1771, their second Richard was born, from whom my wife is descended. This Richard went on to marry (1) Susan Brady (1783-1811) on 07 Nov 1809; this union produced two children. Richard then married (2) Mary Ann Murch (1794-1880) on 03 Feb 1817; this union produced three children. There are conflicting claims regarding the places where these children were born and where they died.
I'd like to hear from folks who have some definite information on these locations, or other data to share.

I'm doing a tree on Edward Sebray Lyon and wonder if anyone knows about his marriage/marriages. I have him married to Caroline (unknown maiden name) in the 1870 census. He's listed on the 1880 census as being married to Adeline (unknown maiden name). In 1899 he married Dora Elizabeth Thomas in CA. I found a record for that.
I've been unable to find any records of his other marriages. I also can't find maiden names for them or birthdates or where they were born.
I've also been unable to find when and where Edward died.
If anyone can help please email me at pammyinlp@yahoo.com
Thank you,
Pam
I'm new to this board. I wonder if any current readers are familiar with the family of this Henry Lyon. (There are literally thousands of hits when I search for him -- too many to wade through). This fellow was possibly a soldier in the Revolutionary War whose records suggest he was in the Continental Line (regular Army) from the time he enlisted through the duration of the War.
Would enjoy hearing from others who have some research on him and his offspring.
