Hi Jennifer,
My maternal great-grandmother was Barbara Legler, daughter of Adam and Anna (Hefti) Legler. She was born in Monto Zella Wisconsin on August 26th 1855 and died in Ogallala Nebraska on Jan 23d 1931. I would love to see what you have on this family in the hopes of getting back a few more generations. I have Adam and Anna being married in Glarus Switzerland, then emigrating to the US at some point. I believe Adam's father was David and Anna was the daughter of Jacob and Barbara Hefti. Look forward to hearing from you,
Rick

I have 2 David LEGLERS: The furthest back was married to Susan VOEGLI whose son is Joachim m.Marg. SCHINDLER whose son is another Joachim m. Anna CLAUSER whose son is David m. M. ZWEIFFEL. Maria Madgelena LEGLER is the daughter of Joachim and Elsbeth STREIFF. Maria m. Michael SPEICH in 1823 in SWITZERLAND and thier son Joachim emigrated to the US around 1850. I also have 2 HEFTI sisters(Maria and Verona) from 1608 who both married Abraham SPEICH in 1629. I am sorry I don't have more accurate dates. I do not have a Barbara LEGLER so I can't help you there. I have many names in my Swiss Heritage so if you come up with any let me know. They are: SPEICH, STOCKER,LEGLER, (W)PERREN,LUCHSINGER,STREIFF,ZWEIFFLE,VOEGLI,NIGG,CLAUSER,ZOPFI,BLESI,WEBER,BETCHEN,MUELLER. Hope your search goes quickly and smoothly.
Genealogically yours,
Jennifer

No, I have never been to glarus, but would like to. A large portion of those families settled in New Glarus, Wisconsin with a smaller group settling in West Bend and Fond Du Lac Wisconsin.

If you go to the church of latter day saints family search website, and enter the information on groom and bride you will find the history of legler and streiff families that date back until the 1500's. I am unable to find the research i did on this family but believe the research was obtained from that site. The streiff and legler families intermarried frequently in glarus switerland
