Erik and Britta Magnuson/Magnusson Two Harbors Minnesota

Looking for information about Erik and Brita (Svensdotter) Magnuson/Magnusson from Sweden to Two Harbors Minnesota

children:

Anna Albertina - Sweden 1887 to ?? (for sure in Minnesota

Kristina Mathilda - Sweden 1889 to Duluth MN 1974 (Clarence Nordstrom)

Carl Petter - Sweden 1890 to Colorado 1947 (Hazel Boyd and Myrtle Nelson) Was deaf and attended Faribault School for the Deaf in Faribault Minnesota

Martha Katherine - Two Harbors 1893 to Duluth 1964 (Arthur Jackson)

Otto Nicanor - Two Harbors 1897 to Two Harbors 1941 (Ruth Evelyn Anderson)

Hilma Elizabeth - Two Harbors 1899 to Duluth 1995 (Edwin Lundberg and Conrad Lindholm)

Emil Leader - Two Harbors 1902 to Duluth 1972 (Addie Harlow Harmon)

Olga Emelia - Two Harbors 1904 to Duluth 1956 (Henry Gimpel)

Edward Howard - Two Harbors 1906 to Marquette Michigan 1931 (never married)

Annie appears to be a missing link. I can't finder her past the 1910 census. She was mentioned in her mothers obit (Mrs. Annie English) but not her brother or father's obit). She was referred to as "ish" by her younger sister Hilma who refused to talk about her at all.

I've found nothing on English. Did not know she even existed until shortly before Hilma's death in 1995. Really want to learn more about her but would love to connect with others searching.

Hi, I purchased a graduation photo of Etta at a local antique fair this weekend (Coburg, OR). Etta was the daughter of Charles Magnuson and Annie Tanglen, The family resided in Otter Tail, Minnesota.

If you would like the original photo, I am NOT related and am trying to get the photograph to someone who is related and would want it. I am not trying to make a profit and just ask that you reimburse the $4 I spent and shipping costs. If you are interested, just let me know! :)Jessica

I'm glad to help.
Now here's what I found on the Ellis Island site.By the way,as you may know, the site is free..you only need to register, user name and password.
www.ellisisland.org
Theresia Henrikson
Occupation:nurse
Port of departure;Christiania,Sweden
Last place of residence : Weunersliong,Sweden
Family in Sweden:Father H or K Henrikson
Destination:North york,New York
Arrived in New York 17 August 1915
I should say that Anton's partner listed as Berhard Land is listed in the 1930 California census as Bernhard Lundh and they are neighbours. His surname is spelt two different ways.
I also noted Theresa name is spelt differently as is her surname.
Here is a terrific site for Canadian info
www.islandnet.com/~cghl
I shall look at Theresa's death notice to see if I see her Mom's maiden name.
Perhaps, you will find their marriage in Alberta.
I may have another site for Alberta but it won't come to me at the moment.
The best to you.I'll post again if and when I find more info.
Elaine

Thank you very much for the information. I did have some of it but not all. I hope to find out more, like why they first settled in Canada. Maybe my husband has or had other family living there. I would eventually like to trace the family as far back as possible as we know very little about their history. Any other information you could provide would be great. Thank you again.

Okay, brave yourself..I found plenty of info!!! I'll start from Sweden to England and on to the 1930 California census and beyond!
Anton left sweden on 23 Nov 1906 for England.
He sailed on the ship called Saxonia from Liverpool England and arrived in Boston Dec.1907. Now,refer to my first post for his places of residence.
In August,1920 he and Theresa sailed from Vancouver,B.C. to Seattle with their destination given as San Diego.
1930 California census
Anton 42 years old
Theresa 41 years old
Roy 6years old their son
Thor Henrickson 30 years old -- Thereas's brother.
Age at their marriage: Anton 30 and Theresa 29
Occupation;poultry farmer
Anton born in Colstad Sweden
Theresa born in Vermland,Sweden
Theresa came to the USA in August 1915 and arrived in New York aboard the ship called the United States.

Theresa born 16 March 1889
died 12 Jan 1973
Social Security # 571564843
Died in San Diego

Anton born 18 May 1886
died 16 Sept 1958
Died in San Diego
Mother's maiden name: Svenson
Anton became a naturalized citizen on 15 Nov.1941.
Haven't found a record for Theresa.becoming an American citizen. Now,seeing that they left Canada fron the port of Vancouver in 1920 for San Diego, perhaps they married in Canada.Oh,I should say that in the 1930 census they state they've been married for 12 years....so that would be about 1918.
Haven't found a trace yet of Theresa when she landed in New York in 1915.I'll look on the Ellis Island records to find her destination.
Do hope this helps you and your husband.
Elaine

I am looking for any information on Anton Magnuson. He immigrated from Sweden in 1907 to Aitkin, Minnesota and relocated to Claresholm, Alberta, Canada at some point. He then relocated to San Diego County in 1919. I believe he married Theresa Henricksen in Minnesota. I'm certain he had family in either Minnesota or Canada. He is my husband's paternal grandfather and any information would be great.

John Otto Magnuson 1911- 1965

I'd appreciate any help/confirmation with this line. I have a John Otto Magnuson b. 1911 in Örsås, Svenljunga, Älvsborgs län, Sweden who emigrated with his parents in 1915. I believe his parents are Johan Magnusson & Agnes Sällmina (Wilhelmina) Haglund (father Otto Haglund). If I have the correct Johan, he was born 28 Mar 1861 in Alster, near Karlskoga, Värmland. Which would mean he ended up in Älvsborgs län where his wife and son were born. The parents were apparently already middle-aged when John Otto was born, so unlikely there were other children. I believe this to be the same Johan that shows on the 1920 census as leaving in Upper Michigan. John Otto married Ruth Ada Schult, was a minister, and lived in both Minneapolis, MN and Marquette, MI.

Robert MAGNUSON born Nov 1923 in Seattle

I am searching for information about Robert Leroy Magnuson, born in Seattle to Martin (Marius) and Nellie (Gunhild) Magnuson, Norwegian immigrants. His last contact with the family was around 1970 and he was living in Southern Califoria. He sent a postcard from Hawaii around that time.

Bob was a paratrooper in WWII in the 517th and has not attended their reunions. Two military documents indicate he may have married for a time during the war.

Bob was a civilian contractor with the Navy in Alaska c. 1948-51. In a photo from Kodiak he is shown with another Robert Magnuson. After Alaska he moved back to Seattle and then perhaps to San Diego before going to Los Angeles. He was a licensed pilot and flew float planes in Seattle for a time.

Family rumor is that he was homeless and probably died on the streets in LA. Have been searching for about 5 years and can find no records past 1957.

Any information is much appreciated.
Kyrsten of the band 'Magnuson'

Guitar player’s website InfamousGuitar.com announces Kyrsten of the band 'Magnuson' as first
member-spokesmodel

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 17, 2008 ) Dallas, TX - InfamousGuitar.com and Kyrsten, lead guitarist from San Diego
band “Magnuson” are teaming up to promote the Infamousguitar.com $10,000 Habitat for Humanity Challenge.
“We chose Kyrsten for several reasons,” says Sean Hansen, editor of Infamousguitar.com. “She’s a killer guitar
player, she’s a member at our site InfamousGuitar.com, she’s uber-hot, her band rocks, and she’s all in all a
really cool chick. So, we’re going to put her face out there to help grow our site, promote Habitat for Humanity,
and get her band noticed. It’s a win-win-win-win, the fourth win being whoever eventually receives the benefits
from Habitat for Humanity as a result of our contribution.”
The InfamousGuitar.com Habitat for Humanity challenge is a combination membership drive and fundraiser. If
InfamousGuitar.com gets 10,000 members on its site in 2008, they will donate $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity
by the end of the year.
“Habitat for Humanity is undoubtedly our favorite charity. Everyone needs a home, and Habitat gives people who
are down on their luck a chance to work together with others to build themselves a home,” offers John Kirkwood,
webmaster of Infamous Guitar. “You can’t beat it. They’re technically a charity, but they don’t give handouts, they
give hands-up. Which we all need from time to time.”
Kyrsten’s band, Magnuson, is going places. They’ve toured nationally, and are getting lots of air time on the
college stations with their single “Strange Lights". Their music video "Hopeless Rerun" generated industry
accolades in the Rock Star 98.7 video competition. “Just listen to them, ad you’ll hear a band that actually
manages to take the three-piece rock trio to a new place,” offers Hansen. “I’m glad we get to say ‘we knew them
when…’ ”.
InfamousGuitar.com has just begun its first monthly guitar solo competition in May 2008, and has already had
over a half million pages viewed on its site. Many guitar players and fans from the now-complete 2007 Guitar
Center King of the Blues competition have migrated to InfamousGuitar.com, and its membership has grown into
the hundreds, primarily through word-of-mouth viral marketing. InfamousGuitar.com expects thousands of
members and millions of unique visitors during its 2008-2009 Online Guitar Solo Contest.
For more information about InfamousGuitar.com, please visit http://www.infamousguitar.com, or email press
[at] infamousguitar.com.
For more information about “Magnuson”, please visit http://www.magnusonband.com.
For more information about Habitat for Humanity, please visit http://www.habitat.org.
###
This press release was issued through GroupWeb EmailWire.Com.
