This information comes from the Cleveland Ohio Public Library Necrology file. It is a search engine and online and free.

It is a fabulous resource for anyone doing research. You may find other relatives there. But beware, the transcriber made many spelling errors and that is unfortunate.

There are many old funeral homes still in existence.
Calvary Cemetery is the largest Catholic cemetery. T think there is a website.

Notes: Patrick Maddalena. Patrick Maddalena, former Cleveland, Ohio pharmacist and drugstore proprietor, died yesterday morning in St. Petersburg, Florida where he had been a resident for the last decade.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio, he came here to obtain his degree in pharmacy at Western Reserve University.
He was graduated in 1929.
He was a member there of Alpha Phi Delta.
In early years after his graduation, Mr. Maddalena worked as a pharmacist for the Marshall Drug Co. Later, he had his own store in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was a member of the Cleveland Association of Pharmacists.
Surviving him are his wife, the former Mildred Petruzzi; two sons, Frank and Michael; a daughter, Patricia, and two grandsons.
Services and burial will be in St. Petersburg Tuesday.

None of your names sound familiar but appear to have come from the same town, maybe cousins??

I was happy to receive tnis information about Maddalenas from Fanna.
My grand grandfather was Francesco I De Cecco, born 1860 circa in Fanna, he had 5 children: Gianbattista De Cecco 1875 – 1948, Cristina De Cecco 1877 – 1946, Anacleto De Cecco 1879 – 1959, Elisabetta De Cecco 1882 – 1951, Margherita De Cecco 1886 – 1963.
So Margherita- Margaret was sister of Anacleto, father of my father Francesco II born in 1921.

Hi Barbara, Responding to the post from margot8a, My grandfather was Giuseppe Maddalena. Margherita was my Stepgrandmother. She raised my father (born in Fanna) and his brother in Jackson, MI. The child Roger died as a young child. My 1st cousin, Roger, was named after him. Guiseppe is buried in the cemetary in Fanna. Margaret is buried in Jackson, MI. She died in 1963. Catherine

My great great grandmother maiden name was Maddelena, she was called Maria and married Roldolfo Zanetti. She came from Fanna as well as her husband, am wondering if this is anything to do with your family. My great great auntie (called Alice nee Renwick) also married a DeCecco called Louis though I am not to sure where abouts in Italy he came from.

Dennis - Silvestro Ottolini (b. 16 Dec. 1785) is on your http://www.morelli-family.org/Ottolini.HTM site with Tommaso and Domenico Ottolini listed as children, which a relative from Gordevio, Switzerland has recently told my of.

Margherita De Cecco born in Fanna 1886, married Giuseppe(?) Maddalena, Margherita emigrated to United Estates, arrival to NY in 1915, had a child Ruggero, I do not know if she had more children.

My grandfather's name was Carmine. He came from Abruzze (sp? )Italy. Grandmother's name Antoniette. Both are deceased. Had 2 sons, Rafael and Salvatore, my uncles. Salvatore lived in Hillside, NJ then moved to Springfield, NJ. My dad, Rafael, lived in Newark and then moved with my mother to Florida. There were also 2 sister, Marie, now deceased and Filomena, who is living and resides in Toms River, NJ. I have 2 brothers, Ralph and Carmine, Texas and New Jersey and 2 cousins, John and Michael who live in Springfield, NJ. Im the Grandaughter of Claira Irene Brook (Nee Maddalena) aka Irene.
Her father was William Thomas Maddalena,
His father was Charles A Maddalena,
His father was Carlo Antonio Maddalena
His father was Silvestro Carlo Innocenzo Maddalena and
His father was Pioe Maddalena.
I dont know if we have a conection, but it would be nice if we do!

The lady that has also been writting on this thread, Sharon, is a relative of mine, I'm not sure of the conection.
Most of the information I have is from books she has done.
My Dad went to a reunion and got these books.
They are very intresting and well written.

The Children were named Emanuel (Manny), Carolina, Cosmo (Gus), Joseph and Philomena (Fanny or Fay)

address was 222 East 111 st, Manhattan, NY (?)

He had a brother named Antimo b. July 11, 1897 d. May 25 1977 in Italy

Antimo lived in the US for many years then retired to Italy, his wife's name was Isabella

and a sister named Marie (Maddalena) D'Abbraccio b. Dec 12, 1891 d. May 22, 1988 in Queens, NY her husbands name was Giovanni D'Abbraccio b. June 27,1891 d. March 14, 1963

I know he had more siblings but they remained in Italy

Antonio's parents were -
Emanuel Maddalena b. Feb 4, 1863 and Filomena Granito

I am looking for any information on my great grandmother Liberata Della Maddalena. She was from San Rocco Di Premia and married Louis Dandrea around 1890. Calogero Maddalena, born in 1833 dead in 1909, was the father of my grand grand-father. Cristina Maddalena got married Amarù Francesco in 1878. THey had three children. I have a photo taken to Lillo Amarù, one of Cristina's sons.
Calogero Maddalena had 6 children, one of whom was my grand grand father. I know all the hystory of Maddalena Family starting from 1766.

What do you need? There were two families of Maddalenas living in Gordevio in the 1700's and 1800's. They intermarried along the way and I came down from one branch and you maybe from the other. I can possibly help.
