I found David on the U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Records, 1863-1865 Record (July 17th, 1863). It was listed on the 'hints'. I checked John's hints, and it wasn't listed, but we may see him on it if we do a search.

I'm not 100% sure if this is right - he is listed as unmarried. I show he was married in 1860, and his first child born 1859. I'm still working on verifying these.

I searched for John, I only found a John on the U.S. Marine Corps Muster Rolls, 1798-1958 Record, Name: John Mace
Muster Date: Nov 1865
Enlistment Date: 30 Sep 1865
Rank: Private
Station: Marine Barracks, Washington
(no indication of age or anything else.)

By the way, I still know that I need to fill in the pieces for John A. and Nancy Mace and their grandchildren. I'm headed to England and Wales in late May, and I was hoping to see if they were from some of the places that I will be.

I don't have this Nicholas connected, just thought he may be related, perhaps a grandfather, or other relative. Another cousin had notes that he discovered our Nicholas (1808) was a 'Junior'.

I did some searching on Greene, TN, which I've seen before, finding mostly marriage records, but as for new info, I've only found a couple of Maces in Smith County, TN that were themselves born in Maryland. Here's the link: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tnsmith/cempics/macecem.ht...

Says: Phinhas Mace Cemetery
The Mace Cemetery is located on Young Branch Road near the bottom of Mace's
Hill. It is located in a pasture near a old abandon house.
36-22-57N 86-00-98W

Mace, Phinhas 21 June 1811-2 July 1890

The History of Smith County has the following:
"Thompson Mace was born in Maryland about 1779 and his wife born in Maryland,
about the year 1775. The 1820 Smith County Census shows them with three sons
and four daughters. ........ it appears they had sons named William and Phineas."
" Phineas Mace was living next to Thompson in 1850. He was probably married twice.
Phineas appears in the 1850 census with a wife named Mary, who was age 27. On August
13, 1863 Phineas was married to Rachel Bowman. They appear in the 1870 Census as age
68 and Rachel age 47..........from the above cited facts regarding the Mace family,
it is surmised the village was named Mace's Hill from the land owners.
Thompson and Phineas Mace."

I thought that this Nicholas Mace was born in 1808 in Green County, Tennessee, which would be consistent with the birth date of John A. Mace in 1837 in Green County, TN. I was not certain if the Maces in Maryland were related to the Maces in Tennessee and Iowa. Have you done any research in Green County, Tennessee?

I am seeking info. on Maces around theCarrollton area. My father in law was William Ray Mace born June 1911. Him and a little older bother were left at an orphanage he thought in Carrollton, Mo. He was only 3 or 4 at the time but thinks his mother was ill but supposed to come back for them but never did. He did not know his parents name and the boys ran away from the orphanage and separated at that point. That was the last contact he ever had with any family member. Theres no birth certificate on file. If anyone can help please contact dorothym@hughes.net

Jem Mace

Hi,
I am Jem Mace's Great Grand-daughter. I would like to know more about Jem Mace's affairs as, from the books already written, I cannot trace the family line. The story goes that my Grandfather's (John Thomas North)mother died in childbirth and he was adopted by an Aunt. The father was Jem Mace and the story has always been consistent. My Aunt passed away on 27th October last and her middle name was Mace and I have a cousin with the middle name of Mace. My Grandmother was born into a poor farming family in Wales with 9/10 children and my Grandmother was given away to a very wealthy family and had her own maid and horse and carriage to take her to school. However, they employed a gardener to tend the grounds and my Grandmother fell pregnant by him and subsequently married him (my Grandfather). I am very interested to know if anyone has any knowledge of the North family in relation to Jem Mace.
Any information would be appreciated.

I know this is an old thread, but if you receive this I am from the same lineage and occasionally work on my geneaology. Edward would have been my gr gr grandfather. He was married to Isabel Duffield. They had a wide ranging age of children. one born as early as 1838 and as late as 1863. I don't know how much info you have at this point but I have the ancestry way back too. The Mace family is on my mothers side, but most of my connections are with Maces throughout my life. My email is: randyhoff_mann@hotmail.com

I am trying to piece together information on the Maces. You have given me only one likely possibility and that is relation to my Black side because I have no clue the connection otherwise. However, it is still interesting that I have papers for tax and mortgages on Isaac Nicholas and James and the only connection is Sendmeyer... Sendmeyer is my grandmother's side... Black is my grandfather's side. I am not even sure if there is a relation but if you could email me that would be great.

Davina,
My name is Jessica- I am the daughter of Mary. I am sorry that I have not checked her postings. She passed away 2 years ago. Those names do not ring a bell for me but that is not to say that they are not related. You can reach me on my page if you like.

I am trying to find the rest of Andrew and Harriett mace's children.I know they had Henry and James. They lived in Rochester and Syracuse ,New york.I got Jame's death certificate it states he was one of 12 children. No matter how hard anyone tries we cannot read his mother's maiden name on the certificate.I have had professionals look at it and they are unable to make it out.Any leads and ideas are appreciated.thanks
