MACK OBITS FROM NIAGARA COUNTY, NY: NEED TO SEND OR DISPOSE OF

In 2010 and earlier, I scanned/posted on this message board several obits of Macks from Niagara County and now that I am moving to a smaller apt. I must dispose of them; but before I toss into “circular file” I would like to offer them to anyone who might be interested. Hopefully, all to one person (less postage and more importantly, less time for me right now since I still have a lot of downsizing/packing to do)
To review: the obits are for: Willard (1918 – 2003); Jacob, age 80, obit dated 10/30/1854; Cornelius J. (1908 – 1983); May “Merrimac” Mack, d/o Mary Keough and Cornelius Mack (1884 – 1981); Agnes Lardner Mack (ca 1877 – 1965); Leonard A. ( - March 1995); Emma I. (Budde) Mack, (1907 – 1980); John L. (1903 – 1981); Harvey R. (ca 1910 – 1976).
I have not been able to connect any of these to the branches of my Macks who moved from Tompkins County to Niagara county and I no longer need/wish to keep these. I obtained these copies many years ago from the Niagara County Gen. Society; I was told that many obits they once had in this file folder had “disappeared”, so no telling how many are remaining by this time.
Daniel Mack of Milton, NY ( - 1798) and wife? Esther

I find it is important to keep posting queries on brick walls, so doing this one again; it has been awhile.

I have some information found on a Daniel Mack when I was researching in Onondaga County, ca 1991. I finally figured out, some time ago, it cannot be MY Daniel Mack who founded (ca 1800) Macktown in Tompkins County, son of immigrant John Mack and Isabella Brown; but I still have the information on this unknown Daniel Mack and perhaps by now someone knows of him and can tell me where he belongs and in what Mack tree : John Mack family of Lyme Ct; or my John Mack is of Londonderry, NH).

From Tree Talks 1964: "Mack, Daniel, of Milton, deceased. bond $300 filed April 26, 1798, by Esther Mack and Cottrel, signed Cottrell Coy, admin. and John Huggins and Roswell Franklin (p 25 of Letters of Admin. Book 1 in the Surrogate's Office, Syracuse.)"

This lead me to the Surrogate's office when I was researching in NY and I copied the one page of the file - doesn't tell me anything. Does anyone know of this Daniel Mack who might have a wife named Esther and connected to a Cottrel Coy? I would love to do something with this piece of paper - except toss it out; hopefully someone can claim this Daniel Mack? I am moving soon and must de-clutter all of the unnecessary paperwork collected while researching.

Interesting that I found this old query; I just finished working on info I have had from a Kathy Hughes, 2000 who said she was grand dau. of Corthell Stanley Mack. I cannot not reach her via e-mail but here is some of what I now have on my database, not knowing if these are connected to my Macks of New Hampshire or not.

"Web-site of burials in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ludlowville, Lansing Twp., Tompkins, NY

Block A, Lot 13:Mack, Edwina C.,purchased September 16, 1911
George H.
MACK of Toronto, Ontario

Hello,

I'm trying to find lost cousins for a female friend of my son. She would love to know why she's a redhead and has heard it comes from this lost side.

I don't know a lot, but maybe someone has some further hints for me! Her grandmother was G. MACK (still living, so won't use first name) born 1947, Toronto to John Edward MACK and Marcia Elizabeth TEMPLETON. I understand that John Edward MACK's mother was Dutch, possibly Jewish, with the unusual surname of VON KOVENHOVEN. Somewhere in there is the name CARPENTER too, but supposedly it was French and originally CHARPENTIER/CARPENTIER at one time.

Not much to go on, but I told her I'd try. I've got hits with less before! Thank you.

Mary

No, sorry that is all I know. My other side of the family (McGinty/O'Donnell) came from Donegal and I was just there in September.

There must be some truth to the MacNamara story since we are hearing it from your part of the family and my part. I did note on the censes that Thomas Leo Mack said both his parents were from Ireland but on ancestry.com there are multiple sources showing she was not from Ireland.

If I do pull up any other facts, I'll be sure to let you know.

We were always told that the name was changed from MacNamara to Mack when he came to this country. I can find my grandfather, Thomas Leo, who was born in NYC and I see that his father is John Mack but the records seem to stop. To me that indicates his origins are from another country and I know that it is Ireland.

I didn't indicate anything about Wales. My aunt told me that Thomas had a sister who lived in England married name is Elizabeth Bogans. I have no clue if she stayed there or married and moved there.

Henry Clay Mack (1844 – 1931) : have pension file to send

I am downsizing my genealogical “stuff “ to better fit what will remain into a smaller apt. when I move to another part of the state. have the pension file of Henry Clay Mack to send to some descendant (through their adopted children) or someone connected to this Mack family.
Henry was b. 24 Aug 1844 in Ithaca, Tompkins, NY to (my) John Milton Mack and Susan Maria Almy. He is a brother to my Frances Eunice Mack. Henry married Cynthia Ann Wheelock 11 Sept. 1868 in Marshall County, Iowa. (Possibly Marshalltown). I have not done research to follow the trail of the only two children I found: Russell M. Mack who was adopted and Adeline Mack. There may be “descendants” of Henry and Cynthia through these children who may want to know more about this couple.
Henry had multiple serious injuries as a result of his Civil War Service and had to keep applying for a pension and then for an increase in same as his ability to work to earn a living decreased. This is a big fat file and it could fit into a manila envelope but not sure it would make it through the mail; might consider using one of those flat rate envelopes for 4.95 and I would appreciate being reimbursed for postage no matter what envelope it goes in; I am on a very low fixed income with no changes foreseen. This pension file will not be going with me when I move.
I have an extra copy of a photo of Charles E. Mack, [s/o John Milton Mack and Susan Maria Almy] and one of his wife, Josie McDonald, that I would like to send to another family member/descendant.

Charles was born 27 June 1859 in Illinois (most likely Winnebago County); he d. 15 May 1915 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, CA. He md. Josie Mc Donald {“Jo} 31 Oct. 1882 in Little Rock, Pulaski, AR. (I have a copy of their marriage license). All I have on Jo is that she was b. abt 1859 in Ireland (census); she d. before 1900 in Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa. Charles is not my ancestor but is a brother to my Frances Eunice Mack. Charles and Jo had a dau. Mary Alma Mack, [Sept 1884 – 1969] who md. Clarence W. Lurvey.
William B. Mack (ca. 1810 - 15 Dec 1845) & Wife Theresa: Ludlowville

I posted this query before, but never any responses as to who this William B. Mack was who is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ludlowville, NY, with his wife Theresa. William B. back died Dec. 15, 1845, age 35; his wife Theresa died Jan 17, 1879 age 61 years. I do not know who William belongs to; I have never been able to connect him to my Macks. I am now downsizing to move to an even smaller apt. and I need to "dispose" of many things, including photos. So I am hoping someone can connect to William and Theresa and ask for these photos to be sent to them. They need to go somewhere, but not with me when I leave here.
